Defenseman Ranks

Will there ever be a time that defensemen are ranked in the game above and beyond just goals/assists? It's always tiresome to play solid D (and maybe average a point or two in drop-ins) and be ranked lower than John Q 4thForward who has a high point score but a -500 +/-

I'm not saying goals & assists aren't valid in ranking...but maybe factor some other things like hits, blocks, giveaway/takeaway %s so those who actually play solid D can compete more fairly in the rankings for their efforts.

  • Defensemen should be ranked by defensive and team grades, then use total points as a tie breaker. I suspect top defensemen who are top in scoring and points carry a lower defensive and team grade.

Defense should be graded on defensive ability and teamwork ability, not offensive ability.

Same should be for offensive players as well, ranked on offensive grades and team grades, with tie breakers being points.

Otherwise its all about who plays the most games, not about performance.
  • When the 'coach' suggests to a defensive d-man to do a spinorama in EASHL, that's all you need to know about the appreciation of defence in this game. ;)

Gotta love it when you play as a DDman and get 100% in the D category but only a 78% overall because you didn't complete enough open ice dekes.
