HUT online + single seasons

There are just way too many issues in this disaster of a game. At this point I might actually say this is worse than NHL16 which I didn't think was possible.
I'm in the second season of HUT single seasons. I was 6-0-0 offline and 4-0-0 online before my first loss (which was offline to some 70 overall German team on pro. I had 37 shots 3 goals while they had 5 goals on 10 shots. Their goalie was way too ridiculous and their AI was WAY BETTER than pro. The previous game I had won 20-0 against TB on pro, no exaggerating it was 20-0)
Anyway I thought it was weird when a few games ago I had to replace 13 contracts :S I was 10-1-0 and thought it was a bit fishy I had so many contracts to change considering I'm only 11 games in and have needed about 6-7 contracts at spriratic times before. Today I go on to play a single season offline game. I won 5-2 but when the game finished it said my season record was 2-3-0. W.. T... F... ?. lol how when I only lost 1 game am I 2-3-0 this season. I was also prompted to buy 6 more contracts. One of which were for Andersen my goalie who I know 100% was in that batch of 13 I needed literally 1-2 games ago. No one else uses my Xbox except for me so something's terribly broken. I remember some ppl complaining last year saying EA accelerates the use of contracts to make it harder to play without paying. I've seen others with similar complaints of magical offline losses too.
I'd also like to mention how absolutely broken the gameplay is in NHL17. From playing Hut for just two weeks I want to break my Xbox 1 and go back to beautiful Legacy on 360. Why does the AI even on pro operate so much more efficiently than we can ? I played Munich redbull or w.e. they're about 70 overall across the board and I could never get the puck. The only time I got the puck is when they shot it at my goalie. I poke it away and it ALWAYS goes back to them. If the puck is loose I NEVER win the race to the puck. It's the same in eashl. Why are compies programmed to be so much faster than us. I didn't win one race with my team of 86-87 overall players against **** 70 overall Munich and yes my lines were green I change them after every play. They're also board playing, big hitting laser passing mutants. Yes I won the game 5-2 but it's ridiculous how much better AI is. When I pass to the point I have to wait 3 seconds to regain control of my player so this turns in to a turnover 80% of the time yet my AI opponents can laser pass it to the point and never have that same pause. I'm constantly battle the skating mechanics where the pause is just too long between stopping and accelerating. I'm faster in real life than these nhlers in this crappy game. Also why does my goalie hold it after almost every shot ? Why can't I choose to pass it out. The game is long and boring as hell with my goalie auto holding for a damn whistle.
One more thing. The AI is still brain dead and even worse than before (again I never thought it was possible) regardless of strategy they play the whole game like they're against me. It feels like 1 v 9 out there. They get in my way during a big percentage of break outs, they move away when I pass to them. Skate offside with no obstruction and go for too many unwanted line changes during passes. Puck pick ups are also so broken.
Honestly EA please stop focusing on graphics, they're fine. It's time to focus on gameplay. This game is literally a chore to play. I bought 16 and sold it after 2 months to play legacy and at this point I'm close to doing it again. I'm embarrassed I bought this game and 95% of my online buddies who came from legacy to 17 regret buying an Xbox 1 for this. It's truly a shame.

I dunno what's up with the difficulty. I got to Division 4 or 5 ... you play the Albany Devils followed by NJ and Texas Stars by the Dallas Stars. All games on all-star. Dunno how but the games against the AHL teams are significantly harder than the NHL teams.
As for the record being wrong, add that to the list of bugs. Last year I was able to complete every season and remain undefeated. One season it said I had lost a couple games though I never disconnected and hadn't lost.
I say it every year, HUT is becoming more and more of a cash grab. They aren't fixing their bugs, theyve removed replayability by no longer running tournaments, and they removed all strategy from the mode since you can play anyone anywhere now... it's basically play now.
And yes you are 100% right about the weird difficulty. As mentioned, I beat Tampa Bay on pro, 20-0 no exaggeration. Then lost to a German 70 overall Team that was also on pro. I wanted to record the whole game because I had so many chances but only netted 3 because the goalie was an alien from planet Carey Price while they had 5 goals on the 10 shots I had allowed. I was so pissed when I lost this game not only because of stats but just by how dumb EA thinks ppl are. I can beat the AI on superstar in play now or solo but something with single seasons specifically.. something's broken as S. H. I. T.
I think it's simply that the harder the difficulty, the less the player stats have an effect, as default. That is why all the scrub teams play like SC champions, and why your player seems so inferior.
Of course, chaning sliders will mean the experience is very different from online, but online HUT seems rather wonky anyways, so who cares?
Yes HUT online is where I see most of the crazy things in this game. I don't think you can adjust sliders with HUT offline but they're definitely broken. It's just nuts how inconsistent the game is and offline you can't blame lag.
Yeah there's clear adjustments. Nhl teams on all star or pro are noticeably easier than Euro teams on pro. It's so dumb. I gave up on HUT already though. They've made it so the average person grinding to get good players can't compete with money spending addicts.
The games almost always go like this: CPU puts on huge pressure in the first period, the game is almost all the time in your end, you can't even get the puck out. They intercept all passing and clearing attempts, or just take the puck before you can do anything. It's just crazy. Your passing percentage is around 20%, and CPU's is 90%. They usually score one or two goals.
Then the rest of the game you try to equalise, but it's usually pretty hard all the way down to the last minute. In one game it was 3-1 to the CPU until the last minute, and then I scored two goals with a couple of seconds in the clock. Then comes overtime, and I usually win that. Once ended up in penalty shots which I was surprised to win by scoring on first two attempts, and the CPU got nothing.
There seems to be a certain script going on in the game, but the trouble is, it's always the same script. I guess the devs have thought this sort of thing makes a really exciting game experience, but when it repeats every fricken time, it's anything but. EA, stop making stories!
Also, at the harder levels it's so frustrating that your hits do nothing to the CPU players, even when they fly like muppets in the air; you usually cant even get the puck before the **** clambers up and takes the puck again. Making three huge hits within one shift has no discernible effect on play, they just go on like nothing happened. Unless they're injured.
Or poke-checks, it's never enough to poke just once, you always need to do several attempts to get the puck truly loose. This increases the chance of getting a penalty. And even then it's more than likely that the CPU just takes it up again, or it ends 'by luck' to the CPU player. It is very seldom you can poke and get possession yourself.
But the CPU can poke and stick lift perfectly, and even when they do several stick-lifts where their stick ends up in your player's face, they seldom get a penalty. So they make like Paul Bunyan out there, and your pad is getting jarred all the time. CPU does not take penalties no matter what they do, unless your doing a dangle or protecting the puck at the same time.
Hitting works well, just the cpu is great at getting rid of the puck as you hit them. Poke check works if you're in good position.
It's also very easy to score on an overagressive cpu with point to point one timers.
There's no script, the CPU doesn't make a lot of mistakes and I'm glad it's that way. I still wish it was a little bit harder. Ive collected a few shutouts against superstar and still find it to easy to score certain goals.
Keep practicing, you'll get there.
The game is so frustrating and so scripted it's really not fun anymore. It made me mad at first, now I'm just bored, accepting HUT is just a way for EA to make money by selling packs.
Anyone has a link explaining how to change sliders for offline games please ?
You can't change sliders for offline HUT games. But if you go to Operation Sports, there are plenty of people there posting sliders for other offline modes.
And obviously I disagree with most of what you wrote.... so? Maybe I am not very good, but I can win enough of those games to get promoted to the next div, I am just not enjoying the games at all. The difficulty is so badly done in this game.
In division 4 right now, the first three games have followed the exact same script, except this time I score the first two goals in the first period, and the CPU chases me. Two times the game went to OT, and CPU won those, and one time I managed to score an empty netter in the last period, so I won it straight. The game play is pretty much the same, except CPU skaters are even more fast than before. This is on superstar and all the teams are now NHL.
I think I lost the first two games, because I made some changes in my squad, and by accident removed the wicked wrister bonus. Scoring WAS very difficult then. But for the latest game I fixed that, and in addition got cycle game, and net presence, and they seem to help some.
By hitting not working, what I meant was that hitting doesn't give you any benefit. Ok, you hit the guy and he goes flyign down, but before you can get the puck from the pile that's the opposing player, the bugger just gets' up, takes the puck and goes on like nothing happened. And getting hit by two huge bombs apparently doesn't have any effect on the CPU, they play like nothing. I win hits against the CPU about 25 to 8, depending on the opposing team, so it's not like I dont' hit hard and often.
What the CPU specialises in is these little nudges which dislodge the puck easily from you. It doesn't matter if you're protecting the puck or not, it doesn't matter if there's minimal contact, the puck WILL come loose.
As for poking, pokes do work sort of, but they never work like they do for CPU. Often the CPU even doesn't have to poke to take puck from you. And when they do poke, they always get the puck. Whereas when you poke, the puck might dislodge a bit, but not fully, or it goes in some funny direction, so that you need to poke about three times before your player can get to it. And it's often these lame one hand reaches which never work properly.
One timers, I really must suck with them because I rarely get one through. Either the CPU easily blocks them, or ties the receiver, or the receiver has already floated past the goal so the shot is at zero angle or worse. Or just plain can't hit the puck!
The best way to score for me is long bomb from the blueline, either straight from face off, or passing the puck around. Or just skate in between the points, and dangle a bit and then wrist it. I hardly even try one-timers at close range because they don't work for me due to above reasons. The success rate is so low.
I claim there's clearly a script to make the game close or 'hard', you saying different doesn't constitute proof to the contrary. And the devs naturally wont' say anything (or deny all manipulation mechanics).
Your essay seems to indicate that you struggle at playing at higher difficulties. A dev last year said superstar cpu cheats a bit, that the game is meant to be played at all star for the best experience. For people like myself who enjoy the challenge and can understand that the ai is going to be boosted we play superstar.
The rest of your claims are in fact just claims. I can't see the way you play unless you are going to post a period of play. I think playing against the CPU is the best Sim this series has put forth especially in franchise mode where you can utilize the sliders.
And you believe everything EA says... lol superstar 'cheats a bit' that's priceless. What do you think I've been complaining about? You seem to struggle understanding what you read?
But if you play tight d you can shut them down. With your logic it would be impossible to shut out the CPU or outscore them 5-1 which is also possible.
You seem to struggle playing the CPU, not all of us do. Don't blame ea for that.
There is no way any one can tell me there are no scripts in offline modes that allow late period goals.
, and come back goals.
And why are penalties so broken, you get goals scored by the wrong team on most power plays, IE the shorthanded team score more often then not.
One game I win in season mode 15-0 then the next game I miraculously forgot how to play and lost 9-7 when the opposing AI had 15 shots total!
The game just keeps getting worse because they keep building on the same broken game that has never worked to begin with yet EA believes they can add a patch in to magically fix this garbage!
Anyone in here on the positive side for this game in offline mode is clearly an EA employee or very naive.
Would you rather win everygame 15-0, or want a challenge?
sounds like the AI learned from the whooping and came back to teach you to not embarrass them.
