I merged your two threads about this gameplay request into one.

  • I have a feeling this wouldn't work considering the face damage/cuts arent linked to specific strikes. If this was implemented fights could be lost due to a random mechanic. Id see it working if EA completely overhauled the link between strikes and facial damage but with how much that needs fixing its not likely.

It may be hard to make the change. But they need to section the head into regions (temple, front chin, side chin, nose, eye, etc), and then tie those regions into certain reaction animations and damage. That wouldn't be enough though. The accuracy of strikes is too high. The way it is now every fighter looks like JDS after five rounds with Cain 60 seconds into the fight.

I'll add a couple gifs to demonstrate what I'm talking about. But one of the biggest fundamental gameplay flaws is accuracy. MOST shots don't land flush. And later strikes thrown in long combinations lose accuracy. In this game they have to artificially cap combos to four strikes and do so many other unrealistic things to compensate for this.

The biggest thing separating elite strikers like McGregor and Silva from lesser strikers is timing (user-input) and accuracy (ratings). Ortiz turtles and his arms never go dead, that is silly. What does happen is strikes eventually slip the guard. In the other example Brian Stann and Wandy are both throwing multiple hooks. Look at how most aren't connecting flush, but the ones that do actually damage the fighter. Things like health, stamina, being on the move, etc should also lower strike accuracy.
