Honestly it's sad that so little to nothing has been changed from last gen console to this gen console which shows me that literally with next gen console right around the corner that EA is legit a console behind on everything

Graphics updated as expected since it is a new console but gameplay and all that really hasn't changed at all... same glitches and issues as last gen

Few minor changes to stick checks and poke checks and that's it...

A LOT taken outta the game though

I really don't see much of a change to next gen at all and it's strongly disappointing as I've been playing since Electronic Arts NHL Hockey 91...

There have been huge changes with gameplay since the previous generation. Especially with NHL 19 and 20. Skating, for example, is completely different. Shooting, goalies , the DSS, AI behavior, dekes, additional modes, presentation, etc. What glitches are the same? What issues still exist?

    Goalies are worse then ever....

Shooting is honestly pretty weird when you're in front of the net and it still somehow manages to go far wide and miss the net completely...

Goalies well goalies went completely backwards and can't stop anything no matter how you play and even have defense...

AI behavior is extremely messed up when you watch your defender score on himself when he goes to go behind the net... even the goalie AI is not good when a goalie scores on himself or can't stop a puck that's literally passed to him or he'll manage to take a penalty cause he's outta the trap lines...

Dekes are more a less just fixed from what they had before...

Additional modes? I recall at one time they had the skills comp? So seems like they take modes away too...

Glitches? Well the glitch shot and goal is still there from last gen... Not to mention some new glitches and bugs... Pretty weird when you see a dude just freeze and glide across the ice or see a goalie sliding around on his backside around the ice...

Oh and I'm not entirely sure the EA crew knows what exactly the rules of hockey are as I've seen some weird calls and whistles on icing when it should have never been called icing...

So the jerseys that were added....if I have my own roster, does that mean I can't use the new jerseys?? Why can't the jerseys just be added without having to download a roster?

They are assigned via database and I believe when you start a season, it is basically duplicating the database so that all roster moves, etc. are exclusive to your personal season.

I agree that it would be nice if the assignments of jerseys was done separate from that but that is how it is technically achieved at the moment.

    Good day. Loving the game.

Please, please, please, address the hitting from behind for NHL 21. It’s a poor representation of the sport by glamorizing dangerous and dirty play in this licensed NHL product. Looks terrible and it might make kids think that’s it’s okay to do IRL.

    Cheers

Lol I've literally been called for icing after being in posession of the puck for a few steps.

Can you give me some details on how shooting is weird? If your shots are going wide, that's normally an issue with aim as well as not having the puck settled. As always, video with the controller overlay showing will help find out what's going on.

To say goalies don't stop anything is a slight exaggeration. If goalies weren't stopping anything, we'd be seeing 20 goal games all the time. I get the point you're trying to make, but being more constructive will help add weight to your claims.

I haven't seen AI players scoring on themselves near as much as they used to. I often have an AI D partner and I can't remember the last time he scored on us. I'm not saying it never happens, but in my experience, it's not as often as people claim. What I would like to stop seeing is AI defenders skating the puck into the goalie. I'd rather they keep their distance and move the puck. I'm also rarely ever seeing goalies let in passes. Again, it happens now and then, but for it's incredibly uncommon in my games.

What glitch shot and glitch goal are still in from 6 years ago?

I'm not seeing the goalie slide around like that, but I did see a vide of it recently. If you have any, that would be good to see so we can try to reproduce it.

The dev team is aware that icing occasionally isn't called right. Hopefully, we'll see that improved.
  • Game crashes so much more after patch. 8 games played, 6 of them just suddenly crashed/disconnected in OVP. This didn’t happen before patch.
What I was able to play, game felt marginally better. Noticed a lot more players just skating over loose puck without iniating puck pickup. Like in previous versions of NHL...
  • Added consensus skip to Play of the Period replays
Thank you @NHLDev, really appreciate it, but the implementation is terrible.
Here is how to do it right:
Period ended and replay starts, show text in the corner: "Press A (Xbox) to skip replay" So when I press A at any time, I can go to intermission menu and wait remaining time there. When I do not press A, I can watch replay and after that next period starts.
Now I'm pressing A and nothing has happened, I cannot skip it because other players did not press A. What ?

  • @EA_Aljo any insight to my posts about behind the net movements being totally borked?
  • In EASHL, pucks have been stopping dead on the blueline when a pass is attempted to either a dman or a fwd. This is extremely problematic. Also, there is no attempt now to intercept cross crease passes. The defending player just stands there n doesn't react. The L2/LT isn't prevalent enough.

I know of one, not really a Glitch, but I think it's the one handed tuck deke is severely op, it's used like 90% of the time on breakaways, or penalty shots. It usually goes in when it's an ai goalie
  • Thank you! I stopped playing for a while because I am not into 10-8 crapshoot games. Now I can finally play defense again! Its so nice not to have 5 cross crease goals scored on me per game.
  • Enjoying the patch in franchise mode.

Glad to see they are aware of the icing issues. I have been the first to the puck on several occasions and icing is called.

Thanks for fixing the pregame goalie stats!
  • Thank god the stats in Franchise mode is fixed. Kudos to the devs for this! I also want to say I love this game so much more when you release GOOD updates. You have done it right this year.

Now.. remake the menus for NHL 21, please! They are slow and we have a really bad user experience when navigating them.

@NHLDev @EA_Blueberry @ If you mean the Popups from the Goalies at the beginning of the game, yes. They are fixed. But the ,, first game after trade ,, and ,, first carrer goal ,, are alive. It doesn’t matter if the Player plays his 10th season game for his new club or shoot his 10th Goal, it always will be his first. More Popups like last five game statistics from hot and cold Players during the game are welcome. I guess it would not be hard to implement cause they are saved in the database of the game. Same as to open the past games of the season in the Calender to review the statistics. Funny or sad ? that we must make screenshots or write on paper to save this data on a modern game if we want to know past game statistics. Myself doing also screenshots from all Trades of all Teams of the League that I know later the Trade history of a Player and for whom ( Player ) or what ( draft pick ) he was traded. A Player needs a Trade history in his Profile. Past early games of this series was made much better in this case.
  • 5hole wrap glitch will be the new exploit soon since goalie gets beat 5hole during those wrap animations even when in perfect rvh butterfly when reading the wrap play perfectly.

On penalty shots, players lose puck possession and are able to still get a chance as the plays stays alive. Brad Marchand nipped the puck n the play whislted dead. Why does EA make their own rules instead of following the official NHL rule book?
  • What happened to Play Now mode, goalies are gods now!?

Played 6 matches with a friend, superstar setting. We have always played superstar and have had no issues scoring.

This time totally different, 6 games and we managed only 1 goal from A++ scoring places with a direct shot.

Game felt like its purpose is only to score one-timers.

This feels even weirder when in HUT those same A++ scoring places go in.

Why did u kill the Play Now mode as it doesn't resemble hockey anymore. Its still a popular form to play when your friends come over.

What also bothers me how different its from versus year after year. Why can't they be the same if human vs. human games. I understand if u play cpu but human vs. human should feel the same as in online versus.

Please fix the Play now mode as one-timers or breakaways are not the only viable scoring possibilities in hockey.

    Thank you.
  • @NHLDev After patch literally every other game in OVP now is won by pause exploit DNF WIN. Lost now 4/5 games in row because of this. Fix it asap.
Passes are also a mess after patch. My pass % dropped from 85-90% to lower 70%, what happened?

Theyve been that way since last gen. Doubt It'll be fixed any time soon.
