Yeah you'll need to update the rosters in order to get the new uniforms. They usually come out later in the day.
  • I’m just curious Ea did you add the play of the game and period to the offline modes like play now, franchise mode, and be a pro.I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who would like that.

. Don't know to what extent the poke check trips got tuned, but I have a feeling it will be a better balance. As long as people can't machine gun pokes, I am good with it.

That would involve a complete animation change, which I'm sure they didn't do. And that is the core fix, as when a defensemen faces a puck carrier, he doesn't swat at the puck carrier's feet, he swats the puck carrier's stick blade.

Will be very interesting to see the result of this tuner.
  • Great job EA,
i know you guy get it here on this forum ,but man ..i have to give you guys and girl credit.
i played all morning offline with this patch (without any tuners ,last patch ,the tuner mess up the skating,i did not want the same problem +i have a good tuners set )...

the skating flow ,the explosiness, the puck weightness..goalie and fighting animation i have never seen before ...the overall players weight and hitting animation, the loose puck feeling
    .....overall an amazing job .

you fine tune this game really well...especially the inteception or that weird stick to stick magical puck transfer...a lot of weird a.i decision are gone .

since my playing nhl on super nintendo with john vanbiesbrouck on it ...LOL
still not perfect ....but by far best nhl to date

    Congrats and keep it up!

    Gameplay
    ----
    - Fixed a rare case where the puck could stop dead when passed or shot around the boards
    - Various interception logic tuning
    - Reduced player ability for pickups outside skaters field of view (1 hand behind the back pickups) so they do not play as often and as unrealistically fast
    - Defensive awareness attribute made more effective and tuned the windows in which players can intercept pucks within their field of view
    - Improved player head tracking of the puck
    - Players tuned to have less balance/preparedness when pivoting or backskating with the puck
    - Fixed the issue where holding pass would negate spins from working which opened up holes in skating blends
    - Fixed an issue where slapshots in the defensive end would target your own net instead of the left stick direction
    - Further improvements to covers for pucks underneath the goaltender
    - Fixed a case where the goalie would continuously lose the puck when performing a between the legs cover
    - Fixed a few cases where the puck was able to slip past the goalie unintentionally while they were tight to the post
    - Increased the amount of stick contact on legs/skates needed to cause a trip

    Presentation
    ----
    - Added additional commentary
    - Added consensus skip to Play of the Period replays

    World of CHEL
    ----
    - Turned off Canal outdoor rink from EASHL Drop-in 3v3 and 6v6
    - Fixed an issue where top clubs in Threes Eliminator stopped receiving points when near the top of the leaderboards
    - New content added to World of CHEL which is to be revealed through the Chel Challenge card. Tune in regularly to see what exciting new stuff you can earn

    Art – Equipment
    ----
    Helmet
    - True Dynamic 9 Pro Helmet

    HUT
    ----
    - Fixed an issue where Users would sometimes crash playing against certain Squad Battles teams
    - Fixed an issue where Users would sometimes earn negative Skill Rating for a Win in HUT Rivals

    Art - Jerseys
    ----
    NHL
    - Anaheim Ducks Alternate
    - Boston Bruins Alternate
    - Colorado Avalanche Stadium Series
    - Los Angeles Kings Stadium Series
    - Dallas Stars Winter Classic

Just played a drop-in 6's game. The game plays a LOT better defensively now. Of course, the true test will be defending against an LG team (LT puck control madness), but so far so good.

    EA,

I am pleasantly surprised things have changed from a support perspective over the past 10 years. This never would have happened for NHL '12, as back then, your forum moderation response to tons of people reporting on how bad the game play aspects were in multiplayer modes, was to ban their forum accounts. It was SO bad, I actually stopped buying the franchise from '13 through '18. Indeed, good riddance to [Removed - CM] LOL

While I still feel EA would be better off switching to a subscription model, with day-to-day DEV/QA support work on a long-term hockey mechanics engine, your server-side patch today is definitely a breath of fresh air.

    Keep up the good work.

    That sounds pretty awesome actually.
  • Gameplay updates sound really promising! Any new goalie gear (new CCM, Vaughn, Bauer)?

None at all... I don't even see the Winnipeg Jets gloves even fixed... Saskatoon Blades goalie still has the wrong helmet... Nor can you edit the colour of the Bauer Vapor 2X Pro pads like most of the pros have them coloured

Elaborate on "Various interception logic tuning"? @NHLDev

The 3 bullets below it are supposed to be indented below that one. We have made the way that defensive awareness works more consistent so that the same player shouldn't feel like they picked off the same pass one time but not the next. It will also mean that you will see the player differentiation where players with the defensive skill set will be able to react consistently quicker than those who aren't as strong on defense.

And then we looked specifically at the one hand behind the back pickups and made sure the top end of their time scale wasn't unrealistic.

You will still see players intercept pucks that come from behind them but in general they would need more time. To improve the visual of this, we also made some improvements to head tracking as a side piece but the head tracking itself doesn't limit the players ability to receive the puck -- it will just look more natural in more cases.

So I am sure there will still be interceptions that players feel are a bit strong but there are also offensive receptions that are a bit strong. There is more we want to do in the future to round out the grey areas in receptions and look back at layered defensive deflections and abilities based on relative puck speed, incoming angles and the posture of the pickup (one handed, on the backhand, reaching across body, etc. relative to an easy forehand pickup out front) but the first change was to look at the main cases called out by the community and ground things to reward smarter passes but ensure that defense as a whole is still very strong when in good position.
  • What about the issue in be a pro &/or franchise mode where it will show identical season/careers stats for both goalies in the pregame introduction?

Geez, this better get fixed soon, starting to really PO me...
  • @NHLDev what about the franchaisemode bugs? and the face scans from the rookie showcase that a whole other thread have been waiting for?
  • Hopefully this is not another case of "goalie threat analysis" and more of a, "Wow they actually did what they said they did!" because I noticed zero difference from the pivoting from the last patch.

@NHLDev At the new Roster no new likenesses have been added ! Did you await something others from this Team ? My simple answer .... if they do not add minimum 50-100 likenesses to NHL 20 from their scan archive they will loose me as a Customer. I know they do not care about, like they always do not care about Customers wishes all the years.
