And that is why Table Top Hockey,Bubble Hockey whatever is better! I do enjoy playing online NHL but holy crap..knowing how the game cheats for and against you is not that fun! In EA hockey, weather you miss the net or score and how you score and when is dictated by the programing. Gott love it when your goalie slides back into the goal line during a long distance shot dont ya? or when he spins around and knocks it in your own net!.
On table hockey,it takes real hand skill to put the puck in the net,you miss a pass or the net? it's your fault, not the programming. It's not just as easy to pass a puck and put it in..it's understanding how you made that pass and understanding how you put it in,it's all angles and trickery. I rather spend every second saturday practicing with two of Canadas best Table hockey players and going to Tournaments than playing this crap!. But I do like playing a few games of EA,it's just sad the games are riddled with Ice Tilt witch is basicly a protection bubble so you cant defend!
You should not be able to tell when the game says Na we are scoring unless u trip me.then u lose the face off after winning 10 straight and they set up and score on the PP. you know when it's happening and can't do anything about it.
I've accepted the notion that the game is broken. However, when the connection at start is 4 green bars, and the game proceeds to lag and slow me down. I have an issue. Is this an EA issue? Perhaps so, is my opponent using lag switches? Not sure, recent games of opponent does not suggest such.
absolutely crippling when you play with lag...i almost always end up turning the game off after a game or two. I'd much rather spend my video game time playing something where I'm only battling my opponent, not my opponent, and my connection.
Well, the game ”lags” offline to. Some games worse than others. Unresponsive and clunky gameplay has been a theme in EA NHL for many years now - and each time EA copy+paste the game for the newest iteration it gets a little worse.
I agree it plays better offline than online, but I’ve come to believe that online-lag are more than just connection issues. The game itself is flawed in its very foundation.

Sometimes, I can tell we're going to lose off the opening faceoff. Our inputs seem to lag despite a 9ms ping. Feels picky and choosey about when it's going to let your input matter. Odd

Yeah we notice this in the West a lot. Pretty sure it’s related to where the other teams players are located.
So for example, if we have (in 3s let’s say) a player from California, one from BC and one from AB, but the other team has all three players from California, or even BC, then we will be at a slight connection disadvantage.
It makes sense and explains why good or normal ping games often feel different from game to game.
Just played back to back games same settings. First game players were slow, back off the puck. Second game, players flying around the ice, hard on the puck, constant pressure. Oh yeah, ice tilt doesn't exist!!!

Why doesn't this game or any ea sports title afaik show you the exact server you connect to. Rocket League shows this when you pull up the in game stats menu which shows every player and their goals, assists and saves. As well as their ping and the server you are all playing on. Seems to me all of that is common sense and should be in any game.
Another 4 bar Excellent connection lag fest that caused me a title game against an inferior opponent. You guys rock, keep up the good work!
What mode are you lagging so much in?
HUT
You're not on EA's servers. HUT is peer to peer. So, either the problem is on your end or your opponent's. If they have a bad connection, you'll feel it too. If you constantly lag, that's probably on you.

Do you have any idea, why I'm getting "fat man lag" when network performance shows very low (6-10ms) and constant ping (like straight line) ? I can feel it from the first face off and it makes playing very frustrating. I always check the network performance before game starts, and started to back off when ping is 10 or below because of that...
It seems that 25-40ms ping (when it is constant) gives me the best experience, under and above that will be much worse (fat man lag, inputs are delayed).

Well, that wasn’t what I was getting at, as my example implies everyone playing on the west server...but you can see which server is your recommended one in the club search menu. You will also know once in game based off the ping meter. Either we’re all west or we all end up east the odd time (exact region matchmaking failure or perhaps an expanded search due to no west opponents available, not sure).

It is HUT I'm talking about.
That doesn't make sense to me...
I'm not a network engineer so I wouldn't know for sure. I know what I did to stop lagging. I got off wireless and got rid of the terrible modem/router combo that my ISP provided. That was replaced with a separate modem and router. I restart my network every few days and make sure my firmware is up to date. Most every game feels the same to me. If I am getting a bad connection several games in a row, I restart everything and it goes back to normal. So far all my network issues have been resolved by taking matters in to my own hands.
Then again, maybe I just don't notice fat man lag. Who knows? The game pretty much always feels the same to me. My losses are my fault. I don't blame lag for them.

OK, thanks for response. I have done those things too. I've tested different hw setups, but there hasn't been any (significant) difference. Some games are perfect, but majority is not. It is like night and day and like I said it is there from the first face off.
But it's those low ping games that confuses me most.
When you say "maybe I just don't notice FML" is there any difference between online and offline for you? That is the easiest way to see or notice the FML. With FML you feel like you are fighting against your opponent and the game (or controller).
That is the main reason I liked more the old system when there was one minute time to back off, now if there's FML you just have to suffer or quit.
