As far as some games having lag and some games not. I think noone should be allowed to play this game on Wi-Fi. I would bet that slows the game down for everyone especially when someone on Wi-Fi is host.
  • I like it the way it is. I don't was some super fast arcade unrealistic hockey game. The slower it is the better players can be more creative with the puck.

It's stupid slow for eashl 3v3. I think me and my buddy are running into connection issues. I'm not even exaggerating when I say our opponents are light fast and agile and csnt keep up. Snipers are eat overpowered in terms of speed and agility. And because poke checking penalties are awful its so difficult to play defense as a forward.

Everyone is just running round as snipers because they have major ability to get back on D to break up break aways.

We can always tell ea is screwing us connection wise because our cpu player will do the dumbest things imaginable while our opponents cpu player is running round on steroids throwing massive hits and impossible puck control.

    Another year of that. Sigh.

  • The skating is moderately slower after the Beta especially in cuts. I've been watching Beta footage vs the turns people make in the full release and it definitely looks slower. I think that's a bad move EA.

I did not find any difference in the speed of the game from BETA to current release. There have been some minor tweaks to how the skating handles, less instances where your player will spin around for no reason than in the BETA, but that's all I've noticed so far.

Controls in ONES felt very responsive, but that's what I'd expect of an Arcade mode. I only played goalie in Drop-in 6s and it was smooth as well. The only issue I had there were the fushluggenah auto-animations and still present issues we've had for the past... what now, 11 years?

Puck covering is god awful. Hugging the post is sluggish, clunky and ineffective. Still can't cover the post in time if there's a sharp angle shot (why is that STILL a problem? I thought that was supposed to be fixed this year???). Goalie still hits a patch of chocolate sauce/peanut butter while sliding across the goal mouth. Goalies STILL do whatever save animations the game decides to give us, regardless of user input (why can't we cancel out of auto-saves??).

Oh, fun little anecdote: there seems to be a bug with goalie passing. No matter what direction you hold to pass into, if you play the puck with the goalie it will always pass to an opponent. I've had it happen to me three times now, all of them on stream. First time it occured I thought maybe I tried to pass it out too fast and didn't turn into the direction I wanted to pass. 2nd and 3rd time you CLEARLY see my goalie turned to the right. But when I hit PASS the puck goes directly to an opponent's stick...

As if we already didn't have to contend with enough nonesense in nets... Now this? Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh!!!

EDIT: failed to mentioned that when I passed the puck, I was facing towards the right holding RIGHT on the left stick, but the puck went LEFT. I have my puck aim assist at 25 which should allow me to manually direct my passes.

So are goalies worse than beta now or the same?

Pretty much the same except for that issue with the passing. I'm usually very active around my net and I'll play the puck if I can, but this has me a little wary... I've tried two gamepads so far and the same thing happened so it's not the controls.

As long as they stick to the same goalie formula that they have since its inception, none of this will ever change. Sure some things are faster or transition a bit more fluidly, but everything is still clunky and always will be. Post hugging should not require button pressing and animations. You should just be able to slide to a post just like any real life goalie does with ease. Coming off a post is still sticky and clunky.

Basically everything is robotic and they are trying to smooth it out. Not gonna work. Still too much old-gen recycled into it. The most massive overhaul is required, but they are trying to take the shortest route to save time, money and resources. We could have this same discussion in 5 years, if not 8....
  • It's interesting, but not surprising, because that's how people feel every year, since I remember.

EA probably did nothing in this regards, yet they somehow managed to make the game feel slower for guys here, that wanna have it faster and at the same faster-more arcade for guys on OS, that want slower and sim Lol

Both these groups are absolutely convinced that the game felt almost perfect on Beta and now its "almost as bad" as NHL 18 :)

Keep in mind certain camera angles make the game feel slower, just like it would do in any racing game. The closer to the play the camera is, the faster the game will appear. When the camera follows the skaters it kind of kills the speed effect.

IMO, the game is fast enough, or at least, very close to it. Not looking for Mario Kart Hockey.

I would bet that absolutely nothing changed.

The beta was absolutely refreshing because the skating was completely new. It absolutely shot our expectations sky high but since we haven't played it in the longest time we remember it being so refreshing but it's no longer new to us so it isnt AS refreshing as the first time we tried it

Unless you're having bad connection of course then I can see why you're peed off but from my experience of 10ish 6s games, it plays just as well as the beta
  • Ya, I would bet too :)

Yeah, nothing's changed. If anything, maybe for HUT players now that player attributes and overalls in general were lowered. But HUT wasn't available during the BETA, only 6s and VS and that's still the same.
  • I disagree. Though I'll have to touch it. If you watch ones beta gameplay vs the full release there is a difference. Like I said it's not a lot it's moderate but it's more labored.
  • I don't notice a difference.
  • Feels the same to me too.
  • They 100% ruined it. The skating is so tuned back from the demo that it almost feels exactly like garbage NHL 18 all over again. It's disappointing because I was actually so ridiculously pumped for this game since the demo, it finally felt so fresh and fun. It's not.
  • Skating feels exactly the same.

Boy are they ever....those EASHL snipers can just spin spin spin have insane agility, never lose balance or lose puck. It's a joke.

The offense has better agility but so does the defense. Hitting is more responsive. It's honestly never been better to be a Dman.
