You can find the deep dive schedule here. The HUT deep dive is coming October 6th.
  • These are pretty cool.
I’m very curious to see what the plan is for the young superstars in the game…
  • Overall I'm a bit disappointed that each team doesn't have at least 1 player who could fit into an X-factor.

As expected, the execution seems like a bit of a miss. Backstrom from the caps not getting tape to tape seems a little weird. Seth Jones being considered a defensive x-factor in general seems a bit weird. Gibson not having an x-factor is a HUGE miss…and does all of this effort mean the base AI went untouched? Probably, and that’s the area that needed the most improvement. Simple things like wings staying actually collapses and shaded to the middle in their own zone on “collapsing” and the AI not always stopping and starting constantly, and the AI prioritizing loose pucks over “covering” for someone when they’re the closest guy, and guys on the 1-4 not sprinting across to the Weakside for no reason…these are the “strategy” changes we desperately needed offline and in 1v1 modes, not things that probably could’ve been represented by attributes mattering more rather than a badge.

I’m not against these x-factors, but they’re almost surface level compared to player tendencies and the stuff like I previously mentioned. That’s where the actual differentiation and and player uniqueness will shine.
  • I do think X factors are a really good start for player separation and obviously I’m hoping for more in the years to come. I didn’t expect them to knock it out of the park as player ratings have never really been great in this series. I think I heard you can edit them, if so I’m happy. I really wanted player tendencies as well, but I guess X factors is a way (maybe even a lazy way) to have an impact on every mode.

But thats it - 15 players with the X-factor?

Personal im happy that it won't be X-factors all over the ice. The 'real X-factor' should be a thing between us, the players that play the game, to decide.

But im guessing EA can realese new cards in HUT - with players that's armed with an cool x..
  • Why is Seth Jones a X-Factor player btw? I am pretty sure that EA don't care about advanced statistics like Corsi, Fenwick or XGs, but come on he he has been in a steady decline for couple years and is no way somekind of poster child of a modern defender nor a defensive expert. I get that not everyone is into fancy stats, but perhaps EA should dig deeper into the irl game and actually put out up to date product

If you are an online versus player you have even less of a reason to play as certain teams because teams like Tampa, Toronto, Colorado, and Pittsburgh are stacked with some X-Factors. Even though I'm sure most of those teams were used often anyway it just further reassures not to use the others.

Hehe Im half a masochist - I like being beat by the so called big teams - eventually I strike back.

Nothing better feeling then to beat thoose people that loove to play with the 'best teams possibly.

It's worth to take some losses for.. 😏
  • Part of me hopes this can be turned off in franchise mode if we don't like it.

Every time I see new info on X-Factors I hope for the same thing.

I just hope that X factors aren't the big addition for franchise mode this year. If it is, and it sort of seems that way right now, then I doubt we can turn them off. I’ve always wanted to turn chemistry off as well because it is a pretty awful system. Hopefully that is much improved this year.
  • Yeah, pretty disappointed that every team doesn't have at least 1. Huge miss imo especially when they made 50 and Tampa has about 5?

I think it's a strange decision to make the HUT deep dive on the 6th because EA access will allow for people to play the game on the 7th.. I would have expected the deep dive to release a week or so before that. I'll be interested to see if they make historic players have x-factors in HUT. I also want to know if they'll have any kind of cap on # of x-factors on your team.. going up against a team full of gold x-factors would be annoying imo.

They have a good base for this game but they definitely fall short in a lot of ways.. HUT could be much better than it is! Imagine starting up HUT and you had the choice to start your team with a rookie there could be 64 to choose from. Each team has 2 guys to choose from, you can choose a x factor for them and a synergy you build around them and their card improves throughout the year. You get a historic card if you get special version and it works the same as the rookie card you choose the synergy and Xfactor. Teams like Vegas and Seattle would just get a veteran on their team. You could only have ~3 players with an X factor. You could give team synergy boosts for having x number of players who all played for a specific team.. personally I would also make salary mean something in HUT and have a salary cap mode, this would also be used in tournaments and stuff. unfortunately people with the current system could just get boosted players on entry level contacts or players taking team friendly deals. Madden does this much better by giving the player cap hit in the corner of the card, they have salary cap modes or you can just face friends with cap rules, I would have tournament modes with cap, challenges use cap, ranked matches with cap, etc I think a lot of people would like it and I don't think it would hurt sales within HUT. Facing people who have Crosby, mcdavid, etc. So often gets old FAST! I want to face people who have a similar ovr as my team but be interested to see who they run with and how they use them. Maybe they have 2 D men with offensive X factors and I have to account for them taking shots from the point, then the next team has a playmaker wing and then OVI slapping and I have to watch that. Unfortunately I feel everyone will just have x-factors all over the ice, use the meta synergy, have similar teams, and I'll rarely be surprised by who is on their team.

Nah you want HUT fresh on the minds and people itching to get started. It's quite smart from a marketing/business standpoint. We won't know how the X-Factors are gonna work in HUT either. I know for MUT they got limitations on how many on each side of the team for offense and defense. So I'd assume there will be something like in place for HUT.
  • It's good that each team doesn't have one, I mean, do the Coyotes or Ducks have anyone that would be considered a Superstar? They have good players but I can't say those teams have anyone that's outstanding except for maybe Gibson on the Ducks in net.
