Tell me about it...funny how so many people are having the exact same thing happen to them as I am. Far from a coincidence!!!
I happen to agree to an extent about imposed losing streaks. I am a mediocre online player at best and spent some money to acquire a solid team to compete. The better my team got the worse things went. Last competitive season and this season I find that I lose 3-4 in a row then win 3-4 in a row. Connection plays a big roll but half the games I lose because I'm playing someone who is just flat out better than me but when I lose 3-4 games in a row where I outshoot the opponent 30-9 and dominate time of possession and attack zone time and lose 4-1 it's frustrating as all hell. I have had multiple games where I dominate the first period and outshoot the opponent and only give up 2-3 shots then the 2nd period starts and all of a sudden I'm being dominated for the remainder of the game and lose. It's like I'm playing a totally different person and team after the first period. it doesn't help that nothing EA has done to patch the game has improved the online goalie AI. Everyone just skates over the line and shoots and way too many goals float in. Played the morning and rage quit. My opponent scored on his first 3 shots I scored on my first shot.....simply not fun. Strange that my best goalie by a long shot is a series 2 90 overall Crawford. When I had any of the higher ranked and elite goalies I was giving up 4 or more goals a game.
I am on one of those losing streak something like 3 -17.
What I am noticing is my opponents goalkeeper is always positioned perfectly so you can't hit the snipe shots in high % positions.
Whist my goalkeeper is giving up the space and throwing the puck in the net so often.
It just seems off.
This after just playing a guy who only got 10 shots on me all game. Lost 6-5 it was unreal. I was peppering his goal with shots that normally go in. Had about 5 breakaway scored none of them. 2 of his were ridiculous slap shots from near the boards. Another 2 where when the goalkeeper decides to throw the puck in and then other 2 were him running over my keeper and it not giving a pen. Or even for kicking in..
I dont think theres anything implemented either in the game for a losing streak, yes it does feel like it at times but its probably a combination of a lot of things. for me it probably has something to do the time i play, i have 3 days off in a row and stay up playing a few games. i lose 60-70% of those games, usually match with guys in the top 100. they skate circles around me score 5-7 goals a game... i give credit where credit is deserved, those guys have skill and yes a majority of them exploit weaknesses in the game a little more then what i might. I just like to play the game, build what i see as my ultimate team and enjoy some hockey. others just want to win and be the best at exploiting the game to the fullest and thats what has made so many of us hate playing this game at times. its a video game, its human engineered and wont be perfect. theres just too many people out there that dont see the game as you do, winning and scoring 10 goals a game to them is more important then whatever goes on outside of it. at the end of the day realize that your life outside of this video game is probably more enjoyable then theirs and that this is all that they have, lol so let them have something
i know there are people here spending north of $1000 on this game, its not fair to them the way gameplay can be. they invest all this time and money into the game to get some of the best players and to be absolutely humiliated by an opponent whose players are not even the same league as theirs is... dont have words for it. i know when i play anyone on my friends list in versus friend the games are even and players perform the way i see they should, i wont say they should. if i match with them vs online is a total different game.

I got 94 Stamkos in a pack and decided to sell him to improve my team as a whole I got 9 more 90+ players including Roy 93 rated in goal. Since I improved my team I have won 2 out of around 20 games !before I'm like div 5 or 6 I know I'm not great but I find people my level. It's like they match me with teams that have similar teams to me rather than players my level. I'm playing guys with 60-9 records when I'm more like 25-30 I cannot win ever now I have improved me team. It defies the point of the game improve your team-improve your chance of winning. Roy hasn't saved a single one on 1. It's a shame cos I loved this game before. I will be back in div 10 in no time I'm not even close to winning

My friend is in the same boat, i spend half my time playing and other half hustling players to make coins to think im going to keep up with these other teams and ive made enough coins to make him a pretty decent team. he has a few team synergies active and 4-5 player ones... hes been around div 2-4 for the past month or 2. since the 1.07 update hes lost 18/20 and the gameplay has been horrendous. the only synergy that has made any noticeable difference for me is team wheel, without it my players dont skate. as for the rest of them, no synergy has made much of a difference to the way my team performs.
This is no coincidence...everyone is playing cause its TOTY time and the servers suck...one guy gets the lag compensation and the other guy gets all the horrible delay

I started winning finally and moved up from 4500 to top 700, I guess EA gave me the wins, had nothing to with the combination of skill and some luck..................... (irony)

Ya I went on a losing streak yesterday as well. Notice I said "I" because I wasn't playing good defense and I wasn't doing the things that make me dominate opponents I got frustrated and tried the same thing over and over. Didn't put pucks on net got beat because of it
