Why I Don't Buy Packs With Money

Prev134
Been playing HUT since its inception... the industry of this game mode appears to be unregulated, so EA is not obligated to advise us of packs odds of receiving a certain item.
It is known that EA can tweak the card yields.
How do we know that they don't make it harder to pull a good card immediately after a promo is released? After all, you're pretty excited about the new promo and if you don't pull a good card in your first pack, you'll likely buy a second pack.
How do we know that there aren't a fixed number of a certain card released (like in real world hockey card packs) in a certain period of time? EA just gave your favourite streamer a free MOV card and now there are less available for you to pull.

  • I actually think I do better right away. Tonight I bought 2 of the 10 rare packs. Pulled milestone Doan and a totw. BUT you're right as we have no idea
  • I often wondered if there were only a certain amount released. OR if it truly was random.
  • I'm sure it's random. Think about the amount of possible players you can possibly get with different odds thrown in for different players and player ratings. So I guess really it's predetermined
  • the number thing interests me as well...

because if it is based on odds alone, we are still bound to see at least 1 high rated player more often than normal... I personally think they have a cap...

like, only 3 OVIs will be available in all packs for this month... but who knows
  • See with the correct algorithm that could be the case making the odds very small. So in a way yes only 3 could possibly be out in a month. It's all in the math.
  • Why not Tweet @EANHL17 and Tag the United States Security and Exchange Commission?

    but that's not true...

    think of it this way...

flipping a coin yields heads 50%, tails 50%...

but you can very well flip a coin 100 times, and get heads all 100 times although it is HIGHLY UNLIKEY... (these are what the claim to be pack odds)

what I'm saying is I wonder if EA literally makes it so once you get heads 50 times, the coin will automatically not get heads any more...

this will not be Pack Odds anymore, its a restriction. Hopefully this isn't what they are doing
  • Oh I understand what you are saying. So once you get that big pull they say no more. That's totally not the case though look at people on here some have some very good luck.

I think it is every card has a different chance to be this that or the other. Your rares will be rares but the chances of it being this player or this player vary.

Wouldn't be surprised if the switch is true. I remember when I used to buy packs I would get amazingly insane pulls. Now that I don't it's few and far between when a truly good pull occurs. Best pulls have been a patches and a neely aside from that all 87 or below mainly 85s and 86s. So o wonder if paying money just gives you more chances or they make the packs better if they are bought with money.
  • Optimistic way of looking at is that you have a better chance of pulling a good card than America has at getting a good president
  • Hey I don't have anything to say you are right.
  • no H8TTRICK... I am not saying once YOU get a good pull, they say no more to YOU...

I am saying I wonder if ANYONE pulls an OVI, they make it so NO ONE can pull him again for, say, one full month... or something like that

I doubt that is the case.

I could see it for one person but for the whole community no way. I think the math allows it to be within something like that though. Where you only see so many of one type of player per month
  • yea it's just a theory, well never know
  • We will never know. But knowing ea The switch theory is a valid theory
  • Go on..........

I just tune out here, I can't. You say "appears to be unregulated" as if it might be but or even should be, but isn't.

It isn't "regulated" and they don't tell you what your odds are. Never Have Never Will.

OK? Quit crying like a little baby about it. Go play another mode, you've made this rant enough times. You're probably one of those idiots in casinos who thinks all slot machines have to pay off at a certain rate or even at all.
EA can give you a smiley face flipping you off for your money and there's nothing you can do about it.

  • not quite sure what your point is.. either you're agreeing with me or you aren't... too incoherent

I can't see a possibility of them releasing only a set number of X card. How many packs are opened per second? Setting a percentage chance seems the easier way to do it... like: XX% chance to pull rare card and if rare 0.00000001% chance for it to be Ovi. You have to remember that setting a low percentage on a card still regulates the market overall; it takes a ridiculous amount of packs opened for one Ovi to enter the market.
  • i used to buy packs quite regularly in nhl 15&16, but this year has been such ****, all those sets are way to expensive to ever complete without spending major amounts of real money. i hate what EA has done to this mode..... they have gotten so greedy that they have lost so many gamers and fans of there game. so glad i sold my coins and got some of my money back. i recently traded the game off and at the moment have no urge to even care about nhl 18... way to go EA
