It's always "being improved", but it's not exactly something that can be slapped on the list of new features for this game. Won't exactly entice players to get this game like "NEW 3 vs. 3 Arcade Mode!!"
I just hope that the balance between offensive players with the puck and defensive players without the puck gets tightened up a bit. Would be nice to see Defensemen (and Goalies) be able to keep up with Attackers who have the puck.
No but it might entice former players who have abandoned the series to return. This series made 3 really bad mistakes that led to the ghost town we now see.
1: Changing the skating engine in 2013 . A large part of the community left after this.
2: NHL 15 on next gen systems. This really peeved a lot of longtime players off. They waited almost a full year to tell anyone that EASHL would not be included in the game. Using the excuse that they didn't have enough time to develop the game even though they skipped 14 on next gen and basically cut and pasted 13 on old gen.
3: The removal of customizing your player in favour of classes. This is probably the biggest issue for most even more then TPS. The idea was to give casual players a chance to keep up with hardcore ones. In reality however it removed the skill gap and made every player the same. A large number of people left when they couldn't change their attributes.
This community has become a shell of what it once was. If they want to keep the class system that is fine but allow us to rearrange the attributes so that we have more control over OUR player.

Wait, how the heck did classes remove the skill gap? That makes zero sense, because before that a skilled player could have worse attributes than a player who is objectively bad at the game, but plays 20 games a day. There was absolutely no skill in leveling up a player, simply time spent grinding in the game.
You're also making up some pretty big assumptions that people care more about player classes than TPS. I don't believe I've seen a 37 page thread about player classes yet...
