If EA gets a new Play by Play Team

Prev1
Go with TSN Chris Cuthbert...did I spell right?. I know CBC 's Team is the word that is flying around right now..but I always liked Chris..so upbeat. He does CFL Football too correct?.

  • Sorry mate but Who listens to Play by Play after the first 3 days that the game is released?? After that 3rd day, I've heard all the same phrases, don't want to listen to the same repeated phrases every time I play the game so I turn the Commentary volume to 0
  • Won't happen because the NHL is in bed with NBC. Doc and Eddie will be around for a while longer.

NHL and NBC have a 10 year, $2 billion deal in place until 2021. I doubt EA will be able to use anyone else other than maybe Gord Miller and Pierre McGuire.

There a clause in the contract after X years to decide if you want to part ways or not. And it doesn't mean they need to continue using the current announcers.

They should do what Madden did and hire actual voice actors. They are better at the job, and are available for many more hours for recording sessions.

OMG yes please. Video game voice actors that understand hockey could a much better job at conveying the sport. Seems like the real deals just can't manufacture fake hype.

I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks, I mean look at the movie Miracle. How do you have Al Michaels try to REcreate that iconic "Do you believe in Miracles" call for a movie??

Its not easy, i also dont think having real commentators in the games nowadays is as important as it was 10-15 years ago.

  • It would be hilarious if in eashl drop in games there was an option for 2 ppl with mics to choose commentary and both sides can hear them lol
  • I was thinking about Gord Miller the other night...and thought I'd take Gord.
  • Voice actors....i could care less about a real life package...as long as they mimic real life coverage like stat overlays and standings during the game...i think voice actors makes the most sense now that someone mentioned it

Not sure about that, NHL also has a huge deal with Rogers up here in Canada, bigger than the NBC deal. I wouldn't mind Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson again with Ray Ferraro in between the benches

i used to do this when I played goalie...I imitated Doc and was brutally honest like...
..."and the right winger has the puck ...going up the boards...and for the fifth time in a row, he takes it in and gets lit up and turns the puck over"
    I had people cry laughing

"He just won't stop getting REEEEEEEEEEEEEEFED."
  • Gord Miller. No one else. Well, maybe that radio commentator for the Panthers games. I forget his name, but he has some pretty funny one-liners. Such as:

He scoreeeees!! You are NOT the father!!
