I know I've posted video of a perfect defensive stick lift I made, but I didn't it went right through his virtual stick.
Today I made a perfect hip check in front of the puck carrier my DSS stick took his stick out and my body took his...l but he skates through it with the puck intact.
It's a game, it's frustrating sure but not as much as the people who rag the puck or put their controller down and you can't do anything about it IMO.
The stick on stick contact is ruining the gameplay...if thats what's causing the auto stick lift function. Seems like all that happens now in Eashl is a glorified jousting match. Tired of playing good position to line up a body check, and because the stick on stick collision was triggered, instead of laying the hit, with the hit stick held, the game itself takes over, makes my player try to perform a stick lift, and the offensive player skates by scott free with the puck. Just one of the many problems with NHL 19...

Stick on stick contact will make them lose the puck but it won't negate a hit. If you are missing a hit, you are missing a hit.
Stick on stick isn't an auto stick lift, it is just incidental stick on stick collisions. It has confused some people due to the same stick on stick sound being used -- we are looking at changing that in the future. For a stick lift, it has to be triggered manually but you will actually lift their stick and they have a longer delay relative to how good the stick lift was (angle of the lift and attributes of the two players). With stick on stick contact, their ability to pick up the puck is quicker (but still based on reaction time from ratings) but it is just to mimic needing to move your stick to avoid the other stick or a body and not have the ability to just carry it through as if that stick or body didn't exist. This also helps other pieces of balance due to how having control of the puck leads to better passes, shots, dekes, etc. so if they lose the puck in those incidental stick collisions, even if they regain control and lead into a shot right away, their resulting action won't be as effective compared to if they had been able to be in control or settled that whole time.

Stick on stick contact, slow speed incidental contact - if all this was realistic (coming from the Xbox overpowered perspective here so if you play on PS4 please forgive me) then every NHL game would be an OT shootout. I'm putting together a montage of bumps, pushes, brushes, huffs and puffs that don't make any sense in a simulation of physics based sport.
I've seen video of PS4 games where people can literally skate through a tunnel created by all five skaters without any effect on their stick, the puck, their skates or their body - and certainly not their progress. But on Xbox the slightest touch of a stick on stick is enough to release the puck; the slightest caress of hip or shoulder is enough to knock your player off the puck; and best of all - a push in the back as your skating forwards in a straight line causes your player to stumble and slow down, but the person doing the pushing (and receiving the equal and opposite force to push) goes faster and picks the puck up.

I play on the PS4 and have yet to see this. EASHL only. Don't know if you are talking about other game modes.

I play both HUT and EASHL equally. HUT seems to give puck carriers a halo through a wall of defenders. Frustrating when you try to wall off a player without poking and they survive the gauntlet. Ironic that if it was a pass, the cpu would snatch the puck up with sorcery if need be, but man on man, they are indifferent to dislodge the biscuit.

Uhhh, really? I have yet to see someone skate thru 5 defenders with this tuner. You sure you arnt exaggerating?
This happens all the time.. I position in front of opponent, try to hit him. Nothing. On top of that he goes right through my skater with puck in perfect possession.

I see absolutely no hitting animation from the player you are controlling.
Are you saying you want to hit, but the animation doesn't trigger, or are you saying your hit didn't work? Because as I have said, there is no hitting animation here at all.
However, I agree that he should have lost possession of the puck as you clearly skated right through his stick.

the skaters stick and portion of his body went thru him....
is what I think he is getting at.
edit: just looked at it again and it did look like his arm went up.... like he tried to hit the puck carrier.

So what about the Issue with the bumps from behind where your body goes forward yet the puck just magically stops? Momentum is a thing you know . So much to fix hopefully you guys can get it right for once!

Yea I now see what you mean. His elbow jabs upwards, so I guess it is a hitting animation. However, at that point his positioning is very far from ideal to trigger a hit, so i assume this is why no hitting animation gets rewarded.
Is this normal? BTW this is the AI reaching through my body and taking the puck off me. This play resulted in a goal. Ai takes the puck from me magically through my body a player from the other team calls for it at our blue line and scores. Game is so sick good job EA

I try to hit almost immediately after I take control of that skater, in front of opponent. Somehow the animation registers only after his skated past me.

Hard to tell what is going on from a screenshot. We don't have physics on the stick so it can clip through geo but contact through geo, even if it doesn't trigger a trip, should negate stick on stick and stick on puck contact. It should also negate successful pickups, shots, etc. as well.
When the player is behind you, it is possible their limbs are making contact with your players limbs and the physics reaction is moving your limb enough that your stick moves beyond the tolerance for incidental puck loss if your stick moves away from the puck but again, with a single shot, it is impossible to tell the full story.
And beyond those things that are meant to happen, it is possible there is something that isn't working as intended but we would need to see the full play and more detail to be able to tell what is actually going on.

Your player looks to go into defensive skill stick in this clip during that moment. The elbow going up on the loose arm is just from incidental limb contact and the loose arm just gets moved briefly by his player I would think.
What control scheme are you using? Do you rest finger on R1/RB when you are playing defense?
His player loses the puck to stick on leg contact (you can see his indicator change when this occurs) and he has to pick the puck back up on the other side. The stick isn't in physics so you don't see it move due to the body contact/needing to avoid but the puck loss simulates the player having to let go of the puck, pull their stick around and regain possession.

I use normal control scheme and I didn’t touch R1, just puched R stick towards opponent.

If that is the case, I would consider if it could be accidental as we aren't getting other reports of players going into DSS without pressing R1/RB. Now that I have heard of your case, I will keep my eyes and ears out but if you do rest your finger up near R1/RB, consider that on that push of your thumb, it could have been hit accidentally as it makes sense to flex your fingers for grip/leverage as you want to move your thumb up.
