The same people who complain about wanting custom attributes back are the same ones who exclusively play forward, rag the puck and try to hustle straight thru four opponents, attempt a cross crease pass into huge crowds of traffic 99.9% of the time, wont set up on the power play, dont cycle, constantly back out of lobbies, wont pass to wide open d-men on the point and would rather shoot from behind the goal line, skate end to end and never clear the puck on a kill or dump and chase. These are the players who get the puck on the boards in the neutral zone and try to force it past 3 opponents to another forward whos clearly covered instead of making the lateral pass in the middle to the streaking d-man with speed and momentum already built up.
Instead of making the easy play, the smart play, and acting as a team and sharing the puck, all they care about is forcing their way into the slot and goals, goals, goals.

this game **** anyways, you have morons making it, who have no motivation because there is no competition any more, it caters to stupid kids and that dumb HUT, which i will NEVER PAY for, this game is old and boring, not buying NHL 18, this series is going downhill FAST
I'll hold the door for you on the way out. Lololol

I am a big proponent of classes, and certainly both of these people exist: the "Custom Attributes Revivalists" and the dbag players you described. But I am not sure how big the venn diagram intersect is of those two... and not sure how you would know that either?

he said it, it's on the internet, so it is #FACTS...........................
So they completely ignored what most of their EASHL player base was asking for again, and failed to produce the custom progression system? Yeah, they are def trying to sh*tcan people towards Cashgrab mode...I mean HUT. I think I'll cancel my pre-order...I was almost ready to give the the benefit of the doubt...but not anymore.
This is ****. If the game was only about HUT it'd be called NHL HUT 18. You don't go spending huge amounts of money and resources on a mode that is intended to push people to another mode. That makes ZERO sense whatsoever.
EASHL is boring because of the class system?
It was a lazy change, but I dont see how it makes the game boring just because you cant stack important stats and ignore meaningless ones.
How is it a lazy change? Just because they went with the even playing field approach you call that lazy? It's more skill based now. Not everyone has time to grind out L3. You have to rely on your own abilities rather than let the boosted attributes compensate for that.

because it is easier to throw pre-coded / programmed builds out than fix the problems the old system had?
i get all the arguments, but i don't think the above is really a question.
Gameplay needs updated for sure... too many wacky goals go in... too many go in because of a CPU or Human guy going into a puck pickup animation and scoring on his own net... too many times the CPU dman turns to go behind the net and puts the puck in... its nuts sometimes.
I am in favor of bringing back the progression system but I'd also be in favor of going to a custom build system where everyone gets the same points from the beginning and not have to grind. I'd be ok with it. I've said numerous times on these forums different ways and different ideas to help balance(in my opinion obviously). I know others have shared their thoughts on this as well.
What would you change about the current builds? How don't they meet your playstyle?

another person not realizing that it's not the user's fault the system was flawed.
so the developer solves the problem by just getting rid of the system entirely instead of taking the time / cycles and $ to fix it.
if the stats "meant" something, then you would admit that would have / could have solved the problem?
why people cheer laziness as a fix is beyond me.
oh wells.
Nice strawman.
He's not cheering the fix. He's saying that's not the reason the game mode is boring. The gamemode is boring because the gameplay and control of your player is terrible. Teams are more successful shooting turds alll game long than trying to setup actual plays.
appreciate your opinion on my opinion on why the game mode is boring.
Appreciate you improving your reading comprehension skills.
Appreciate your concern aboot my reading skills.
and it's not my fault you get beat by teams flinging turds on net and you have trouble skating.
try to project less, please.
Yeah, I'm guessing blick would beat you by 10 if you played him. Don't get mad at blick because you're bad at the game and can't read well.
You'd know exactly what he's referencing if you had any experience playing 6s against people that aren't as bad at the game as you.
Sorry bud.
cool. my response got deleted or glitched.
yes, stud... everyone stinks except you and your bff's and that, in life, in the end is all that matters.
I don't need thundernerds who live vicariously through EA NHL video games telling me ( and I assume others here ) why I may or may not feel a game mode is bland.
I am sure he / she / xe is the best dangle sniping celly'er out there.
keep yolo swaggin', dawg.
Well, if you're going to make a condescending statement that questions someone's ability at this game, I'm going to politely point out that he would beat you by ten. Sorry if that touches your feelzz.
I also love how you do something like that, then default to "woah dude, I totally don't care about this game. You're simply a nerd with no life." Once someone calls you out for being condescending.
Get over yourself bud. Blick knows how to play the game. Don't waste his time, my time, or anyone else's time by being a condescending loser who disregards people's legitimate complaints about the gameplay. Not everyone here is as dense as you.
I thought you said you were going to stop replying to me using your other account(s).
I appreciate you working to improve the game. Without you, this game would B a Mess.
He actually does make a point though, it really doesn't matter what side of the argument you're on, the system needed an overhaul, and likely still needs an overhaul to get true discrepancy between builds. NBA 2K, as I've seen mentioned elsewhere, does it pretty well where every build feels like the player type it's trying to emulate. It wouldn't matter at that point if you're using custom attributes or preset builds as all builds (IE: Sharpshooter maxed out is like all other Sharpshooters maxed out) end up pretty similar once attributes are applied, but there is a huge difference between build types.
I agree with this post 100%. The only reason I even play NHL, was to create my own player with my buddies and play on EASHL, level up and compete. They haven't listened to the fans in fixing this piece of NHL because they thought people didn't want it. Instead they gave you pointless badges to unlock like Hockey is a mindless FPS shooter.
Give us what we want, and previously had, that worked great. So stupid we even have to beg for something that used to be just fine...

Ask the question "WHY do people want custom attributes back?"
Do attributes contribute to having a level playing field for all players?
Are the people wanting attributes because they contribute to more team-centric playstyles? i.e. would bringing back attributes increase passing and cycling, would they increase the options to set up plays in the offensive zones and work together on power plays, etc?
Do attributes focus on anything such as 'synergy' or 'chemistry' between teammates? Are there any types of team buffs for having a certain type of player? What if, having certain stats or playing a certain class gave your team a bonus? Ex: If both D-men are running Defensive D, both players get a buff to Defense/Physical/Checking/Etc and the G gets a small buff to Reactions; if both D run Offensive, the LW/RW get a buff to something or other.
The reason I say this: its usually the same stuff that people always want in attributes - things that focus on the *individual* - skating speed, agility, checking, height, weight, etc. Very ego-centric, individualistic, stats about "my" player the way "i want".
In reality, my opinion is this: the 'Custom Attribute Revivalist' is the epitome of the COD player - Grind grind grind to level up to gain more points to unlock better guns with better stats so I can kill more enemies so I can prestige and get my Legend 3.
People dont want attributes back because they want the group of players to be better as a whole, they want their personal character to be a Wayne Gretzky God Amongst Men so they can be at the top of the leaderboard.
So we turned EASHL from what used to be COD individuals going for the highest K/D to trying to be Battlefield - specific classes, all with strengths and weaknesses, who work together to win the overall match instead of everyone running sniper and not PTFO'ing.

I'd be interested to know how people on both sides of the argument enjoy playing? Are you primarily a Drop in player, club with a few buddies, strictly 6s, mostly 2s/3s, or whatever you can get? Would be interesting to see if the way you play coincides with what you expect from the mode.

Now theres something contributing to the discussion, I like your thoughts! (No im not being sarcastic)
As for me, if you can tell by my profile on here, I dont have much of a history on the forums.
I play pretty much just Drop in, so it does affect my perception some. I usually always go for a D spot since its the easiest to find an open spot in a lobby. Sometimes I'll play G just because its fun to be that guy when you make some good stops. Ive never been in a club, dont really have a set group of friends or buddies I play with, there are a few people Ive had good runs with. Never done LG or anything like that.
Maybe if I actually got into something like a club or LG things would change my opinion on how things are? Ive looked into it and it seems way more in depth and structured and stuff, schedules and tryouts and what not. Maybe thats what I need to do to get out of EASHL what im really wanting...never really had the time to sit down and try to get into all that.

I'm 95% 6's and I don't care if we have preset or custom builds. I play what is given to me and make the most out of it. I still believe the preset builds need more changes to them. Like strengths more powerful and weaknesses greatly increased so they really don't specialize in them.
