Movember Let Down

To start off, this is my first year playing HUT. It is an awesome idea and the fact that legends and heroes are involved makes it even more fun to play with the old timers that we used to watch as kids!

I have to say though, this has been one of the biggest let downs by EA in the mere 15 years that I have been playing their games. Religiously, I have purchased every single NHL game that came out (never bought that 2k crap) and probably every other Madden/FIFA/Baseball. I am a huge hockey fan but the franchise modes are much better in those games so it is a little more fun trying them out.

That is neither here or there though. The point of this post is to complain, like every other post this morning. For some of you guys that are active on here, you will have already seen the two other comments that I have made and will be a repeat.

Last night, with the much anticipated excitement generated from these forums, and my friends, I was PUMPED for these Movember cards to drop. I don't even care about the fact that the ratings go up. Knowing the fact that it supports Movember, having lost one of my best friends to cancer, gives me no problem spending money that will go towards to the research (even though it is probably a small fraction on what they make). I spent $265 last night and bought 15 Movember packs. I received 2 collectibles, a legend Niedermeyer, TOTW Voracek, and 2 Shea Weber cards. On any other day, that is....half decent... compared to what I have been seeing. With this much excitement, how can they not give a guaranteed PLAYER in 5-10 or even 15 packs?

I will not spend another $1 on this game, not even if you put out a guaranteed player pack. The fact of the matter is, if you have full intentions on doing it at some point, it should be known from the get go. You would still get the same amount of people buying which probably generates MILLIONS of dollars. Gone are the days that video games cost you $60 and you could play them for 1-2 years. Now you are making $80+ per game, and all the micro transactions. Talk about greed? This is supposed to be for a charity, foundation, however you want to describe it.

Anyone that wants to comment on how much $ I have spent, you are probably still flipping burgers and still have your parents buy your video games. Don't worry about what everyone else is spending.

Let the comments begin

  • I will say this. I'm sorry about your friend cancer is awful. Ea should give 50℅+ of proceeds during this month to cancer research. They don't and that tells you what kind of company they are.

One should never buy packs with money especially special packs that aren't guaranteed. Also my wife is a doctor so I can buy packs but I don't because I love going to 3rd world countries in the summer an living like a a king for 1-2 weeks.
  • Lol fair enough
As I mentioned, I am not complaining about the fact that I spent the money, more so the fact that there is no guarantee and no odds posted anywhere.

Am I wrong to say that these packs are a form of gambling?
Last casino I went to, odds are very easy to find.

Yeah.... Would be nice if a significant portion goes to charity. It would ease the pain for many people who r droppin $$.

  • And by the way, what type of doctor is your wife? Just curious. You can tell what I do from my nametag!!
  • Anyways, just want to share my thoughts on what I think is the biggest letdown...

You esentially HAVE to spend $$ if u want the top stuff.

Take the Mov sets. Sure you may get a Mov or even a Mov collectible. But to get Crosby, Im sure you need to complete all the Mov sets to get the Mov Master collectibles. Then you need to take all of those master collectibles, probably combine them with a ton of carbon collectibles, and then finally you can get the Crosby set done.

So for this weeks releases, you need to get the necessary things for Donskoi and Doughty. Donskoi certainly easier to complete relative to Drew. So if you're lucky enough to get those two sets done, don't worry. You will just have to essentially repeat the whole process three more times over the next three weeks.

To do that pretty much stop eating, sleeping, working, and stop going to the bathroom and just play HUT. Or drop in insane amount of cash....

I will be doing neither of those...
  • Oh my wife is a physical therapist you need a doctorate for it now. Boom doctor she is so stinking smart.

On another note they should post the odds it is a form of gambling. I think someone in another post stated that upper deck has to state the odds for their card packs. I'm sure if we saw the odds we would either be surprised or incredibly let down. Knowing the odds won't make people stop buying packs.

Also I'm sure you could figure out the odds very simply based on number of rare rated cards and the amount of 88-90s their are. There are basic odds obviously they have a different algorithm.
