Fix this 1st! Its breaking the game!

9gt4taro65cr.jpg

Can you fix this kind of crap before you go ahead and do anything else and make new game modes?

3azwkd5t33bf.jpg

Why is this the kind of play that rewards a goal? It's perfect defense. It's a 2 on 3, my D puts himself perfectly in the way of the puck carrier and should have rode him right into the boards. I got 2 other D covering too.

e732bll3mgwe.jpg

Instead he is allowed to effortlessly cut inside and litterally warp his arms stick and puck threw my D guys skate leg and arms, all while maintaining full control didnt even lose a step. Somehow out skates the 3rd guy back for me while defying the laws of physics with his cut, no deak, no move whatsoever, to show any kind of user skill becides just breaking the laws of physics morphing threw my body.

77l9u5f09s2y.jpg

Then my D is now out of the play completely the 3rd man back is useless and the other D watching the play, for absolutely no reason at all, abandons his assignment and steps up threw the slot and covers their 3rd man in, even tho the puck is down at the circles now, he decides the best man to step up and cover is the last guy to enter the zone up at the blue line and abandon the front of the net.

bc9qpv1pmiqv.jpg

Obviously with a clear path to the net, absurd unnatural powers to bend and morph threw solid matter, and donkey brained AI defenseman, Mathews glides in for an easy Backhanded goal past an otherwise stellar goalie who posted a solid 25% save percentage for the game.

I mean this is the dog crap that ruins this franchise, from a developers stand point can you please breakdown the play as i Did and explain yourselves? What is the thought process in the programming room to have the last D man back, just abandon the front of the net, furthermore, how did the puck even morph threw the 1st defender? Why is this trash possible and how are you proud of this? It's clearly broken, and it's no mystery why the majority of the community is so fustraited with the game. How can this happen, how can this play maintain this unreal ammount of puck control then other guys fumble the puck for no reason or lose control on a breakaway from a defender 4 feet behind them?

  • Here's another beauty from the same game,
    v38f1aidv1is.jpg
Again out numbered, D in great position knocked the puck off his stick, but magiclly after 6 stick checks my guy fails to get control with the puck practically on his stick, but fails to get it because the triple covered guy with the puck behind him reaches back, after fighting threw 6 stick checks, and reclaims the puck.
    e0ioupwbnph1.jpg

After a final missed attempt at getting the puck with it right infront of him, the guy with the puck behind him reaches back and retains it 100%, moves a bit to the outside gets around the 1st D man completly uncontested and slides the puck over to a completly covered winger. c3qnq20m1wv8.jpg

Once again a 2on3 so good defensive numbers and good coverage, lost the battle in the slot, but still forced the puck carrier to the outside and a poor angle and got solid coverage in the slot on the winger, right? WRONG!!! once again for no reason at all my defenseman steps out of the way away from the play and makes no attempt whatsoever to play the puck or knock it away. Just casually moves himself out of the way.3fb9oux7qal3.jpg
At this point its fairly obvious whats going to happen. And with a little matter warping and breaking physics again he pops in another undeserved game breaking goal. And ice tilt isnt real? z4iv2jw4mhd3.jpg
Stick right threw the kneecap lol.

  • I agree with the physics on the game being flawed. I play mostly defence on our club. It's quite ridiculous at times how players can maintain control of the puck while their sticks are going through sticks/legs/body. Numerous pokes with stick on puck contact an little or no loss of puck control, etc etc. Seems even worse this year.
  • Great post. I have a lot of the same feelings. It'd be nice if the AI would perform some defensive actions to help out.

I Can feel your frustration. I have seen some crazy stuff out there over the years, when the game speed levels up more and more its like the game cant catch up for one side, player switching stop working and no mather how good you stand betwen you and the puck, it Will end up at your opponent, and pretty soon in your own net.

Dynamic adjustment connected to how your Connection to the game mess up everything. As I said in another post, I like were we are heading, feels like the gliding ballerina L2 abuse(attack hockey with your **** first) is much harder to get away with, but if I gonna have a stand of chance to defend that I must be in full control of my player in a smooth game were the players actually do what I want to do.

  • My two cents to explain what I think is happening. Back 3-4 years ago maybe more the programming incorporated fairness adjustments. The first attempt created the classic tilt that being bronze and silver cards got a noticeable boost to in game momentum. Minor adjustments have gone on but gamers have noticed and called this feature out. Zoom ahead four years the call outs have gotten stronger and people have left the game because their 85-88 players do not react like their overalls.....so now this year I believe EA has made the overalls actually work according to gold better than silver better than bronze. My guess is the way they did this is to have lower players act braindead around higher rated players. So if Marchand is going in he's gonna get some force field around him. This is very noticeable with McDavid there are times you just can't toggle an AI around him. I noticed higher rated admen actually zoom to protect cross crease cherry pickers. I think EA has given players heir call out remedy and gamers aren't realizing it they just think the ai is dumb. I think that's what's going on and people are still defining this as tilt although what it really is is a software attempt at making higher overalls better than lower overalls, as we've all asked EA to do. Try adapting your game to reading your opponents lines and their fatigue. The simulation of the game and how it plays out with regards to breakaways ect is very heavily influenced by these offsets. Anyway that's my opinion why the whole AI seems silly but it does follow an order that can be dissected out.

How about when your over 86 players are acting braindead? Did ea just accidentally give them bronze ratings that game?

How about when the silver players are all playing like they're a line up of 99s?

Kind of makes you're whole ratings matter now spiel, kinda meaningless.

That's just one aspect of the programming there are many others that affect the gameplay. The way I see it there are about 3 or more meta engines at play in this game controlling stuff. The first is the overalls as I just described. The second and user controllable is momentum. If you take icings miss passing and give away interceptions your team will almost immediately turn into idiots temporarily and also I noticed about a 90 % chance of a goal against. On the other hand when you gain an interception or make strings of passes it recovers and gains. The software seems to me to have these as windows for scoring. Intertwined with the above explains much of the behaviour of the ai. Third first and last minutes seem to be more exaggerated towards the above. Finally I think there are two other features or more hat are present but less strong. Home team may get some boost at times I have not figured this out yet tho. I do believe if you logged on after winnng a game in your last online session your team will be disadvantaged at the start as well. I believe this helps with win streaks. Finally I also believe that your ai settings vs each other also influence starting speed and momentum. I've noticed when I play a team playing 1-4 my team is consistently slow as mud despite having 90 plus skating. All these things are trying to sim real life hockey from a programming perspective. I think this is for the most part accurate since 2015 I've been watching all these features. But this year I'd say the programming for the first year is allowing top players to outshine lower players like we wanted. You can still win with silver and bronze cards the game engine does reward passes and interceptions and cheesiness still so skill is still able to have some chance against higher overalls. This year I've really noticed getting help from my high end players. I'm not the best player and they definitely assist me. In previous years I found them liabilities.
  • Hmmm, I am curious to hear @Sinbin take on all this. He asks for videos all the time, yet never posts in the ones with the most videos.

So @Sinbin if you could be so kind as to drop in here and discuss, I would rather enjoy having a good spirited debate with you on it. Of course, no insults are needed nor will be used, just a good spirited debate.

I would be very interested to see a developer walk us through frame by frame as i Did in the 1st post, and explain the other side of it. And as to why the puck moves the way it did, why the guy too far infront of the puck gets the puck reaching back instead of my guy standing right on top of it, and why the AI reacts the way it did and moves itself out of the play. A little insight into the thought process would be very helpful in correcting my "mistakes" and "play better D" so goals like this will stop happening against me regularly

Those are pics. Not videos. Post videos and I'll give my input on them. In other threads, if I'm not responding to videos, it's because either I didn't see them or don't have anything to add to the conversation. I don't exactly live on these forums. I don't see every post the moment it's live. Usually, others see them first and break them down already.

Yea meant to say photos, but said videos... Nailed me there lol.

As for the rest, fair enough. I get it.
  • I have video of the same play I described, I just don't know how to post it. It says it's not the right file type to post here, can i send it in a message?
