So Tired of Human Goalies in Drop-In

Replies

  • I'm sure a lot of goalies are tired of the "defense" or lack there of in a lot of drop ins. Double edged sword my friend.

Agreed, I played a few games of goalie today and there was zero defense. 2 of 3 goals scored on me were taken from the top of the crease with no dman in sight. The second game was breakaways and 2 on 1s until I quit.

As someone who plays goalie in EASHL all the time I never play the position in drop in games because nine time out of ten the players don't play positional hockey or D, everybody is forward who wants to score, sometimes they just quit, others then blame the goalie for letting in the goals despite the fact they don't help on D, don't help with rebounds, nothing.

Now while it is true that not all players are like, as evidenced in this post with people sticking up for goalies, the same can be true about human goalies who skate around a lot and find themselves out of position or come out to get the puck and then have it stolen from them and scored on but like not all players don't abandon their goalie, not all human goalies abandon their team, that doesn't mean you have to say "Get rid of all Human goalies."

You start doing that you'll have all the goalies saying do the same thing for all the selfish players who abandon the goalies during games and then blame the goalie when we're lose. If I let in a goal and it's my fault so be it, but if I let in a goal because all my "team" were busy all being forwards, trying to crash the net and score and turn the puck over and I'm alone to deal with a three on one situation because all of them are still in the offensive zone now chasing the play, yeah that's my fault too because hey it's not enough we have to anticipate whether the shot will be high or low, Glove side, blocker side, five hole but now it's which one of these three do I think is going to take the shot on top of that and where's my team during all this? Oh they're still at centre ice, great.

Hey I made the save! Oh no rebound, where's my defence to pick it up and help? Oh right at the high slot, desperation save attempt them it went in, well I did all I could.

"YOU SUCK GOALIE WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? MAKE THE SAVE!"

Times like that I know how Lundqvist feels whenever the Rangers leave it all up to him to bail them out.

LOL..this happened to me in the Beta, my team then tried to bully me through the mics in the 3rd period because nobody was playing defense and I was learning how to play goalie. People really think they're good at this game.

Think the first game I played as goalie this year i let in 10 lol i didnt quit nor do i ever really. It felt nothing like the beta. There is only one way to get better, learn from you and your teammates mistakes. everything can be stopped by either the defense or the goalie. So placing blame doesnt help anyone.

Thing is if you make a mistake as a Goalie there is no way to correct it, unlike every other position. A mistake = goal. think of that everytime you turn the puck over as you letting in a goal.
Thats what I am thinking everytime a player turns the puck over before getting it deep or getting a scoring chance.
  • What we need are classes that are different from one another. Are you really telling me that my stats are affected? Because no matter what class i use i will always let in the same goals
  • Another thing is that even though we got anti-grief measurements in place, that wasn't the issue. The issue was goalies fooling around IN THE CREASE allowing goals on purpose
  • avoid dropin, thread closed.

and your point is? I have been around these forums since NHL 09 EASHL.

Means nothing, since the new forum it makes everyone look like they just signed up....This wasn't even my normal persona...
  • Gotta realize too, you get punished for choosing certain classes no matter how well you time a poke, stick lifts are broken, but if you aren't a class with a so called good stick, don't matter how well timed or positioned you are, especially versus a high pass rating , you will fail.
  • If wishes were fishes, the world would be an Ocean...

I wish everytime I play drop-ins my entire team didn't play like The Mighty Ducks (from the movie, not the NHL Team) before they met Gordon Bombay... But I guess that's not gonna happen and I'll be cursed to continue playing games were I get outshot 35-7 and let in 6-7 goals while my team chirps in "C'MON GOALIE!" as they allow their 11th breakaway attempt. Nevermind that I was able to stop more than half of them, it's the ones that got by me that REALLY matter...
  • very hard to human goalie...the bigger issue is when i light them up and they quit...if a human goalie quits a teammate should have to takeover or the team forfeits ...that should be the rule.

Considering how only 5% of the world's population scores over 125, that is quite the feat.

I think he means that his IQ dropped below the negative threshold. Like somewhere around -400 IQ points.

BTW, I scored 121 on my IQ test and I heard that George "Dubya" Bush scored something like 123. Is that good? :p

Nothing is good if you can compare yourself to Dubya LOL!
  • again. it doesn't take a genius to realize that when you pick G, I expect you to save unscreened wristers from the blue line. and I don't expect you to run out of your net so the other team scores twice.

again, your post is completely irrelevant ...

    friend
Apparently some people need some serious intellectual hand-holding. As a responsible D-Man I have watched many many many low percentage shots go in where the goalie was in position. Shots from way out, extreme angles, all kinds of stuff. You are blaming the goalie and honestly a lot of times its the game not the goalie.

While I fully agree with you here, I think the OP is referring to the ones who blatantly play like crap and don't try to do their job. Could be some players are trying but are so bad that it makes it look like they are trolling.
  • I don't have to play goalie to know that any person who picks it should stay in net and not let in unscreened writers from the blue line or acts likes he's playing with his TV turned off

    You mean like this?
