HUT Squad Battles Couch Play

When i pre ordered NHL 20 ultimate edition I was under the impression there was going to be more couch play features to play. The specific concern I have is squad battles in hockey ultimate team. It is an offline mode that only allows one controller/player to be playing. When I bought the game I thought this was going to be a couch play feature as this is a majority of the playing I do in HUT. My question is why there isn’t a couch play option and is there a possibility of that being added? I know it probably isn’t a popular way to play HUT with two people but it would be an awesome feature to have, giving couch play players more game modes options.
