Something must be done about the ballerina spins, now or in the future

I hate, my teammates hate it and you probably do too. I don’t why I’ve been encountering this so much lately in EASHL 3s. Every so often we run into teams that just spin and spin and spin.

I played my short HUT career I ran into this guys on this mode too. They skate backwards into the zone hoping for a trip then spin into the corner and rag and rag until you chase them for a one timer or short side attempt.

Here’s a team I played against in EASHL

https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/epicxowned/video/68473802

All game they did that. What’s funny in the clip is how he picks up speed and never blows a tire. You never see that in the real world. They would circle in the corners all game and only go for back spot or short side. We were playing good defense, but good defense has trouble people who abuse game mechanics which unfortunately there are no consequences for raging, spins around and around for clowns that skate or play like this.

This a big nuisance I keep running into. There definitely has to be a way they lose the puck or blow an edge. Remember NHL 12, the game before TPS when you kept doing circles after circle especially when dealing with great pressure for a dman? You blow a tire and lost the puck. Sure some may say this is “unrealistic” as were supposed to be playing as NHL players, but it balanced. Didn’t want to blow an edge, pass. Now, you can do this all game long without consequences.

I hope combating this a huge priority, it just isn’t fun when you play teams like this in any mode.

  • It's the biggest cancer that has plagued this franchise for far too long. Simple solution in 3s - one D man on/near one post and forward or center on the other with your 3rd man high at top of circles. Literally stand there, moving occasionally left to right and watch them spazz in the corner. Eventually they will get bored and try to make a dumb pass out of frustration or turn the puck over.
  • It's also a cancer in HUT and in VS also
  • Agreed. A complete cancer and extremely illogical from what a skater can normally do.

Quick fix would be that a tap or full press results in a complete 180.

We do a mix of man to man/zone. It’s a lot more difficult when your tied or trailing in a game and they have no intention of moving the puck.

Stumble, fall or the lose puck. Somethings gotta happen. I believe it was you who said “there wouldn’t be enough ambulances available for a one game”. There’s a reason we don’t see that in the real NHL.

Lol, yea that was me with the ambulance comment.

It’s terrible in any mode. Absolutely kills the fun factor.
  • I play as a dangler and use spins a lot. So, I don't want them to ruin my Savardian Spin-o-ramas. However, I don't skate backwards much like in the video. I think when someone is skating backwards towards you, you should be able to hit them off the puck easier and make them stumble. There is too much bubble action that interferes with the hits.

I don’t the mind the typical Spin o Rama you see. That’s fine. But continuously skating backwards and half spins again and again without any sort consequence makes my blood boil when I play people like this. What doesn’t make sense is in the video he appears to keep his speed and even get faster. That should not be the case.

I should have recorded more of them doing exactly what I said. Next time I play a team like this I will.

In your video, the centre pivots too aggressively to the outside instead of holding the middle of the ice. That is why he got burned and it makes it look like the puck carrier gained speed.

It’s easy to dissect videos like but when your in a game and this guy is doing this all game you have no idea where he is gonna go. You kind of gotta hope he messes up because one poke it’s a penalty and as you said, there is too much bubble around them when do this that makes hitting them off the puck hard. So you just gotta hope he messes up.

Mitch Marner skates backwards into the zone when he has the puck?

This video may have been posted, but this video has a lot of the backwards skating and spins. Look at the 5:00 mark. Prime example of this.

I’ve watched this before so I’m not going to watch it again, I almost puked last time I watched it. These are the supposedly elite players.
  • It's been worse since last tuner. Hitting at slower speeds seem to just rub against players, rather than result in any collision. Players also seems to folllow the puck, rather than the body you aim for when players are skating backwards or loose puck deking. Maybe thats a "hitting assistance slider" on EA's end? Add that with more puck control through sticks an legs (with the new tuner) and it makes it even harder to defend the ballerina spins. I was against a player on 6v6 club today that was skating backwards (through sticks an legs) over n over from his own blueline to ours and then try for the high blocker wrister that goes in 75% of the time.
  • This game should have separate tuners , let the Chel LT Bruh Streamers and their disciples play on one and the rest of us who like a little more realism play on another
  • I posted this in the tuner thread. Hitting, incidental contact, and shoves (in my honest opinion), have changed. Not sure when you took your video, but I just took this a few minutes ago. The mechanics of the game allow for raggers and dancers to happen because there are no negative effects to it. In the beta tuner, the counter was that there was much, much, much more lose puck battles and loss of pucks due to hit and incidental contact, now it seems we're back to where we were.

Players keeping the puck with NO counter to is is unrealistic!

I noticed a lot of far side garbage going in. But I know what you mean about the blocker side. Seems like the goalie gives way too much blocker side now.

That was from today. No screen in front. Complete miss.
