Why are you asking me that? If the programmer does not hear you here, it's not my fault. Since I myself played ice hockey for a long time I know how to play this game. Incidentally, the photo in the profile shows me
I'm not. It's called a rhetorical question. It's not meant to be answered, just puzzled.
And believe me, I've puzzled... And puzzled. And puzzled some more... Until my puzzler was sore.
You know you can make EA be at your Mercy right? stop buying games cause their all the same anyway. Heck, NHL 95 is still the better of realistic hockey I have seen and thats way back in... well... 95!
You probably think I'm nuts saying this but the game of hockey was really a simulated game of hockey in that game! If you tried playing simulated hockey style..it allowed you too unlike today's games witch has force fields and non working player switching.
If EA really wanted to make defence better, they would had brought back the NHL 94 SNES version of defence activation.
Sorry, but you guys are to blame if you want change.
By the way .... Offline with the right slider settings, the gameplay is not so bad for a computer game.
That’s the only way I can play this game anymore. But even then there’s animation problems, ai intelligence issues, and a load of other problems that just ruin the experience fully.

Like if you are in the going in for a check and someone on your team gets the intercepts a pass or picks up a lose puck you automatically shoot the puck away. If the button was already pressed and your team gets the puck, it should cancel out the action. Same with passes that happen when you press to change players but someone gets the puck and you pass the puck into no mans land.
Or when a team member gets the puck and just sits there like oh, look i have the puck. what should i do? while you are trying to get him to go anyway possible. so freaking annoying.

Yup gotta love that. I also hate how the ai has no urgency getting the puck up the ice. They will wait for the passing lane to disappear before they pass and if you call for it they will put it on your tape, a lot of the time causing it to get intercepted because there’s a cluster of people in the N zone. They should pass it up and off the boards to let you skate into it to keep speed.
This wouldn't be that bad if EA had a proper player switching option that didn't decide to give you the player with the LEAST amount of chance of being in the play.
Loose puck going towards the opponent's net, I have a guy in position to skate fast and pick it up for a breakaway? Nope... I keep cycling between the winger and/or d-man 3 miles behind the play. They're not even on the screen, all you see is the arrow at the bottom of your screen go back and forth as it switches out players you DON'T WANT TO CONTROL. Oh and don't talk to me about the RS + RT "Manual" switching either, it does the exact same thing.

It's the ai intelligence issues that prevent the game from shining offline. You can get the game looking right, but you can't stop your ai from making really stupid decisions on pivotal plays.

I know it’s really frustrating. It shouldn’t be a struggle to get gameplay to match real life hockey gameplay especially if you only control one player, but EA does absolutely nothing to try bringing that experience to us they think their game plays well. All these 11-9 baseball scores.

I have a question to anyone who works for EA; when will you guys release a game that actually represents a game of hockey, not only in the stats but the way it plays as well. Gameplay where you actually have to wear down the other team with chances, or actually move the puck around to find holes in the defence instead of just L2ing around everyone and shooting it top right or making an impossible cross crease pass.

AI aside, I can get somewhat close to a representation of hockey. The one where even the odd chance pucks go through goalies so it encourages shooting, shots from good shots have high percentages to go in, checking works, you can't L2 all over because you'll lose the puck (like in real life, it's difficult to control if you're skating around backwards), you lose the puck sometimes from over-deking, etc.

Problem is, offline only.
I do agree with a few of those points, it’s nice that shots from anywhere have any random chance of going in and for the most part it doesn’t feel unfair.
I feel opposite on your first and last point though, I can only play the games against ai anymore because that’s the only time it feels like hockey to me, especially in the defensive end. Online most people just skate around in the circle as one guy until either the cross crease pass opens up or the goalie goes down and off the post and the cheese it over the shoulder. That’s the way it’s felt for years and that’s because it’s the easiest way to score goals and works 90% of the time, even if you’re in good defensive position you can’t control two guys at once, so you either cover the chest snipe or the cross crease but your ai will let the other one happen. I feel EA can do a little bit more to steer the gameplay more towards the realism side where you have to work around the d and get them moving with passes.
