Does The AI Do To Much?

Prev1
So I haven't played HUT in a couple months and I decided to play my first game last night (Division 1). The connection was fine and the game play was smooth , I actually thought it might be a good experience for once. I was actually enjoying myself until I noticed that my opponent was just playing Center (not position locked) and letting the AI do all the work defensively. Now normally this wouldn't be an issue because I can beat the AI on most occasions ,except his team was stacked , sooooo that ment my 88 and 89 rated players were getting bodied by his 91+ heros and other special cards . Now most people who play the game know that the AI can hit you off the puck with a very little amount of force so when I try to protect the puck or deke they would either just double team and body me or get insane stick lifts and pokes. So while all this was going on , my opponent just sits at C waiting to see if i can beat his AI and get close enough to the net for him to finally do something.

Basically the game went to OT and my goalie ( 90 Jones ) let in the old wrister from the blue line ...

sooo ya I think another couple months without HUT sounds good.

So what do you guys think? Does the AI do to much ?

Replies

  • apparently they do... or else why would people complain about "skill zoning"?
  • My AI does nothing but fight me the whole game.
  • Yes the AI is "too good"

Also, player switching is so so so horribly bad. So is pivoting on defense. And lag.

People definitely take the cheap/easy route by not player switching. Since you're a D1 player, assumedly a pretty good player...you'd figure out a way to burn these types of opponents after a couple games.

Keep fighting the good fight. SkillNone needs to be out of the game ASAP
  • Idk if position lock is a dramatic difference or something but I've never even been threatened by like the 7 people that have done it. The AI are fairly easy to play offense against I find. It's called the pass button.
  • The game only becomes difficult if the AI is incredibly aggressive because they can follow you better than a human. Also they're pretty good a hitting.

Aside from that, I don't have any issues playing anyone who let's their AI play for them. It's not very fun but it's almost always a guaranteed win for me. They're easy to mess up if you pass well and keep things unpredictable.
  • Ya I should be able to burn these AI but like i said it has been months since I played so i blame myself for the loss, just thought the AI was a little over the top some games and just makes the game to easy for some people. I swear some people i use to play didnt deserve to be in D1 but they are.

Some games the opponents AI is OP and mine are **** then other games its vice versa, this game is just so random and inconsistent .. well this GAME MODE is anyway
  • And I do try to pass and cycle the puck as much as possible but the AI are always there to intercept , maybe i gotta work on my saucer passes
  • I don't really ever use the saucer pass. I find just work the perimeter. Wish I took what human defenses give me like I do AI ones. I force pucks way too much.
  • And I do try to pass and cycle the puck as much as possible but the AI are always there to intercept , maybe i gotta work on my saucer passes

Wish I could say the same about my AI, they refuse to play the puck most games , or even face the play.
  • Saucer passes are amazing if you know how to use them because it seems like the ai doesn't recognize them and they freeze
  • Ya alot of passing back and forth works really well against the ai I will go kinda deep with my forward pass it back to the point only pass it right back to that forward who is now incredibly open with tons of space.

Especially because most people play tight point puck side attack this year
  • I agree with the passing more. And I can't saucer pass to save my life. Always behind the guy

Saucer-pass is EPIC when you practice whit it. I use it EVERY game. The boards are you 7 player on ice B)
    Og'sån'er'det!
  • Imo they could do less if EA finally got the player change to work. This year it has been so very frustrating to try n find the player you want. And once you finally get the player you want, he's full-steaming into wrong direction and can't accelerate. Might have played enough NHL17... And I'm foolishly waiting that next yeat it'll get better.. not.
  • Ill definitely take some of the advice given. Adjust my strategies and try and work on my saucers, hell maybe ill even open a pack for once.

I agree though , once EA fixes the player switching ( if they ever do) and tone down the AI a but, then it will be a better game .Not gona get into the whole random **** that goes on in the game (Momentum)

Apparently they have a couple prototypes for player changing, one way of doing is holding the player switch button and using the skill stick to point to the guy you want to be ... myself I hope it's the player closest to the puck in front of the play, this way skill zoners can't switch to back check, and it forces a player more to play player vs player , something ea devs have said they wanted.
  • The opponents AI picks of way to many passes, even when not looking...explode you with hits...then my AI seems to get flat footed and never intercept passes and run into my players....
  • The AI needs to be a grammar **** "Does the AI Do TOO Much"
  • Anytime someone whines about the AI being too good, they suck at the game nine times out of nine.
