No custom skaters in Franchise Mode?

Okay... I can't play this game the way I have for 8 years. I'm a father of 3 boys, and I always create them to play franchise mode (or whatever the equivalent has been in past games). It's a fun little means of including them and they always get a kick out of seeing "them" playing NHL hockey. Now that's not possible? Franchise is all I buy the game for. I've never played online, I enjoy the offline franchise experience but this honestly ruins the game for me... is it possible to get an answer on if/when this will be fixed?

    Exactly the same for me, i create myselfnand my 2 boys, franchise mode is the only thing i play on nhl. Been buying the game since 1994...

    It still works under the classic GM mode

    Yup, just figured that out. Not a huge problem then, at least I can still play the 31 team NHL.

    Luckily! If you couldn't do it AT ALL I would have no use for the game as I primarily play Franchise mode.

    I was able to create two skater of 20 years of age for my two boys. I left them as free agents and was able to sign them as free agents in 32 expansion mode playing as golden knights. Maybe the trick was leaving them as free agents instead of assigning them a team

    You can't. Adding them to a CHL team. It's broken. Doesn't work in expansion mode. FIRE SEAN

    In the same way, if I custom Jake Guentzel C -> LW, it will appear in the Classic mode, but not in the Expansion mode with 31 or 32 teams, is that right? And do I have to put him UFA or I can leave him with the Pens?

    There's a way to get created players in Expansion Draft Franchise. Gotta make them 17 and then they'll appear in the 2018 Draft. There are other threads that explain exactly how.
