Help to quadriplegic player

Hello!

My name is Andreas and I love to play NHL!

When I was 16 years old I got a hit from behind and went head first in the border in a hockeygame, I broke my neck which made me a quadraplegic. So I have no motorskills at all in my finger. It was ofc a hell at first but im 32 now and have learn to live with my injury. I thought playing NHL was inpossible but after a lot of training and swiching bottoms I actually can play without sucking to much :)

But ofc its very hard for me to compete agains players who does not have any disability. For that reason I ask if its possible for me to get my player to do some things automatically?

This is what I have in mind:

1. Automatic sticklift when im nearby an opponent.
2. Protect puck when an opponent is nearby when I have the puck.
3. Autoaim on pokecheck, I can poke but can´t aim at the same time.
4. Vision control always when I am in offensive zone and don´t have the puck.

The bots can do everything above so it should be able to get those thing in a human player? It would help me so much! I know I never can be a star in the game due to my disability
but this would help me a lot to suck less! :)

Thank you for this suggestions. If possible, can you also post them here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Accessibility/ct-p/accessibility-en ? This is the main place to gather this type of feedback. I will pass this forward however!
  • Hey Andreas, I wanted to express my thoughts and prayers to you and it was unfortunate for what happened at 16! Your positive spirit and love for hockey is very inspiring and I wish you all the best! I'm pretty sure your request towards EA should not be an issue. Though we see some disgruntled posts on this forum, you seem to have a positive outlook and are enjoying things in life we take for granted! If there is anything I can do to help along your request please keep me informed! As for now keep writing your posts and hound EA constantly for your request! These guys are very high tech in game making so I don't think this would be an impossible task! Good luck Andreas and enjoy all of life's pleasures!
  • Thanks for the comments and thanks for the tips where I could post in more places! :)

Because there is auto backskate opportunity, I think there should be more things you can put on auto, at least for players with disabilities. I can send some kind of proof of my disability to ea and they give me the opportunity to choose which things I want on auto.

    Hey @Antz_85,

Accessibility is something EA has been focusing on more than ever, we don't need proof we just need any input you can give us

I also encourage you to consider reaching out to organizations that could help improve your gaming experience as a whole and on the long term. We've worked closely with a one in particular Special Effect and some of the things they can achieve with players is nothing short of amazing.

Here are a couple of examples of how they helped players play some of our games:
Good luck to you and please let us know if you need anything else on this!

Thank u Roger for the answer. Special Effect is Amazing! But I am from Sweden so it would be hard for me to get help from them. And, as I can move my arms I dont Think I need some special controller as long my player can do some stuff automatically as I wrote above. Is that not Possible?

    Hey @Antz_85 ,

I'm not entirely sure if they help players in Europe or if they only stay in U.K. If you don't have a particular need to get in touch with them that's fine

I saw you posted over on the Accessibility forums, thanks for that. Knowing Karren she is digging through this to see there is something she can see get back to you on. She has made strides and is on a mission to help as many players possible in similar situations to the one you are in. I will say that it's difficult to give details or make promises on a new feature or to change features for upcoming title so this will be a difficult question to answer however I'm sure she'll try to get as much information on this as possible.

    Thanks,

    Roger.

How do you inforce it so those who only need it use it?.Now if this happens..so called scrub players will use these features as a way to cheat to win kind of thing.

We wouldn't implement it in a way that it can be abused @kitchener_boy.

  • Oh good...thanks for your reply Roger.
  • A huge shout out to ea and roger for acting swiftly on this. You know when you read posts like this look in the mirror. Be happy for what you have and cherish it to the fullest as life can change in an instant. Andreas your story is amazing. I wish for you a great life with many fun filled days of ea sports nhl.
  • The fact that moderators and EA members were quick to respond to this is really impressive and I applaud how swiftly you've provided feedback and are making efforts to accomodate his needs.
Antz you're a true hockey fan and your outlook on life is unbelievable. People who maintain that kind of positive outlook on life despite the adversity they've faced is what still gives me faith in humanity. Best of luck to you.
  • What system do you play on? Their are a few people who make custom controller setups for disabilities. There are options out there to make gaming easier for you.

Thank u guys so much for all the nice comments!

name23424, its very hard to find custom controllers and if I do would find it, it would be very expensive. And as I said Before I dont Think I need it as long as I can get more opptions to put on auto. Because there is auto backskate opportunity, I think there should be more things you can put on auto, at least for players with disabilities. I am not after that the computer should do Everything for me, just a few things. Even if ea help me with this four things it will still be a lot of things i simply can´t do but it would help me a lot to play quite okey hockey with my friends.

It's so often I lose battles because I can not lift the stick and many times I'm in the right spot for onetimer but im not facing the puck, so to have the vision Control on auto in offensive zone when im not having the puck would help me a lot. I can poke but can´t aim at the same time and its hard for me to protect the puck at the same time im skating.
  • Haven´t heard from anyone in a long time and no answer from the report forums. Please EA, give me a Contact person that help me with this, make my Dream come true! As i said a lot of times above, I only wants a few things set on auto to help me get at least a Little closer to being an okey player.

@Antz_85 Just want to let you know I have been following this topic from the start. It is just tough for me to guarantee anything but wanted to let you know that this topic is definitely in front of the right eyes.

I have also been in meetings with Karen, that EA_Roger mentioned, and know there is a lot of effort into what improvements can be made across our entire portfolio in that regard.

Thanks for taking the time to post and for giving specific examples of what could benefit your play specifically as it helps guide some of the conversations.
