Just announced. No next gen, late August reveal for an October release. Absolutely embarrassing franchise. Can’t say I’m not surprised but a reveal and then a release like a month and a half later is a joke.

Um you're wrong.... It is on next-gen consoles but won't take advantage of next-gen console features.

The virus has caused lots of problems and with the NHL teams small size you knew it ahead of time.
  • Wise decision, of curse we all wanted to see it on next gen, but I can overlook that if the game that good that I think it will be, better this way then if they just rush into next gen with not so much thought.(remember last time..?)

And after all, october is not that far away, also save me some bucks, ps5 will have to wait.

Cant wait for some in game changes.

Literally every game on Xbox One will be playable on Xbox Series X. If you say a game isn’t on next gen, it means it’s not designed to be next gen.

They already were planning on skipping this year like in NHL 14 way before coronavirus shut everything down. It’s the worst marketing strategy they could possibly use.

    Stop making excuses

It wasn't on next gen consoles in 2013 when PS4/XB1 launched either, why are you surprised?

At least we can still play it on next gen consoles, weren't able to in 2013.
  • Not surprised. Wish they would’ve just scrapped 21 and got “2 years” of dev time into 22 for next-gen.

NHL 15 was on both consoles. The Next Gen version didn't have a lot of the features, and infamously left out EASHL.

Excuse me sir but we prefer to erase that from the history books. That was a fiasco trying to get the answers on things during that time.

Let's hope NHL 22 isn't another NHL 15, and let's hope that NHL 21 is another NHL 14.

NHL 15 was a year after next gen consoles came out.
When PS4/XB1 released in 2013, NHL14 debuted on PS3/360 only.

Yes 15 on next gen was an abortion.

NHL 15 on both consoles were 2 very different games.

Not surprised but disappointed. The progress year to year is so small essentially taking a year off for next gen results in minimal improvements (like in NHL 15 next gen).

I would rather them release an NHL 15 now than next year if that’s what they’re going to do. At least they’d have some excuse why the features are bare boned and tweaks are done now rather than later. I didn’t expect NHL 21 to have a career mode since it’s a short time window and they would have to work on next gen. It was always going to be NHL 22.

Now that NHL 21 isn’t on next gen, that career mode and other key features likely get pushed back until NHL 23.

They meant that NHL 14 wasn't on the PS4/Xbox One.
  • the file bothers me that it's not even a lot of ps4 now .... a lot of games can do 4k but nhl doesn't. At the same time, I would rather turn off the audience, but he had a skating rink and a 4k player ... As well as a menu that no one tells me it can't be done on the current console in 4k ... So yes, such a game does not even need a next gen console, but it will look like if consoles have been on the market for 7 years now. It's shocking that this is not the case with sports games where I polish every year!
  • I would guess that this game will lose support in 38 days, as that is when the contracts pack is scheduled to become unavailable.
