Hurry up and get your silver player for old Evo collectibles. Yup, I have 4 that cost me 26000 coins each. Finally get to cash them in! Thanks EA
I'm responding to this post, purely on my assumption that your thanks were sarcastic and you are, in fact, upset that your investment on the older Evo collectibles has only now borne the fruit of some silver player cards. If that assumption is incorrect, then please do reply to this post and I would ask the moderators to remove it for being incorrect.
Having said that, here is my response if my assumption was correct....
Why did you buy the Evo collectibles in the first place? I assume to trade in for the sets that were available at the time; and I also assume that nobody forced you into that purchase. If so, why are you complaining (again assuming sarcasm of the post above, if not sorry and please delete this response) to EA for your own actions?
An insult to offer you something you can use, or upgrade again - possibly even sell, but I don't know if the silver cards are eligible to trade so maybe that one is wrong?
Much better to turn them into something of - admittedly - little value, than to quick sell for nothing or just clog up the drive on your Xbox or PS4 doing nothing in your collection surely?
I honestly assumed that the Evo set would be an option again or else I would have cashed them in. And frankly every year EA does a re-release during the year. So I confidently assumed I woukd get use from them. And at worse, I just figured they would have a half decent Sun set. Perhaps 2 Evos for a gol pack or something. Again, in line with what has been done un the past. This, this is just a sad pathetic joke. Whi wants a silver player? I'll pass.

Okay so let me get this straight buddy... you're saying that investing your coins/money for some cases into evo1 collectibles and then getting silver players for them is okay....? Please explain and make me believe that it's okay for EA to do this, i'll gladly wait for your answer.
In no way is this even acceptable. As players we buy collectibles to then turn them into players right? EA never announced that these sets were going to expire also. That being said why would we stop buying collectibles? And then all of a sudden all that money we spent on collectibles is just worth a silver player.
FYI I had bought 300k worth of collectibles because EA NEVER mentionned anything about these sets going away. I'm still holding on to them lol This is a pure scam by EA. I hope these sets can change cause it's just sad. And because of this I will still play the game but I WILL NEVER BUY IN GAME STUFF AGAIN, I AM OVER EA AND THIS GAMBLING SCAMS.

The sets had timers that counted down to when they would expire, There's no scam,.

When evo sets were introduced in the first place it said "EVOs will be released every first monday of the month" or something along those lines.... And what happened? They stopped making them without saying anything.

As @monz has already said in this post, event collectibles like Evo's, like Thanksgiving, like Christmas, all have a timer on that that is shown in game - on the screen, on the packs, on the sets. I'm sorry if you didn't notice this but that is not EA's fault.
The only collectibles that I'm aware that didn't have a time limit on them was the bronze, silver, gold and carbons you use to upgrade Alumni to legends. Also sets in the past have allowed you to use gold collectibles if you had them in your collection and didn't want to sell them.

I agree that the Sunsets are not a scam but I also agree that they are a big slap in the face. This is not how things worked last year so it was a reasonable assumption that the Evo collectibles could be used again in a future set. They didn't say "Evo November". They didn't say "Evo 1". And everybody knew that more evolution cards were coming since so few players had evolution cards at that point. The whole Evo 2 concept is just a cheap play by EA to make people buy more packs. There is 0 difference in concept between the Evo 1 release and the Evo 2 release since Evo 1 cards get 2 synergies as well. The only difference is they made the Evo 1 collectibles worthless and released shiny new ones with the number 2 on them. At the very least, a little bit of communication would have helped. Yes, the sets had timers but the collectibles did not! I actually believe that this communication did exist on Reddit. Why there and nowhere else? It should have been in the description of the program.
As for the sunsets, they could have at least offered those 1 gold with a chance of rare packs for them... I'm sure none would actually be rare. But at least there would have been a chance of getting something reasonable.
That being said, there's no good reason to expire sets.
There are very good, economic reasons for not keeping all the special, and event sets running infinitely until the end of NHL19. I'm new to HUT this year so can't speak from personal experience, but many more experienced players than me have stated that this years HUT Auction House is the first year where the prices of cards respond to proper economic principles.
Keeping the number of highly rated cards low means that lower rated cards are still valuable, and everyone does not have a 99 rated team with twelve 99 rated forwards and six 99 rated defenders. If the Evo sets continued, and the Thanksgiving and Xmas Master sets could still be completed there would be so many highly rated cards on the market the auction house would not function properly.
Yeah yeah, collectibles have expired. Now we can at least trade for something, better than nothing.
But still, just giving back a silver player is really cheap. Collectible are rare, silver player are not. This sun sets is making EA looks like a cheapskate.

That must be it. It says any collectable though, and the Sun Set art is black.
