im all for sharing thoughts but saying strategy's dont belong in a very strategic game like almost every sport out there is ridiculous to say the least
I wonder how much of an impact the **** player switching has on people "letting the AI play for them"?
I know on the odd occasion that I do play VS I find myself switching players a lot less than I would have back in NHL 09, 10, etc.
Because in those days if you didn't switch to a defender you knew that the CPU wouldn't play the game for you. And it would basically be nothing more but a pylon. So you were forced to switch to the defense and...Get this concept "PLAY THE GAME FOR YOURSELF"
EA has made the game for the casuals. You are basically playing "CPU vs CPU" with human controlled players only truly taking complete control when they are on offense.
Yeah bud I don't think that's necessarily a good thing. I want the AI defenders to be close to human level skill as well as the offensive AI. It would make it more like playing with and against humans. As long as AI players can't pass and shoot by themselves then the games will for the most part be decided by skill.
I think there are other factors that take skill out of the game that are much more apparent such as goalies letting extremely soft goals for one team and stoning prime scoring chances for the other.

Saying stuff like that leads to AI doing all the work and users taking the easy route and not playing it themselves.
While i agree position ally they should be smart, Anything more than that is trash in a game mode that allows you to control your whole team because it than promotes what we have now like the skill zone and the trap.
Positionally smart, and actually making a play smart are two entirely different things
Hey, why not start an urban style NHL league the way FIFA did?! I mean! I'm **** Canadian. And playing hockey here, in our streets is the the urban hockey. The U.S.A plays basketball in the back yard. We play hockey. I'm Latino and I'm proud of being Canadian and proud of hockey! And let's be real! This is Canada's game!!!!

Why do I get the feeling you didn't really read my post?
To reiterate, I find myself switching less because:
A: Switching to the player you want to control is seemingly random.
B: Even when you switch to the player you want by the time you can get them skating in the direction you want they're already out of position.
If player switching and responsiveness of the player when switched to were the same as years past I'd personally switch to the player closest to the play every time. But as it "functions" right now it's more risk than reward and I find myself being more selective of when I do switch.
You realize if you hold the right trigger down for a half second that it will switch to the last man back correct? There is no excuse to allowing the CPU to play the game.
The only reason people are doing it is because the game is smart enough to stay in postion and poke. It will also do the sticky chase thing where the CPU will chase you down and pin you any time you are near the boards.
Which kills the cycle most of the time. I also love the people posting how to beat the A.I sure there are tricks but try doing them while the player you are facing is leaving himself locked at Center and is running you from behind and into the CPU.
I get what you are saying about switching players. In NHL 18 EA needs to fix the problem and dumb down the A.I in Vs. and HUT modes to force players to play the game themselves.
NHL17 is basically "Who is the best at Be a Pro" because it certainly feels like that's the mode I am playing whenever I play somebody 1v1

Hey, I'm sharing thoughts man. Sorry. Just looking for some fun and fairness.
Funfair.
