You and jshuttlesworth are like children who don't get there own way absolutely stubborn it's genuinely unbelievable knowing you're both adults everyone else has came to some sort of an agreement but you guys it's either your way or nothing at all waste of time arguing with both of you I made very good valid points venom2099 essentially said exactly what I tried to explain to u in another way and u shut that down because u clearly lack the brain cells to comprehend simple things but as long as your simpleton brain is satisfied with the worst nhl game in history it's okay for everyone else to suffer because u know everything and u know everyone **** except you.
Two things for you my friend.
1.) calling me a simpleton and saying I lack brain cells because I disagree with your opinion of what online team play should entail is really ignorant.
2.) calling me a baby is pretty ironic when talking about this, and ill explain why.
As an adult, when you practice or study something you do it for yourself to get better, as a child or a baby when you do homework you get a sticker and candy.
I don't think you deserve sticker and candy (bonus attributes.) just for playing the game.

I don't miss Legend 3. It really just unbalances the game. They tune the AI in club to compete with the base characters. It always got goofy after a few weeks when guys would suddenly be blowing by your AI defence or ripping wrist shots from just over the blue past your goalie. I guess it doesn't matter if you're playing 5s or 6s but I rarely have that luxury. When I first started EASHL and had buckets of time, I loved it because we would just dominate people who played less. Now I'm older and the last couple of years I wouldn't even bother playing after Christmas because I was always way behind in progression. There's issues with this game but, for me, the preset classes isn't one of them.
Keep talking about artificial boosts all u want the matter of the fact is playing more only means you understand the game more and what works and what doesn't specific shots that go in everytime a specific unstoppable pass how to glitch goalies that's part of the difference that has **** all to do with actually getting better that's essentially just learning to game exploit cry about artificial boosts but in reality people in real life who train everyday and practice certain things like wrist shots should have artificial boosts or badges in a game why should everyone be able to essentially shoot the same just because they're the same archetype you guys cry out for realism and equality at the same time it makes zero sense why should people who are better have to be as equal a guy as trash players the plus 3,5,7+ don't have to be in the game but attributes and customisation absolutely should it should be fully customisable every other sports game does and surprise surprise every other sports game that people play is better than nhl for a reason that reason being trash archetypes no attributes and no customisation it's as simple as that

Also ur not disagreeing with my opinion ur disagreeing with everyone who doesn't agree with u on everything I aswell as bobbofloggins have agreed with numerous people about certain aspects with preset set builds with people who are for preset agreeing to some sort of hybrid type or simply having both in the game ur simply just against everything that makes the game fun u keep screaming out even playing field but the majority of players don't like there guy they go to be made 2 specific ways and play 2 specific ways it should be about the players you know the PlayStation slogan? PlayStation 4 the players yeah that's what the game should be forcing people to play a specific way with specific player type is not the way it should be how **** would the Nhl be if every position was only capable of doing certain thing such as a sniper not being able to dangle deke and hit and only be able to shoot it's trash absolutely and utterly trash it's the worst sports game bar none if you can't see that them ur either a delusional or b disabled

Seems like you're kind of defeating your own argument. If people who play more already benefit from understanding the game mechanics better, why would they need higher attributes on top of that? That just unbalances the game further. NBA 2K17 introduced archetypes this year as well. They allow you to upgrade stats but they have caps that basically restrict your role as well.

He is totally defeating his own argument, anyone that has good reading comprehension can see it.
I'm on the side of hating the player boosts unlocking feature from previous years. I'm extremely happy EA went to a class based system because that's what this type of game should be.
I totally understand why some ppl enjoyed the boosts unlocking system but i feel that stuff works better for games like Diablo.
I come from a fight game background as well and in the fighting game community no one enjoys boosts that gives their character a slight advantage. It's all about competition and seeing which PLAYER has the better skill. I anyone has played street fighter x tekken the whole gem boosts idea went over very poorly with players. "Pay to win" was a thing brought up often. Injustice 2 apparently has this too now but you can bet boosts alwpild be disabled in tournaments.
I have played EASHL with the same group of friends since 09 and even back then when we were younger and played more we would take a very long time before we hit legend 3. And by the one we are like months away from the next version already.
You could imagine now that we are older we have less time there's no way we would ever hit max level.
This game should be based on the skills f the people playing not the in-game characters. We just want an even playing field for everyone and compete based on our skills and team work not on who can grind out the most games the fastest.
Ppl mention not having incentives to play because of leveling up but isn't the point of team hockey games to win games as a team?
I do wish there was some sort of incentives to want to keep winning other than improving ones record in an overall world standing no one cares about. But I truly don't believe individual boost leveling up is the key.

Mate do you play NBA2k17? I know I do the archetype system is horrible most people don't like it everything gets patched constantly ALSO you use 2k as an archetype statement but forget to mention the artificial boosts through badges aswell as attribute +5 boosts not to mention the majority of players on NBA are either a playmaker or a shot creator now they learned what the overpowered archetype is and they use it to there advantage by speed boosting so using NBA as an example was absolutely horrific also another thing about NBA is you get to customise and create your own player pretty much how you want him to be and can make multiple like up-to 12 guys or something so yet again horrendous comparison
I'm defending my own argument of course I **** am do you want to attack it? Make some sense everything I've said is extremely logical as for you saying about the why get artificial boosts when people already exploit the game? Doesn't take a genius to go onto YouTube and look up the best way to score or easy glitches anyway you guys are missing the point I truly don't give a **** about the artificial boosts at all I'm just staying up for the logic behind them being on the game
My problem is being forced to play a certain way with a specific player I don't want to use
First of all the main problem is the game play obviously but customisation after that is the most important aspect of the game that needs fixed

"Most people"... Who are these people? Forum posters? The same people who complain every year about how THIS IS THE WORST GAME EVER!! They don't speak for the entire gaming population, I can promise you that. I like the archetype system in NBA and I think it injected a little more variety into the character builds as opposed to the previous year when everyone was essentially the same build.
I'm specifically saying I don't want stat boosting and I wasn't using NBA as an example of how I want NHL to be. I was merely saying NBA also deviated from a giant pool of attributes to specialized archetypes so your comments that "every other sports game" has full customization was false. I would be fine with NHL adding more layers of customization as long as it didn't include attributes. That said, it's hockey. It's not really a sport that allows for as much personal flair when it comes to style.
An open bucket of attributes is just an illusion of choice. At the end of the day, people just find out what the most effective stats are and everyone piles those on. The only real difference is some have more then others.

For one NBA has complete customisation so you're wrong you get everything from height weight ability improvement of stats badges which are artificial looks and several positions so again I was correct on my previous statement about other video games
My stats about people preferring L3 or not even L3 simply customisation comes from my friendlist on PS4 only my Canadian friends have NHL now all the Americans literally moved onto FIFA except the occasional one from Boston and Chicago they all left NHL and said they won't go back to it until the fix pro clubs/eashl so I'd say Atleast 80 out of 100 (PS3 at the time) was NHL players on my list I can say maybe 12 of those people have the new NHL and essentially don't play it and I really can't imagine how when I had 80 NHL players and it's now down to 12 or so being much different throughout the whole community of course there will be different percentages but from what I hear when I've asked my friends all want an NHL 14 type of game they say there friends also want the same and it's pretty much a universally wanted change not exactly a fact I understand but based in what I've been told and my knowledge of what people want when speaking to groups of people who want the game people like you are in the minority

Sigh.... how do you people not get this? It's very simple.
It's not about "beating people who are 70 overall" with my legend 3.
There's a matchmaking engine. You matchup against people in your skill range. You all make it out like every game you played under the old system was with someone who was 12 cards higher than you. Newsflash, you can unlock the same amount of points. Newsflash, most of the games you would play would be against people around the same level as you. Newsflash, you could beat a legend 3 team with smart hockey, even if you weren't legend 3.
The people that keep saying the same tired and untruthful point about "needing to beat someone who has less points than you" really need to stop. That point is terrible and will never convince anyone you're right. You make yourself look ignorant and unable to actually see the issue. Instead you resort to this pointless argument. Seriously, it's time to stop, think of a good argument. No one believes that lie.
Maybe, if you didn't like the old system, it's because you weren't good, and you just figured everyone else must have legend 3 and I only have legend 1. Try hard no life gamers!
Of course I don't really believe that. It's an example to show how stupid the "someone is better than someone else" argument is.
The game was deeper and more interesting the old way. It's boring now. I play about once a week, and it's starting to drift even further than that. I miss the old fun eashl. Now it feels too casual to me to enjoy. Pick up, play a game and turn it off. No big deal, everyone's the same level!

Thank you.
This has to be the most watered down game in the world it's missing so much basically NHL is American beer vs FIFA which is British beer.
You want to snipe? Pick a sniper? You want to play physical? Pick a power forward. You want to play stay at home D, pick a Defensive dman...you want to fight and tough people up, pick an enforcer...the variety is there...but guess what...your sniper is on a level playing field with the other teams sniper...now it just comes down to who plays better and takes the best shot.
Sorry you don't have a plus 15 on your wrist shot to "help" you score.
The L3 system was ridiculous.
World of Warcraft hockey hahaha.

You still can't understand it?
I never won the race to legend 3. I loved playing guys who I knew had legend three and I didn't. I would double down my defensive efforts. Winning those games felt so great. And when I would finally hit Legend 3, I was playing in higher divisions where everyone else was also legend 3.
It's not about having an advantage, or needing +15 to snipe. The way this crappy game is built, you can still snipe with an enforcer. I play with a grinder now because there I have no issues scoring with him. I snipe more goals than the players that choose sniper or hitting sniper on my team.
What I said wasn't directly aimed at you @sethamphetamines ...
That's cool that you liked the challenge...I get that...
"It's not about having an advantage" it is though man...you have the advantage when your player is artificially boosted with pluses.
That's just a fact man.
In the was you loved the challenge, I love the fact knowing that nobody is at a real advantage and everyone has the chance to do the same things out on the ice...
Keep talking about artificial boosts all u want the matter of the fact is playing more only means you understand the game more and what works and what doesn't specific shots that go in everytime a specific unstoppable pass how to glitch goalies that's part of the difference that has **** all to do with actually getting better that's essentially just learning to game exploit cry about artificial boosts but in reality people in real life who train everyday and practice certain things like wrist shots should have artificial boosts or badges in a game why should everyone be able to essentially shoot the same just because they're the same archetype you guys cry out for realism and equality at the same time it makes zero sense why should people who are better have to be as equal a guy as trash players the plus 3,5,7+ don't have to be in the game but attributes and customisation absolutely should it should be fully customisable every other sports game does and surprise surprise every other sports game that people play is better than nhl for a reason that reason being trash archetypes no attributes and no customisation it's as simple as that
Seems like you're kind of defeating your own argument. If people who play more already benefit from understanding the game mechanics better, why would they need higher attributes on top of that? That just unbalances the game further. NBA 2K17 introduced archetypes this year as well. They allow you to upgrade stats but they have caps that basically restrict your role as well.
The badges are specific to your chosen archetype. Your attribute caps are also specific to your archetype. Your height and weight are restricted by your chosen position. It's definitely not FULL customization although I'll grant it's more than NHL offers. One huge difference you're not mentioning though is that NBA allows you to develop your character entirely in the offline modes. You don't have to play against other players at all to max your toon. Not to mention you can simply pay your way to an 88 rating without playing a single game.
I'm not disputing your personal experience but I still don't believe it speaks for the entire player base or is even representative of it. Me and my 30 year old plus friends find relief in not having to grind out 500 games just to compete on a level playing field with the better teams.
I never found playing against L3s while I was an L1 to be some great fun accomplishment. Let's face it, a large portion of the community doesn't utilize "real hockey" to generate offence. A lot of them resort to exploits or easily repeatable "glitch goals". The majority of which are defendable but simply become more difficult to defend when there's a stat disparity. Especially if you're playing with AI defence which I often am.
You say you get a thrill out of beating players with higher attributes than you which is fine. I prefer to beat players with higher skill than me. And, on top of that, I find it much more easier to tolerate losing to players with higher skill than me rather than just higher attributes.
Replies
1.) calling me a simpleton and saying I lack brain cells because I disagree with your opinion of what online team play should entail is really ignorant.
2.) calling me a baby is pretty ironic when talking about this, and ill explain why.
As an adult, when you practice or study something you do it for yourself to get better, as a child or a baby when you do homework you get a sticker and candy.
I don't think you deserve sticker and candy (bonus attributes.) just for playing the game.
You naturally get better at a game the more you play it.
Who do you think is going to play better between a goalie who has played 30 games all year or a goalie like venom who probly has 200+? The answer is easy. They both have the same attributes but one will easily out play the other. The same goes for players too.
Take a game that is mentioned on here rather frequently, rocket league. Veteran players who have put time into the game are much much better than a casual player who only players every now and then. The skill gap is more noticeable in a game like this than the current NHL because the skill ceiling is so high. Imagine if rocket league gave those veteran players 'artificial boosts' unlocked through playing time on top of the natural skill gap they have developed over the more casual player.. They can wipe the floor with that casual player as is, giving them faster cars, more boost, etc. would be nothing short of ridiculous.
The focus for future NHL iterations should be to raise the skill ceiling and widen the skill gap. This would reward players who put more time in, more so than the current version. Making a player artificially better simply because he has played more in absolutely not needed.
Artificial 'attribute boosts' from playing the game should never come back, eh bud?

How people would even want to play against players that are 70 overall when they have a bunch of boosts blows my mind, it's actually pretty cowardly.

Sigh.... how do you people not get this?
