This game is worse than the beta. The game feels so slow. The right stick movement is still terrible. Feels like EA is forcing us to use the new dekes instead of the right stick. Pick ups are still poop. Pokechecks are OP. Using the LT just stops you when you want to glide. So much potential but continue to drop the ball. Lets hope it all gets fixed before release

To the bolded, stop skating straight at the defenders. You should dump the puck in if there is no way to avoid them.
  • I'm kinda confused by the feedback on the game feeling "slow." If you want 100 MPH, arcade action that's pure offense and hitting, there's NHL 3's for you now.

  • Acceleration is a bit low, takes half the ice to feel like you reach top speed.

TPS is still a problem, although skating did feel a bit smoother but from past experience I will say that is because traffic is low being EA access trial period, once the game fully releases and everyone jumps online I suspect the servers to bog down creating more sluggish/input delay as usual.

EASHL 3's is fun to play, this will save the game this year.

As opposed to real life where skaters get to top speed in 2 strides?

I'm confused by the fact that every time someone mentions they want a faster game, you assume they mean rocket hockey. If that is one extreme, and the current speed is the other, we all want something in the middle-ish (see: NHL 10).

Anyone who has played hockey knows that it's an ultra fast sport that requires split second decisionmaking. It's referred to as "the fastest game on earth" for a reason. EA fails to capture this in just about every game mode. Cheers.

Last I checked this isn't real life, its a video game.

Its not even skating into them, its in general. Even the goalie pokes are insane but it all falls into EA forcing us to do the new dekes if you want to make any sort of move, the Right stick movement feels like day one of the Beta if not slower, if they were to make it a tad bit faster than the updated beta i think it would be fine.

This is what I have been saying for YEARS!!!!!! The 1 vs 1 online is slowwwwwwww. Pick ups, passing, skating are just slow. My buddy who doesn't play video games and just watches and heckles us when we lose, was watching me play and was like "this is [Removed by @EA_Roger] boring." He'd rather watch golf. Lol. Until Rammer goes, this game will always remain slow. Madden went thru a few years of slow moving football but last year and now this year they've corrected the problem.

Yea agreed. but most people want this to be realistic hockey...

you have half the people who want a sim, and half the people want arcade... this is why people argue constantly because people literally want different things

**I didn't mean to come off aggressive

Can anyone comment on offline skating speed and responsiveness?

I agree the deking has been very slow since the move to next gen. But the dramatic difference can be felt from one player with 70 deking vs 90.

So i have to ask, are you playing EASHL or VS? In VS, it is possible you may be trying to stickhandle with players who simply aren't very good at it to begin with. When it comes to EASHL, are you using an offesively oriented skater class, or the more physical (larger body) players?

At least when i played the beta, I was happy with the difference between Dangler and Grinder as an example. Have the classes been dumbed down to the point where their strengths don't amount to much again?
  • You have to read the gap as a puck carrier and move the puck accordingly. You have to move the puck as much like a real player would as you can and not trap yourself with poor puck control and skating.

Long story short work on your thumb skills and you'll be fine.

I only play EASHL and i only play as a playmaker. The movement is just slow and feels like im using an enforcer with 45 deking. another thing that is awful is the LT or L2 when it completely stops you when you just want to turn around and skate backwards.
