NHL 18 EASHL

  • I'd like a plus 3 on my guys hot dog, I think it would give me an advantage during pre game speeches and after game showers.
  • I'd love for EA to do a blind test where you all play with a player and aren't told what build it is, and after 5 games with that player you have to guess what build it was.

I guarantee almost everyone who is so into "customization" would massively fail that test. They'd have no idea.

You don't think players can tell the difference between a 5'10 dangler and a 6'4 pwf?
  • Ok ok, I'd be ok with everyone being able to go +3 or -3 in every category...but please...no builds under 5"10...was so sick of playing a team of Danny Devitos every other game.

the avg player should be 5'10 - 6'2 but frankly there's probably more guys just under 5'10 than guys over 6'2 . A lot of the data suggests that the "growing" size of skaters trend has flatlined and may even get slightly lower over time. Smaller guys are getting stronger and stronger and often tend to be quicker players that can use that to their advantage.

it's all a balance. smaller has some advantages but taller does as well. but frankly the advantage shouldn't be I'm a big tall player so i can't get knocked off the puck ever and never get hurt and the smaller guy shouldn't have a disadvantage of randomly getting hurt on just avg checks. it's got to be smaller quicker guy but with shorter reach, loses puck easier, etc... bigger, longer player has better reach, maybe holds on puck better with contact (but nothing ridiculous) and maybe even has slightly better top end speed. these have to be the advantages to making your guys bigger/smaller/heavier/lighter but we have to stop with all the ridiculous parts of this game like injuries in eashl. leave that to the SIM games same with refs, breaking sticks, and a laundry list of other items that have been mentioned 1000x but EA never does anything about.

I'm not talking about height/weight, I'm talking about attributes...

I guarantee most people couldn't tell their own custom attribute build from one of the "cookie cutters" most of the time. Placebo effect is strong.

Don't expect a fix dude. Like that troll pointed out (more/less), this game is built around casuals and VG/LG league play. It's not an RPG. Either enjoy the watered-down hockey experience that is NHL 17 or play something else.

You're kidding me right. What's your clubs name? Wanting to "customize" your player's stats shows that you're not able to hang on an even playing field. Even capping each attribute at certain levels and total capping points makes sense, but the 99 horse crap from the old days is gone for good.

    that's right.

since you are not a top flight e-athlete, your opinions simply do not matter.
  • I can agree with L3 Stats from the get go and just fiddling with ur stats until u find the right build for each of your players I dont need the grind to get to L3 do I enjoy it? yes but i would not be opposed to just having L3 right away and being able to customise my character to my liking and my personal play style
  • one of the biggest problems with the customization was the fact that the attribute system was severely broken. No one really seemed to know exact what attributes affected, whether or not they really did anything, if there was hidden class based attributes or other crazy stuff. And after years of asking devs for answers we got nothing other than "whatever it says in manual".

But i know many many top players built players without putting a single point into key essential attributes because as they said it has no affect. allowing them to max out all of really important ones. i knew guys that put nothing in both awareness settings, hands, dekeing, balance, either shot power, checking, etc... played as 5'9 playmakers and could do basically every deke that mattered, snipe all day, hit 1time slappers with great accuracy, check hard all day, etc... it made no sense but it convinced me to finally start playing with those settings and found the same things. weird combinations that seemed to defy the attribute system. so many of the top players would be like 67 overall because at least half of what we would call "important" stats would be all left at default 60 or whatever. The other ones would all be maxed out.

it became a game within a game but at the end of the day it was stupid and ridiculous. the ideas behind new system were good but same old thing, poorly executed.

I agree, but you'd definitely be able to tell in the LEG 3 days. There were people that could exploit that system like crazy. Even if not exploit it, it made for some **** when playing against players with lesser cards. Such an artificial advantage. I see some of them players now...and I actually feel bad for them (a little bit...ok...not at all hahahaha)

I think injuries need to be a huge factor. If a player is going to attempt to dipsy doodle all game long then I'm going to attempt to crush him so he becomes afraid to do so. If that slows him down and potentially injurs him then so be it. If he wants to use his smaller size to his advantage against my bigger size, then so be it.

The broken sticks and other random stuff need to be eliminated.

I think injuries are pretty good where they're at in EASHL play. If I get hurt.... it's for an entire period. And your player is slow as a snail for the remainder of the period.
  • sorry that's just ridiculous. the punishment should be equal to the crime. advantages should be on the same level. the advantage to being a little quicker is offset by the disadvantage of being lighter, easier to knock down, knock off the puck, the disadvantage of reach. i find it hilarious that people that don't player smaller builds don't realize how far this game has come and how difficult it is to play a smaller build. a sniper can be on a breakaway with 2-3 strides on the guy, and get his stick lifted, almost always able to get poked from that far back. every time i go back to playing as a powerfwd i remember why every noob uses them, they are essentially easy mode. me i like the challenge of playing this game. Best of all worlds IMO was grinder or TWF but even that is WAY easier to play than lets say a sniper. unless you are cherry picking against noobs all day.

sorry but if you are saying that if you take a smaller build, whos only real advantage is his quickness, you should stand at very high risk of becoming slow as dirt from every single check you take, that is seriously unrealistic and stupid. it's for exactly that reason why smaller quicker builds play the way they do, avoiding contact at all cost. There's no massive disadvantage to going the other route.

The real problem is the bad skating engine causes the larger players to be more difficult at times to keep up with smaller players and rather than fix that we have to deal with injuries? And to be honest 95% of all injuries I see have nothing to do with "dipsy doodling" all game. Usually reaching out for loose puck at a bad time, hustling to the boards to chop/poke a loose puck, a 1timer but often on some kind of interference. And I've still never seen any clarification on whether or not when someone hits you after the whistle and you go through the injury animation, were you actually injured. but it sure seems like it.

I was a massive fan of Ea Sports NHL and had been playing the game since 2008 now I have not purchased the game since NHL 15. Why? Due to the fact people **** about the fact that on EASHL the majority of players could not get Legend 3.

THIS GAME ABSOLUTELY 100% NEEDS TO BRING BACK LEGEND 3
This archetype **** is stupid no one player in the NHL is the same
Bring back customisation I want to build my own player like I used to be able to. Let me create a Center a LW a RW a Defensive player and a Goalie. MOST OF ALL LET ME DECIDE WHICH STATS I WANT TO PUT ON MY OWN CHARACTER THAT I PLAY WITH. then let me choose his height and weight and how he looks.
good players like myself who reached (without boosting i may add) Legend 3 have lost out on these past couple of years due to people who cant play the game well the fun is out of the game now, I feel like I'm an AI player whenever I had the chance to play.
ALSO bring back the +1 +3 +5 boosts you used to have that you got for playing well you have ruined this fantastic game that once was my favourite game for 3 years running now I don't even buy this ****.

Just please please bring back Legend 3 and all of the customisation basically bring back NHL 14 with better graphics some game play tweaks updated rosters and better physics maybe try frostbite like FIFA and Battlefield? I Understand you have a small dev team but surely you must read that the majority of players no longer enjoy this game because of how you made the most played game mode.

I just hate this post because you didn't incude seperation from Left Defense and Right Defense hahahah

mate i was going to seperate but in the old system which was my main talking point you could only make one defensive player i absolutely agree that you should be able to customise both sides much like with the wingers

I just hate this post because you didn't include separation from Left Defense and Right Defense hahahah...

But in all seriousness, I don't agree with you here. I believe the community is getting smaller and smaller because the game isn't fun. I'm talking core gameplay. It just really isn't fun to play...Now, I said this in a different post and I'll say it here too. You may be right about losing people due to a lack of progression, but you may not be as well. I honestly believe if the core gameplay was solid, nobody would refrain from buying because you can't edit your build. If a game is fun, a game is fun. Overwatch does great with only cosmetic progression, why? The core gameplay is so solid. Rocket league does well with only cosmetic progression, why? The core gameplay is so solid.

    Just my two cents.

again I cant disagree with u you're most likely correct but its what we learned to love and enjoy for years and people tend to not like change and revert back to old ways which is kind of what im getting at

Yeah, I was just making a joke with the defense thing haha. But, @BoboFloggins made a great point in another thread, having both systems incorporated into the game might just be the only solution possible to appease all parties. Idk if that's feasible or not, but it's the best solution in theory.

Just makes sense to me.... Is OTP even really used? I'd say ditch that and implement what I was saying on the other thread.
