Just bring in a story mode that is worth playing!!!
-make me sign a contract and let me negotiate it with gm's and my agent
    - let me do drills in practice and make my pro better while practicing (nba2k18 badges)
    - let me have locker room interaction with teammates, coaches, staff, and fans
    - let me sign end
    - LITERALLY JUST PLAY NBA 2K18 AND DO EVERYTHING THEY DID WITH MyCAREER
There are so many things you can do to this game to make it better but making an "NHL 19 The Life" Kind of thing and improving the terrible online server situation you will do so much better. The game is already great gameplay wise.. Just show people what it is like to take the "road" to the NHL. The BACKSTAGE PASS!!!!

  • I would like to see Player Development in EASHL even if it's player traits such as FIFA has, EASHL has been the same boring game mode since NHL 16 wth the addition of customization things instead of gameplay updates. I also believe they should add GM Connected again, EASHL should get either a Pond Hockey Rink, or a winter classic rink option. HUT should try releasing less special cards bc the market is trash now because it's basically pay to play.

I have a lot of concerns. I'm a hard core GM and BAP player and there are so many issues.

    BAP:

    - I hate the fact when you have a 89 overall BAP the coach still puts you on the second line because the team is playing bad. One time my player had 80 points in 60 games and I was on the 4th line as a 91 overall playmaking center which is just dumb, fix it.

    - Also EA you should implement a way so that as you are making your BAP you can edit his overall, including their potential. Maybe somebody wants to develop into a Dustin Brown, like a grit grinder but not develop into a 99 overall, maybe just cap off 85 based on the potential. I know this takes away from the whole point of growing as player but it still would be more fun if a 18 year old kid enters the league and starts to light up the league like Crosby or McDavid. This never happens in the sim, you have to actually play all the games in order to win the Calder.

    General:

    - Bring back the legends team, but this time actually put legends on the team (ie. Doug Gilmour, Wendall Clark, Lidstrom, Orr, Mike Bossy or Paul Kariya)

    - Fix the random crashes.

I really do believe that if you implement a "Journey" kind of thing with hockey like what FIFA did with Alex Hunter, NHL can become the best sports game on the market. However, no matter how much I hate you guys I will always buy the new game every year.

You cant admit to buying it every year haha!!!

    1. NHL Live
Similar to Madden and NBA. Weekly roster and commentary updates (since every day is asking too much), display real life stats and records in-game. I don't have too much time for NHL these days, so if I could turn on the game and play an offline or online game and have all the stats, records, and rosters be up to date, with commentary about how the Flyers are doing (i.e., their current record, streak, who is hot and cold, and so forth) that would be great.

    2. Significant Gameplay Improvements
Not 100% sure what I mean by this, but I think we can all agree, the gameplay has felt fairly similar from NHL 16-NHL 18. I guess I'd like to see significant changes to how goalies play in order to open up scoring somewhat (less sliding and predictability), maybe make the puck looser, I'm not sure. I know they are trying with things like defensive skill stick and all the new dekes this year, but those things do not significantly impact the "feel" of gameplay, and NHL 19 desperately needs to "feel" different than NHL 16-18.

    3. Graphics and Animation Improvements
Game looks great in 4K on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, but I'd like to see additional graphical enhancements, specifically HDR implementation. Also higher resolution textures during gameplay, improvements to lighting and shadows, more authentic player faces, authentic coaches, etc. I think much of this could be accomplished by bringing over / implementing Frostbite in the same way Madden and FIFA have done the last year or two.

I've never been a huge fan of the generic player models and how the same ones are seemingly used for every player. I'd like to see more realistic player models and more diversity and personalization in things like skating and shooting. They did a great job personalizing goalie stances and I'd like to see that for players somewhat. I think these changes, in addition to being nice from an aesthetic perspective, will help differentiate NHL 19 from the last few games since I think many players feel the gameplay is getting stale.

    4. Continued Improvements to Online Connectivity and Reliability
    Self explanatory.

    5. GM Connected
Please bring it back, with improvements. I know it requires a ton of resources and not many people played or finished their franchises, but it was a really great online experience when you had a league with many guys who were committed. This is one of the few modes that would bring me back to playing NHL regularly

    6. Narrative Driven Offline Career Mode (aka The Journey (FIFA), whatever it's called in Madden and NBA Live)
While this is a mode I might not play myself, I think this would be a good inclusion and would be something we've never had before in the franchise.

This is asking a lot, so I'd take things like graphics, gameplay, return of GM Connected, NHL Live in NHL 19, and maybe a narrative driven offline mode like the Journey in NHL 20.

NHL 19 should have the Career Mode! Completely agree with everything!
So many people would buy just for Career and GM Connected Modes.
  • My list of improvements:

Winter Classic and All star skills competition and and 3v3 tournament

Make your own custom hockey league and put your custom teams in it and play offline or online. Customize all star games, winter classic, and the playoffs and more, also include expansion teams.

Be a pro needs to be improved you should be able to actually do the training weekly. Your pro should be nominated into the all star game if good enough. Also include Winter classic and other outdoor games and special events in gm and seasons mode.

Make your custom teams in threes mode

Does fifa use frostbite for its physics engine or does it just use it for the 3d rendering and sound?

    12 player private lobbies/drafts.

I dislike playing with/against scrubs/trolls/quitters and newbies (especially Xmas ones this time of year) in drop ins.

I'd like to say the latter, and I hated it. Sure, it made the shadowing real but with how far the camera needs to be out in FIFA it makes it annoying to sometimes see the ball and differentiate between jersey team colours during play. Frostbite isn't necessary at all when it comes to sports games. It's an amazing engine for weather and environmental stuff but I've yet to see it impact physics in a sports title yet.

I mean frostbite has its own physics engine as part of the entire engine but not all games will use it as it might not be adaptable to their needs. It's primarily used for destructible environments and not the physics of sports.

I looked into the engine itself because I was interested but found nothing regarding how exactly it's used in fifa.
  • I would like to be able to create my own goalie mask for a custom goalie. Also to be able to select which commentators we want. Also, put Pierre in the game!!!
  • Also, put in winter classic mode.
  • also, make the players circle up after every goal
  • be a mascot mode pls!!! This would be fun to make random dances and lead your favorite team to the cup.

1.) have a Be A Ref Mode. This would be fun to make random calls and lead your favorite team to the cup.

Eh. I think NHL 3's was a pretty fun, casual, sort of "gimmick" mode and instead of adding a new mode that would appeal to the same crowd, they should focus on a different segment of their audience. I'm thinking more the "hardcore" fans, so something like GM Connected.
2.) during intermission and your watching the highlights in that period. Have some hit/shots/saves in slow motion. Don’t make it look boring.

I agree, some more highlights and diversity therein would be nice.

3.) during intermission when you resume the game. Instead of looking at a black screen make it so you looking inside that locker room make it more entertaining and less boring.

Sure, some new cutscenes showcasing the locker rooms would be nice.
4.) bring back braking the glass from hitting some one to hard or shooting it to hard. That being said. Bring back where if you hit someone they go over the players bench.

Small features, but they'd be nice, provided these things do not happen too often.
5.) when you get sent to the box have “A” “B” “X” or “Y” to (argue) with the ref for a short period of time.

Would get old fast and delay getting back to the action, so don't like this one.

6.) have a going through high school career. I feel like more people would play if you start young and work your way up to the big leagues. And have like a show case of the past years and leagues.

I haven't played BAP in a long time, but don't you start in the CHL?
7.) when viewing the stats of the periods or game have more information such as.
Number of one timers. Or chances taken but missed. Number of times hit the post”

8.) when playing be a career mode. Have fake tweets of people routing for your team.

9.) this one will be hard but have first person game modes make it look like the person is really playing

10.) have a all star mode. Shootouts, fastest time skating, hardest slap shot etc

11.) when th center messes up a draw make it so the refs throw him off and throws in the winger.

These are all kinda meh's from me. First person sounds interesting but if they tried to make the entire game first person, there would pretty much be no time left to add any other new features. I have not seen "first person mode" in any other sports game, so I'd be surprised if NHL were the first to take the plunge.

    Overall, not a bad list!

  • @LuGer33x I'm not sure if you've seen it posted but I've mentioned it a few times. Hockey? (question mark) is a first person hockey game. Iirc it was developed in 7 days.
  • No offense but adding things to an already bug filled and massively AI flawed game is putting lipstick on a pig. The top 5 seemingly simple things EA needs to do and won’t to make NHL19 better.

    1) spend time watching the idiotic AI and correct it. The aimless wandering and cluelessness of AI teammates is the single most damaging thing in this series. More board play and neutral zone play. It’s to North South at the moment.

    2) add a roster vault. EAs rosters are horrific...let us do it.

    3) presentation overhaul. Make this game feel like hockey. 5 man celebration for starters. Forget the idiotic individual celebrations and make a goal scored look real. Also commentary with the presentation. A go ahead goal scored with 30 seconds left in game 7 of a playoff game should feel, look, and sound different than the 4th goal scored in game 7 of your season.

    4) Better CPU coaching AI. They never take a timeout, there is no line matching, far to often the 4th line is out in the final minute when trailing by a goal, and they wait to pull the goalie until 20 seconds left. These things are such basic but important aspects of hockey it’s hard to imagine it’s not there.

    5) customization. Look at MLB the Show. People have asked for a mask editor for years instead we got mascot creator....that nobody wanted. Creating your uniforms and gear for HUT or EASHL would be sweet. Again look at the Show.

Most of what I wrote has been asked for year in year out and ignored. Instead the core gameplay remains broken and we get mascots and 3s. The entire next gen NHL franchise has been nothing short of a disappointment making one wonder what the problem is.....incompetence or they just don’t care.....buy HUT cards. If any developer releases a game with those 5 things above it will bury EA NHL within a month of release.

  • not better.....make it good.
