Maybe try changing your strategies to Protect Net and Collapsing? Rebounds are way better than they used to be. I haven't had anyone abuse them yet. They've tried, but I see way less rebound goals happen.
That said, they're a part of hockey and should always be a viable way to score. Just not as easy as it was previously. Which is how it is now.
Rebounds are ridiculous in the whole game. They touted “New Goalie Intelligence” reading and reacting to rebounds and it’s simply not there. I’m HUT your goalie drops to his knees and remains motionless while 3-4 rebounds quickly bounce of his pads until the opponent outs it in. The get better argument is moot since you can’t obviously control all 5 players on the ice at once, your AI defenders are wandering aimlessly about, and it happens really quick.
It’s just more of the offense only arcade game EA is going with.
the slap shot rebound is horrible. I have only played 3 games in Franchise mode. If the other team takes a slap shot from an angle, it uses rebounds to the side and easy goal while my goalie is just sitting there.
It doesn't help that every rebound seems predetermined to go back directly to the attacking team over and over again. Just keep spamming shoot until one goes in right? Good times EA!!
