Can a DEV chime in on if this is actually how you guys want the game to be played? Do you want the ridiculous L2 abuse in the game? Please let me know if this is the direction your taking this game so I can stop wasting my time hoping for an update and I can just never buy the game again. This isnt hockey. The silence on this issue just confirms everyone's suspicions that you dont give a crap about your actual fan base, you just want the game to be easily exploitable by 15 year old streamers.
Dev has confirmed they are looking into it and see what can be done. It isn't as fast and as simple a fix as we think. If they mess around too much or go too far on tuning the skating, it could break other functions.
I am in the same boat as you, but sadly, we have to be patient on this and at least they are looking for a solution. This tells me it is not the intended direction of the game.
I doubt they find a fix this year, we've already gone through one whole game.
That very well may be true, but at least I am happy to see that it is not intentional and a fix is planned. Had the questions on LT abuse been ignored, I would take it as it is fine and staying and therefore I would not stay on board. Question is, when is that fix coming?

I would think a simple fix. Holding LT should only be a partial pivot, tapping should be spinnoramma with the puck. Without the puck, allow holding to also act as a partial pivot or continuous holding to be back skate? I mean, how many players do you see in the real world skating backwards with the puck?
I feel like this would be the best way, but maybe I'm wrong.

Players skate or glide backwards with the puck in a lot of cases. Most common uses would be to pivot around to make a forehand pass once in the zone, etc. but there are other contexts when regrouping on defense to increase a gap before making a lateral pass or a pass up the boards. Or you may receive a pass skating backwards and then choose which way you pivot back to forwards. You need the ability, it is just how it balances when people abuse parts of the mechanic as we just don't commonly see it in some of the scenarios people use it in our game (ie on the rush at speed). For one, they can't see like players can in our game with their top down view and the ability to hang onto the puck when pulling it with you isn't as easy it is in our game at default settings -- but that is when you get into the subjective tuning across the game as all pieces on our default online settings are a bit more heightened than what they are when comparing to full sim.
So the things we are looking at are puck loss and/or limiting the speed to pivot from hustle into backskating, puck control when skating backwards with the puck and ability to pivot back against your current pivot, especially with the puck.

What about simply limiting how long someone could remain in a back skating movement, maybe a few strides before it auto returns to forward skating.

They had the concept right in 14... Then they completely rebuilt the game. Yes there were some flaws in 14, but not enough to take all the enjoyable portions of the game, just to slowly add them in years later... Eashl/drop-ins would I think be more enjoyable with the BAP progression system, also bri9back adjustable stick flex and blade size... Been saying this for years.. Is it possible to actually do this..? And make an enjoyable hockey game again..? Not saying it's completely terrible, but the cons kind of outweigh the pros...
There was a way in a previous version of nerfing the skill stick puck protect that's very abused, when you tried that in game, after a couple of seconds your player performed a through the leg deke automatically...but as you can guess, this was removed after a flurry of complaints in here and on other media formats.
Bring that back, nerf the LT abuse, slow the acceleration of players {or have the stamina drain much quicker with a player who stops and starts many times } and up the control of the puck slightly on the actual puck protect button and the game would be better in my opinion...
Its really sad how little this game resembles hockey, I have hardly played any games this year due to the way it plays, I prefer to spend my time in other games.
When are you going to pull the plugs from your ears and listen to us and get rid of the absolutely stupid outdoor rinks and clown gear that literally no one likes?

Don't hold your breath. It might be a decision made above the dev team and either way you can't go back on your big new "features" until it's been long enough to justify the cost put into developing them. They are here to stay until it's been long enough that another member can pass off arenas as a great new feature.

Hi.
You are right absolutely. The problem is between the development computer and game we play.
Your words : "Players skate or glide backwards with the puck in a lot of cases". Not in all time!
LT backwards is not as in the real now. Mostly time it looks absolutely unreal. The point is how it look this because this is a game. If this function look so bad you have choice not put this to the game. LT backwards skating is very specific for any specific situation contextual in real play of hockey. You are developer you can do this choice rightly or nothing.

Limit the speed, don't increase puck loss or control. No NHL player would lose the puck while pivoting.
Can we get the Ducks 3rd jersey straightened out? Last year's alternates were a single season jersey (25th anniversary) and have reverted back to the Orange 3rd. Simple fix, no?

Simple fix ? HA!.....they’ve been using the wrong fonts for the leafs jerseys all along in spite of all the request to fix it lol
I guess it's safe to say that this joke of a game isn't getting the much needed Tuner and patch it needs , don't you people have any pride in your work . what a joke
ive started to reach the "next level" opposition- the true L2 masters. Exposing his back to me on purpose- fanning his stick left or right - looks stupid and incredibly hard to predict where he will go , and quite hard to hit him in the back while spinning. You think while a fella is spinning with his back to you would be kinda like fodder to an average big nhl defenseman. It should be far easier to cause a big stumble when you're really close to your opponent. Or make it harder to change directions multiple times, swaying back and forth like a pendulum... I can't poke it off you, really the only thing I can do it bump from behind.
So, as a person that's still trying to make sense of NHL '20, what have you done to the goalies in EASHL, and why are we being punished for playing the position? For example, when you're hugging the right post with the blocker and stick on the ice, and you let go, you find yourself being propelled into the slot. It's the same thing for stacking the pads, to the left, where you get propelled even further into the slot. Why? And why does the goalie freeze while trying to right stick left or right, after giving up a rebound in the butterfly position? Do you have any idea how many goals that are "rewarded" because of these two glitches or whatever ridiculousness they're referred to as? Even when you're doing your best to stop the puck, despite the overpowered forwards (there's not a lot of skill needed to score, anyway), we're still being punished. Oh, and one more thing, why in the blue flip did you change the puck cover-up (triangle button on the PS4) to a butterfly position with the glove slightly higher than the R2 (PS4) butterfly position? Do you have any idea how hard it is to cover the puck now, unless the automation is doing it, while getting railroaded by forwards? It's freaking nonsense.

They like to change controls for no apparent reason, and not for the better.
A lot of the saves were made off of holding R1/RB and hitting the RS. This made sense as your movement (LS) is separate. Now those same saves are made holding Square/X and hitting LS, the same control as your movement.
One example where this is a problem: To execute the Spread-V save it used to be hold R1/RB and RS down. You could seamlessly slide to your left or right using LS and execute this save. Now the Spread-V button configuration is hold Square/X and LS down. So if you want to slide over to your left or right and make the Spread-V save you can't, you'll do the Desperation Dive Save (Square/X + LS left or right) instead.

Agreed, but sadly, it isn't the patch date that concerns me but rather, its content.
