Put attributes back!

All I'm saying is if everyone has the attributes from day one how is anyone at a disadvantage? Unless you put yourself at a disadvantage... Lets say you and I play this game the way it is now full ice 1 v 1 and i choose to use the enforcer build 6'9 270 pounds i'm a pillion and you choose the sniper 5'9 180 lets say youre just buzzing i cant hit you or catch you cause your too fast My guy is useless and im at a disadvantage because i chose the worst possible build to compete. should i go out and say this game is terrible because my guy isn't like you or should i maybe look in to making a guy that can compete?
Attributes make the game no different other than you're able to compete with the guy you want not what ea wants! Like i said before it wasnt the attributes that was problem it was the card system. you should have never needed to rank for the attributes and they should have never sold boost packs . Attributes Day 1 boost packs unlock via hockey bags within the first 30 ranks !!!

The reason they say no to custom attributes is because you can put points into areas that make characters not really fit their roles. Like who ever really pumped points into discipline and other worthless stats?

The new way shoehorns you into having to play certain ways which more than half of the community don't like. And yes there are more people who want the old method back over the new method.

Old attribute system = Be the superstar player the game said you could be in EASHL
New attribute system= Be a cog in the wheel of play your role

I agree somewhat with your opinion but I also feel there needs to be some freedom. Hockey players are not all the same. Ovi is a hitting sniper Datsyuk was a dangling playmaking sniper 2 way forward lol . We as the players should have the freedom to create a build that suits us and how we want to play. Not how Ea thinks we should play. Like i said before only 3 of the 7 offensive player builds are useful. Sniper,Dangler and Playmaker all the others suck. They're way to slow. The game is changing in a big way and its almost like EA is way behind!

If people dont like my idea then Ea can make the build for them using the attributes everyone else gets for them. Basically what you have now just with the added attributes and boost. If Ea is so concerned about player types being realistic then they should take a look at how bad the game play is and fix that as well.

All im saying is 09-15 were the best years of this game. the only crap part was the amount of games you needed to play to get the attributes . take that away and its fixed.
  • You see they wouldn't give both options because they know allowing us to distribute attributes would trump their pre-set builds. We all know athleticism is where majority of the points would go. It also exposed their useless attributes. Trust me I wish they did the pre-build better but they just didn't get it. Like what if I want to be a sniper who specializes in just accuracy over power.

If they ever did bring back custom attributes though it shouldn't be a lump sum of points to work with. Certain builds should have certain amount of points to use in each category. Also they could do something like hybrid builds of a Sniper/Two-Way combo, Sniper/Power Forward ala Ovechkin build.

Trust me what we have right now is average setup at best. What we had in the 360 days was a bit OP. We just need more and more options with pre-built characters and I feel a hybrid system of combining 2 would come closer to satisfying more people.

But overall they don't want us to be McDavid or Crosby. They want us to be that 2nd line guy that isn't awful, but isn't a superstar either. You're just a role player.

  • I like my idea better. if everyone has them from day 1 then there is no issue . if your guy sucks that's on you. i don't care if people build high speed players. all you do to counter is either build high speed player or build a guy to manage the speed game ... I use to love this game back in the day. Eashl use to be fun. Now the AI is overpowered for one team and not the other. I can customize basically everything but my guy. which is dumb. the game is basically trash lol
  • Basically Ea made a game that almost takes as much luck to win as it does skill. Theyve made it to where trash players still have a shot to compete . With the ice tilt its awful. If you suck you suck . Only way to get better is to practice. Instead EA makes it where almost all teams are in the game.
  • They cant bring attributes back, because there would be exactly ZERO updates during the year to fix overpowered/used builds.

Look at this year, class system with some obvious flaws, and there's been exactly ZERO updates to it.

First accept that whatever system we have will get no updates during the release year, and then ask yourself if a poorly implemented version of that new system is better than what we have now.

If everyone has the same Attributes at the same time. Why should you care what type of game it is. The game with attributes was faster and way more fun to play than the flawed system they have now.
All-star hockey is still NHL Hockey. More talent equals more entertainment. EA should not be judging how our players are built. Like I said before and I'll say it again 4 of the 7 offensive player builds are useless.

There wouldn't be any such thing as over powered builds if everyone had the Attributes from day one. Everyone would have the same opportunity to make the builds they want. If you think a guy had an OP build on the old games it was because he had played a ton of games in a short time and possibly bought boost packs .

If they brought Attributes you'd be able to do so much more than what EA allows.

I think people only want attributes because they think they'll be able to max out certain stats. I would be fine with an attribute system that had hard caps based on the class just like we have now, and there weren't very many attribute points to distribute. Or after hitting 75 it requires 2 points for a 1 point increase, and 3 points after 80 to increase by one point, and so on. The old builds got quite ridiculous with how maxed out people got.

I would be fine with having an attribute system that capped a grinder shot at, say, 82 and a sniper shot at 90. And a cap on the grinder speed at, say 83, and a dangler speed at, 87, or something like that. It would require a mix of hard caps and very few attribute points to avoid breaking it like the old game was broken.

If that's what people want with attribute points, I would be fine with that, but I think those people really just want to find a way to make super-star builds again where you can do everything. That desire shouldn't be catered to because it breaks the balance of the game.

I agree, but I for one want as many config options on builds and I don't mind not being an all-around superstar. Points and even stick curves etc why not. But they can cap some things I don't mind. The point is having options and having fun customizing.

The cost of attribute points always increased the higher you went - You could have 99 shot power but you'd have to allocate every single point you had in order to make it happen. Pre-set builds are awful for 2 and 3 man teams and offer absolutely nothing for players who are skilled in multiple areas.

I don't need nor want 99 everything, I just want to be able to play my own game

I'd take attributes all day over presets. People complaining of op this and that, if EA puts in some effort they can "balance" it. They already had hard caps in 13 and 14. For example,You could only go up to 88 Wrist Shot Accuracy and Power with a TWF.
  • I used to love getting legend 3 and constantly tweeking my guy every 10-15 games. I think it would be great to just give everyone X amount of points and a basic build to start with.

    Amen.

    Awesome. Thanks for supporting this.
  • thanks boys hopefully we can get our attributes back!!! bring back the 09-15 days with a mix of 16-19 . Just no card system please . ATTRIBUTES FROM DAY 1 . All boost packs acquired through the first 30 ranks .

Heres a question for you guys? Would you rather have the Boost packs of old or the new traits they have now? Thanks
  • I don't think the people arguing against the old system are understanding the topic here. We dont want the old system back, we want a NEW system that is a hybrid.

Put in hard caps on the attributes to keep balancing easy, even give us the same amount of points to play with and give them to everybody right away. Just give me a way to tailor the classes a little more to my play style. It doesn't hurt anyone if I want a bigger slower playmaker or a pwf who sacrifices checking for more def awareness etc.

If you get everything you want from the current class system then isn't it great to be you, we can leave the default classes in too but, I see some gaps in the system that I would like to fill.

Even if they didn’t go forth with a hybrid ...things like being able to choose stick curve, rigidity would be nice incremental gain.

I’d kinda want to be able to practice with my eashl toon though. Part of tinkering is testing

Right now, the class balance is terrible. The most skilled classes are also the best skaters. No defensive class can skate as well. Its obvious who this system was created for. It's hilarious that they've made tiny people the fastest players on the ice, when the NHL's fastest player is over 6 feet tall.

A GOOD implementation of open attributes would be better. I just cant see them balancing it out, cant see them ever updating/patching it, and expect we'd have a static meta for 12 months. Skating attributes are worth so much more than everything else.

For EASHL to be a team game, I really think max speed of all players should be the same. Some can have a quicker first step, others better turn radius, others better balance, or longer reach, but the starting point should be equal speed.
