3v3 should speed up the game, its a much needed arcade feel this game desperately needs. The game has been in decline since NHL13 and TPS, after a few months I believe 3v3 EASHL will be more popular than 6v6 EASHL, iMO of course, we will see.
I think the casuals, newbies and those that only play forward will play it more. Also those clubs that run with only 2's and 3's will play it more.
Those that prefer 6's, playing a team game and that are in one of the numerous leagues will stick to playing 6's.
Unfortunately, all of the big name streamers who have never played hockey get to provide more input into the game than the hardcore community that wants actual hockey. These HUT **** will jump on the 3v3 bandwagon because they think that's where this game can be an "eSport" even though we all know NHL 11 EASHL was basically one, and had the devs just ran with that, the game would be decently sized now.
This game is the result of short millennial attention spans combined with losers who have never played hockey before, but get to be huge voices for the game because they open virtual trading cards all day while the rest of us work.
As I've said numerous times, we should just crowd-another NHL Hitz. Game would be 1000x the game EA could ever produce, since were apparently going the SicKK DANgleeZz 3v3 route anyway.
That's actually pretty well said.
That is what's happening past few years. Even our GC group reflected that and was build around the card game mainly.
Now as they opening this Pandora's box with Threes, I'm honestly don't expect the things turn for the better. It will be worse imo, much worse for the hockey video gaming.

That's because the gamechangers that are huge into HUT are the ones EA feels like will help sell more packs. Give these hut streamers a ton of free packs for being gamechangers and in turn the viewers watching them will either donate money to them, which they will use on even more packs, or watch the stream and get an urge to open packs themselves. I said right from the get go that the gamechangers program was a publicity stunt for EA.
Sure, the devs might toss the gamechangers a bone here and there with an easy to add, small change thing in the game to make it feel like they are actually helping. But the reality is, they probably already have set what they are doing each year as far as features and what they plan on working on.
Yep, Assisted is right once again. Gamechangers is nothing more than a publicity stunt. They are just rah-rah cheerleaders who get free copies and some free HUT packs for doing so.
Tell everyone that the **** they are eating is strawberry sherbet.

Exactly, I watched 2 years in a row these guys streaming hut and ripping open packs before the game released while at EA, and saying how it's the best version of nhl ever, yet in reality these have been possibly the 2 worst years of NHL yet.
That eashl/otp game they played against the devs or whatever it was... where they asked all the questions that the people watching the stream were asking... those were the most cherrypicked questions ever, I still remember half the chat laughing at how much they were avoiding asking the devs the real questions everyone wanted to know... apparently 90% of the community only wanted to know about mascots and visuals...
GC's praising the game is just the honeymoon effect. Can't blame them.
Look at everyone's opinion of the betas, same thing. People get to play the new game for a week and most people here enjoy it. Game releases, and a few months after most people here start their perennial moaning about how their life is ruined because the NHL game sucks even though the gameplay is exactly the same as the beta or hardly changed.
Inb4 the inevitable complainers come here to say that EA tunes the beta to play great and then intentionally ruins the game upon release so that people will buy next years game. Here's the updates/tuners that happened since the last beta: https://forums.ea.com/en/nhl/discussion/81396/nhl-17-patch-tuner-notes-updated-feb-8th-2017#latest Feel free to explain which tune you felt ruined the game. Some of us use tinfoil for cooking and it's other intended uses, please save some for us, eh bud's?

Bud, buddy bud...BUD. What are you saying?
How can you ignore everyone who says that goalie and defense feel completely different from the beta to the first week of release? There is no denying that in both NHL 16 and 17, bubbles magically appeared to protect forwards from getting smoked by checks they are too stupid to avoid on the release date?
Or how about the goalies that suddenly have gaping holes between their legs and in the armpit area?
NHL 16 goalies were straight trash, but in the 16 BETA, saves were made that needed to be made...at release, we were back to positioning meaning absolutely nothing.

Why wouldn't they just make the 3s mode in a smaller rink? With human goalies able to play?!!!that would at least make it somewhat fair and fun!
Common sense...it's been eluding Ea for awhile now.
I thought I read the ice in 3v3 was 75% the size of normal Nhl ice. Is that wrong?
I for one can't wait to play some 3v3, 3 players is usually the most my group of friends can muster except one day on the weekend, we stopped playing because the AI were so frustrating to play with. It'll be nice to cut them out of the equation. Besides the goalies... hopefully the don't make insane saves on one end and let in weak wrist shots from 40 feet out on the other like 17.

NHL3s will be on a smaller ice surface but EASHL 3s will be on a full surface.
In addition, the NHL3s mode will be the more arcady version with the mode specific slider set and special commentator.
EASHL 3s is simply smaller teams still playing the regular EASHL experience. Your EASHL team can pick to play 6s or 3s (technically 4s...but goalies dont count for some reason) from the menu.
How the leaderboards and club customization awards reflect that will be seen soon in the Beta I assume, just like how they were showcased last year.

I heard human goalies can't play in the "3s" mode.
Only in the EASHL 3s mode (with the normal rink)

That's what i meant though, which is why i made that distinction saying EASHL 3s should really be called 4s since we call 6v6 a 6s game.
