Which I’m 99% I won’t get but here goes:

Why did you guys make the AI so unhittable, un poke-checkable, super strong, perfect at passing, masters at intercepting, masters at rebounds, and Scott Stevens on steroids at hitting - in EASHL.

Who thought this through and decided “yeah, that’s how we want it”.

I want to make this clear: This is not a “git gud” scenario. Just give us a name. Who’s the brains behind this decision?

  • Don't forget they don't miss a single shot they take, i took multiple screen shots of games i lost today that the CPU on the other team went 100% shooting, EA will say there is no ICE TILT yet the AI is better then any human player that is the tilt. 99% of my loses in this game have come when playing 2 guys and CPU. TO many bad players win cause they CPU is scoring 3 to 4 goals a game for them they need to be NERFed.

Lol tell me about it. I had a game earlier where we were dominating the other team and had a 3-0 lead at the end of the first. Both teams had 3 players and a goalie each to start. During the first intermission 2 of the opposing team’s players quit, and well you can guess what happened from there. I ended up quitting after their 4th goal, every single one by the 2 robots they had.

Yes I know it was only 4-3 but it wasn’t even about the score at this point. My d man was a total rookie as well and I knew it was only going to get worse. That’s all it takes. Myself and the winger on my team were decent enough players, but all it takes in 3s is one player that’s not very familiar with the game. At least in 6s you can hide that one player a lot better.

I think we had 1 shot on goal during their 4 goal tirade.
  • I am still waiting an answer from the Devs regarding one of them admitting they put in an "error code". To my understanding it is a code that they put in the game to correct the opposing AI mistake so that it gives them time to make a play against the player, they call it a "challenging AI". There is a reason for why year in and year out gameplay keeps getting worse. You know something is wrong when your players' character response time is delayed and gives time to the opposing AI to adjust. This is obvious when you are trying to pass, shoot, hit and or are on a breakaway and your character immediately slows down and miraculously they catch up and steal the puck. Or better yet not getting any help from your AI teammates on 2-1 plays. The opposing AI can pokecheck, hit, pass and shoot without a problem while being hit or completely out of position. You can clearly see the difference between the opposing AI's response/playmaking and the your teammate AI's. Never thought it was possible to make a worse game.

This has been responded to by the devs. It's also been stated numerous times over the years that it's not true. So, you probably won't be getting yet another answer from them on it. The right answer has been given. Repeatedly at that, but since it doesn't line up with the assumptions and theories that people come up with, it's not being accepted by the community.

Kinda funny that it has been stated by the Devs, that the community is incorrect in their assumptions. Yet they cannot explain, nor define the strange "anomaly" experiences that thousands of people have had over the years.

  • There is no denying the inhuman play of AI when they are left alone to make plays by 2 humans who don't call for passes etc.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. 90% of my losses are to teams that quit when down 2 or 3 goals and get replaced by insane AI.

I don't think this is ice tilt or some intentional error code it is simply programming that makes the AI basically "cheat" at higher difficulty levels.

Like the Total War series on PC. When you increase the difficulty, the AI simply spawns entire armies out of thin air, breaking all of the rules of resources needed to do so etc.

I am a higher CR player and have played this game since 09. The struggle against a team of AI is real and is not done in a fun and realistic way. They are practically untouchable. If you have a human goalie forget it lol.
  • Just played 4 games of eliminator where they have a CPU.. they let the CPU score and play defense.. then run behind their net to get 2v1 all game.. CPU literally won them the entire game. 2 of those teams had over 1,000 cr. I had 1200 until tonight. AI is SOOO overpowered in their abilities and in eliminator on a tiny surface and being bigger than a max size enforcer they're REALLY broken!

In EASHL dropins you have to know all your teammates if they get cpu because 1 incompetent player will be picked apart by the AI. The AI makes this game so unplayable unless you have a full team of great players and keep the puck away from them.

So I decide to play club 6's.. first game I play we get cr glitched..

I think the reason AI is so good is because ppl complain about them being so stupid.. so instead of trying to rework their logic they boost their abilities. Then people ride the CPU for wins.. if the CPU messes up they run to the forums to say they need to be better. Make the CPU only do what humans can do. If they lack in logic people will try to play with more humans rather than ride the CPU! This game still has problems without CPU but eashl is MUCH better with less CPU.

Except most examples of 'tilt' occur in offline modes, completely negating the connectivity excuse. I like how he went all psuedo psychological there.

Playing the CPU offline is a complete joke even on the hardest difficulty. Once you learn how manipulate the game it's an easy win. You could say well it's not hockey but when difficulty gets raised the AI has to play differently in order to seem harder. You can't just make hockey plays but better magically. Well you can but then you complain about being in position and such but passes were threaded and such. It's no different in NBA2K, MLB, Madden, or FIFA.

Enough with making things personal. Talk about the game, not about people.

  • If ice tilt/DDA does exist they'll never admit to it. This is the only video game I've ever played where this kind of stuff is experienced by as many players as it is. It's not about being bad at the game and making excuses either. We were top 10 in EASHL early on but all essentially quit or switched to more casually play because of the ridiculous game play mechanics. We were be exhausted and mad even after wins. That reddit thread is a cute red herring and a long winded wannabe psychological diatribe that literally dodged the issue. EA has had this issue called into question with every iteration of their interpretation of hockey. Anybody remember the intimidation effect? The devs openly admitted to it on this very forum. If you think it's beyond EA's scope to implement mechanics that take the outcome of games out of the players hands then you haven't been paying attention.

We didn't just admit intimidation was int he game. It was on the box as it was a feature. Not one I liked and thankfully is no longer in the game. If you think it still is or if you think we take the game out of the player's hands, put down your controller and see if the ice tilt kicks in, takes over your players and forces you to win.

Cognitive biases are not pseudo science. It’s a really basic concept and explained in detail in basically every single entry level psychology textbook.

    Let’s not spread misinformation.

Sometimes I think I should just yeet out of this community.

Are you actually talking about psychology or ice tilt:DD

I don’t have a psych degree but that stuff is teached in finnish high schools as a part of the mandatory introduction courses. He actually cites his sources in the reddit post...

If you have better info please enlighten me.

That is hilarious. You mean the answer that has been scripted by the Devs for years even though you have almost entire community say otherwise? Every year after the release of a game you deny and say there is nothing wrong with the game only to contradict yourselves with following years release. The serious issues that are constant and have been the constant since NHL15 has to do with the coding you are putting into the game to make it more "challenging" because you dont know how to otherwise. When everything happens in the game that I have previously stated proves to me that the game goes against what I am trying to do and corrects the opposing AI's mistake. This can clearly be seen time again when I am on a breakaway and I slow right down to only give the AI time to catch up and adjust. It can also be seen when every single of my passes goes in the opposite direction than aimed in. Same goes for pokecheking only for the puck to go directly back to the opposing AI. If I have an open net the response time is HORENDOUS, yet other times where I pose no threat the gameplay is fine.
Every game I win I dont feel rewarded I feel lucky because strategies and skill have NOTHING to do with in this game.
You can clearly see the difference between how the opposing AI plays compared to your own AI's. I get no support and 70% of the time they dont respond. I had an open player at the blue line and when I passed to him instead of getting the puck he jumped just so he could avoid it and my breakaway chance was completely gone.
You can say whatever excuse you want but the gameplay as a whole speak louder than words.

Also, thank you for proving my point with Reddit attachment from 2 years ago where the community talks about the same issues and are provided with basically no answer.
