Be a pro future wishes for the dev team

First of all i'd like to say i have played Be a pro mode's since NHL 09 and this years NHL 17 be a pro mode over 350 Hours, Seven seasons, Make'd two skaters and one goalie. Using all-star skill level with customed settings and sliders, 7 min periods(most realistic shots on goal/per game) My Goal is to have most realistic and sim-kind of hockey game. Been talked many be a pro mode fans around the world and i hope they will add their feedback in this topic too.
Main thing is to have some good feedbacks to the dev-team for future games :)

Be a Pro in general:

- Some real depth needed in this mode. I like'd when this mode was live the life back in 13 and 14.
Meetings with coach and interviews could bring some depth and a way it'll affect to a players morale and person would be great. Also some locker room chemistry should be in this mode... like it's in franchise mode.

- Realistic trading and some way to look at to the possible team who are interested in you're player, some disquss with you're agent and gm etc. Looks like that in this years game trading is impossible.... Only when you are free agent you can change team. Also when you are free agent there should be some option where you can actually make some demands how long contract you are looking for and other terms with you're agent.

- The way you're players will grow is too easy... It's like two or three seasons and youre player is up to 90 in overall... in five seasons or more it's just keeps growing too much if you play well. There should be some kind of realistic setting gor this one. I dont want to my player be like crosby or some other superstar so quickly (Maybe never)

- Player training could have some bigger role, Maybe some kind of team practices where you can actually play it if you want to.

- Get rid off those glitches what we have seen in past three games, This year we have this "nobody fight" bug after first season, It's january and it's not fixed till date :/ No idea how these bug's really get's trough to the dev team during beta testing and stuff.

AI :

- There should be some realistic ai how coach will do the strategy's and make the lineup's.
The thing is that, Coach never change lineups in middle of the season except which line your player
will be. It's frustrating because if you're team play's badly coach never do a thing to change lineups or so,
Only affects where he put's youre player. There should be some major lineup changes all the time if
game's go badly, and ofcourse cratched player's should have some mix'd up during a season. More
trading too during seasons.

- I like how commentator's react some things, and how they told some stuff how player's and team's have played during season, more that kind of stuff and it will be great. Also player milestones are good add to the game.... more of that too :)

- More feedback to youre player in game. Too much same feedback line's all the time.

Presentation:

- Insant replay's should have some variation what kind of replays game choose to show.
Also the second angle of the replay should be few second's longer, now the NBC logo come too early in middle of the screen, so many times you can't see the situation how it ended.

- More diff variation how the game will present the start of game, more footage to the cities and arena's.

- Some statisctics more during game break's, Now it show's only the team's top scorer's stats. Also power play and PK % and ranking for the home and away team. More stats are only good, never a bad thing.

- Some real sponsors... Honda and Tim hortons are a good start. I know it's not so simple to add those.

- All game's shouldn't be sell-out's, Some empty seats during game.... if youre team have a bad season it should maybe affect how crowded arena is.

Sounds and music:

- Music of this game is totally gone bad... We all know it was pretty good in few years ago and it was good to add some own music too. Soundtrack is horrible and i guess everynody turn it off during menu. Also those arena music's are quite bad too, We need some real songs and rock music belongs to hockey!

- More realistic sounds to the crowd, screaming and noises.

Physics:

- More realistic physics to the contact's and hitting.

- How the puck move's around ice and when hitting player's during block's should be more realistic, Feel's like ice have too much grip when puck slide's on. When puck hits a player it should rebound there to the nettings or plex etc... not it's just stops there and just drop's to the ice. There was some topic for this one earlier in the forum.

I just hope that dev team read this and other comment's. Players really need to be heard :)
I hope everybody who love's to play NHL Be a pro mode's will join this feedback topic!

All the best to all here, let there be good hockey games

Hey There. Dunkin' Donuts was just named the official coffee, donut, and breakfast sandwich sponsor of the NHL starting at the Winter Classic this year. Their advertising should be more prominent in NHL the rest of the season. I am hoping they get into the NHL 18 game next year. As a former Bostonian before moving to Colorado for work, I am always happy to see Massachusetts based businesses doing well!
  • So you're saying you don't want your player to be good kind of like what 2k did foe Mycareer where you basically max out at a mediocre level. I agree with all of your other points though but I play be a pro to have that feeling of being the best. Also it takes so long to upgrade your player. I played every game of my ohl season where I started as a 69 or 70 scored over 100 goals 230 points and still only made it to a 73 by my nhl debut. Finally by my 7th season I had reached a 99.

Well, i understand what you mean. Personally i want it to be very realistic, i dont want my player to be 99 Overall :p Realism is my goal. I hope there will be a chance to set players growth in realistic way in future.

I really hope they will do much more in this mode next game.

  • -Great article I'd like to add and I forgot to add in mine is player roles like an agitator but doesn't always fight
-Or a shut down forward or defenseman with goals like play against Crosby or ovi and shut them down limit their shot etc
    - bring real coaches and philosophies to the game
    - Realistic trades with buyers and sellers
    - Reactive ai where they learn how you play and play with you or maybe it's not their style and line changes are needed
    - After ever hit you must fight needs removed, plus team scrums where players facewash or grab each other instead of everyone pairs off separately
    - Also there is no more after the whistle stuff only thing is fight let ppl agitate or take/draw a penalty
    - The thing that really kills me is every time there is a goal against it's always your fault even if your in good position, it's a goal not the end of the world plus the goalies are not the best and give up some bad goals but you suffer for it.
    - I have plenty more but these would be a good start it would be nice if the actually read these articles and what fans really want and make a complete game for once

They basically did this with 2K where for your player gets put into an archetype which is fine for a rookie season but as you later find out, you are only good at one thing your whole career. Example Slashers can only dunk or do layups and can't shoot at all. Michael Jordan came into the league as a Slasher but added things to his game which is why he is the greatest of all time. Also the highest you can get to is a 95 overall with ought having to play online, but your overall says 95 but if you create a player with the exact same ratings as you he would be an 80. Imagine now in hockey you come into the league as a sniper and then you realize all you can do is score. Your skill has no variety. You try to make a pass and it'd intercepted every time, you try to check someone but you get knocked down even though your 6'3 and he's 5'8, then you have no defensive ability and get penalties all the time, someone ices the puck and you have to get to it for the call but you can't skate because you're a pure sniper so the other team because as out the icing 90% of the time. Now imagine having your entire career this way but all that improves is your shooting and you can only be an 80 overall which means although you can score a lot you can only score as well as other 80 overalls in which your lucky to have 10 goals by the all star game. Oh and you'll also never make the all star roster. Oh also you are the only player in the league who is a permanent rookie. I get that you want realism but it's a game and I don't see why you'd want to play a game and be mediocre because that would ruin the game like 2k. Had I known that they ruined basketball I never would have wasted $120 on it. Archetypes only make sense for online play not offline like Be a Pro. I don't see the problem in wanting to be the best all time player because I'm sure if in reality you were the best hockey player in the world you wouldn't mind one bit. All I'm saying is that the NHL franchise is bad enough right now and making your Be a Pro player worse is not gonna help. If they did a be a pro online mode then that's fine because if everyone was a different archetype then there would be balance in games but when youre offline nobodies watching you saying what you're doing is unrealistic, it's just about having fun.

All he is saying is he wants the OPTION of not having a 99 overall player. Any of this could be accomplished with proper sliders or player creation options. After all, it is offline so maybe his expectations are different from yours and don't see why he can't have this option.

Well, many players like me want's this game to be realistic.... And be a pro should have an option to play it as realistic than it get's. I understand the fun factor what many players want but there is many hardcore fan's who wanna play it in very authentic way.
As far i have understand the 2k nba series is very good rpg style career mode. Maybe they can put some effort in this be a pro mode like it had before new console's. I think it's a shame that after new xbox and ps the game has loose some depth in many ways.

Yeah... it should have an option for realistic career sliders/settings.

  • Maybe NHL series has too many mode's in one game. Maybe this game should have one good offline game and if you want to be play HUT and other online stuff there's completely add-on pack for it.
I think many franchise and BAP player's are kinda frustrated to see all this HUT fantasy packs updated every once a while... Offline gamer's really want some good patches on offline modes.
    Any idea for that?

The other way around, maybe. The majority fan-base plays online modes. I was threw with offline franchise prior to nhl07 simply because I'd played that mode so much for a decade. As far as BoP, I've tried it and it doesn't appeal to me.

Although I doubt they'd do add-on packs for any mode

drop OTP, make the preset build class system w/ lobbies replacing OTP with no progression or whatever and let the leaguers have that.

then make EASHL what it used to be.

HUT is HUT it ain't going anywhere.

VS is VS and it ain't going anywhere. both of these are P2P either way.

I haven't put effort into Be a Pro in years do to too many reasons to list. But 2K's Be a Pro (which correlates to their online play.... cough cough) and franchise modes are simply deeper than what we have here. Not a knock on this team... it's better than Madden's as well which I assume has a massive budget and team compared to this one.
