NHL 19 music

Prev13
Rammer has confirmed that generic music is out and songs are back for NHL 19. Any chance we can get some info on the song selection?

Should be later next week from what I saw on Twitter.
  • Never liked the orchestra music but I liked that there was an option to choose between licensed or orchestra.
  • Hmmm... I am definitely curious to see the music this year. Usually does not jive at all with what I like to hear, so here's to hoping I will pleasantly surprised this year. Music was so bad in 18 that I actually prefer the insanely repetitive generic orchestral music.
  • I was better with the music last year than the couple years past. Usually there's around 3 songs I absolutely can't stand. Last year, there weren't any songs I enjoyed and would download, but they didn't annoy me at least.

Hummingbird..... Do you feel anything, hummingbird?

Definition of annoying right there if you ask me lol. Song makes me want to get up and run to hit someone in the face LOL.

For me, songs were very much less annoying in 18 than the year before it, has to be said. But I guess there's always bound to be someone who hates/loves certain type of music or particular songs?

Custom user-loaded songs would be great, but maybe it's just too much of a hassle for EA, what if someone streams a game with custom music, isn't that copyright violation?

But EA could do so much more with music, how about DLC type packs so you could buy certain collections and so on? Or song collection which changes every month or so? Or even embed some type of music streaming service in the game?

Most people are against monetising of all types, but I would consider purchasing a collection of 'classic' hockey songs either for the arena and/or menus. Again, might be too much of a hassle for EA contractually, but if it was profitable I am sure they could come to an arrangement with music publishers?

whenever im playing sports games, whether its nhl, mlb, madden, i rarely if ever listen to the game... its become a habit where i either A) play my own music B am talking to friends im playing with or C) have my laptop infront of me with a video on I watch as I play

Nothing's more annoying that playing with a party chat on, and someone is blasting their stereo at the background (with crap music of course). :|
  • My solution was getting a nice headset, muting all music and commentary, and downloading Spotify on PS4. I was able to link my phone app to the PS4 and I can control everything from my phone. I don't know if Xbox has an equivalent method, but no one else can hear my music. And my headset provides a better overall playing experience.

But the simple solution is to put custom music back in the game. Let us choose goal songs, PK music, PP music, etc. Did we ever get a legitimate reason to why it was taken out?

If you remember not so long ago the PS4 didn't support this, so it wasn't EA's fault. Not sure about the Xbox, but I think the Xbox did have support for custom music.

On another not though, far as I can remember EA always uses junk music that you would never hear at a hockey game. Can anyone confirm going to a game, or watching a live game, and hearing songs about hummingbirds, or taking honey from a hornet's nest (which is stupid as hornets don't make honey...)...

Anyways, this is why I am skeptical about the song list this year.

But PS4 does support this now. You can do it in MLB the Show

Yea I know that it now does, hence why I said not so long ago. Back in 15 and 16, maybe 17, not sure, custom music wasn't possible on the PS4 and EA just hasn't gone back to the old formula from old gen. In all honesty, I don't think they will.

But whether it is possible or not does not change the fact they have always had very poor song selections for a greater part of this franchise. I think the soundtracks as of late would better suit a tennis or golf game more than hockey lol.

Ah I gotcha. Yeah it has been awful. I haven't really liked the sound tracks since the early 2000s.
  • Custom music needs to come back. I honestly can't see any excuse now to not have that option!

Fun Fact. Vegas lost all three home games in the SCF after Imagine Dragons performed pre-game 2. They were 7-0-1 at home in the playoffs prior to the performance.

If I had to see Imagine Dragons live, it would be one of the worst nights of my life.

  • I recognize Greta Van Fleet, Imagine Dragons, Tom Morello, The Struts and Twenty One Pilots. I wouldn't call myself a fan of any of them, but it's cool to see Greta Van Fleet get on another game. They were on MLB The Show. They're pretty good. It's just background music anyway, so not going to lose my mind over it.
