I think all features you can do with Threes or Chel online, you should be able to do offline vs AI. Plus, after years and years, it would be nice to have an All Star game / Trny with 3v3.
Besides fixing the horrible AI, I would definitely recommend new announcers. I turned these guys off because all they do is yell. They're like the drunk friend at the bar who thinks the music is too loud so they have to talk louder. Probably the worst announcers in this entire series history.
Worst announcers? Nah
I like them
They're awful. The guy that does the play-by-play sounds more like he should be doing some event in the Xgames.

i gave up years ago on EA providing anything I want to listen to. To be fair I play a lot and it all gets old in about a week. I turn the sound all the way down and listen to whatever I want.
they need to work on basic competitive game play things before anything else. Consistency of actions for one. Is a poke check a defensive tool? then why does it reward offense way more than it should? Why is it so inaccurate and ineffective?
Do away with attributes for anything involving physics if you cant implement them together properly. The hitting for one. Supposedly its physics based with a lot of impact point animations. That simply doesn't seem to bear out in the game play. Perhaps the attribute system is causing a funk with the physics engine. Just make a 6'2 hitting a 5'10 in the front consistent for slow, medium, and fast speeds. This should also apply to poke checks. Make a poke that hits the puck dislodge it and send it in the direction the poke was going. No more of this millisecond dislodging, puck comes towards you or it going in a direction that makes no sense based on where the direction of the poke came from.(this is mostly due to the poke "triggering" on the pull back animation rather than the push forward animation).
Trying to face the puck all the time is too complicated in this skating engine. Bring back vision control when you don't have the puck. Something this basic yet vital should not be so difficult to do in a sports game.
Human goalies. Why do they never fight off the shot? That's what you're supposed to do if you're deeper in the net and it's going blocker or pads especially at odder angles. They just seem to let the puck hit them unless the right stick is used. Human goalies also dont seem to have an ability to have any real form of presence in their crease.
A question when making and playing this game people should ask themselves is: Is the translation of visual information accurate enough for the appropriate action to work based on how the actions should work?
OR
If it's too difficult to implement consistency, the least that should be done is implementing visual aids for the player.
For example with poke checking:
There can be a visual radius around the controlled player showing the max/min poke length(this could also double as a puck pickup radius). Perhaps there is also a cone in this radius that moves, based on where the player is facing, showing the angles a basic RB press will cover and anything outside of it needs use of the DSS.
Can we get AI that know how to face the net when appropriate on offense? Seems like some “contextual awareness” is needed for your AI to actually use the new “contextual shots” lol.

Or defensive AI that knows how to turn around skate instead of skating backwards?

Wait, you mean to tell me NHL defenders don’t just stand still until they’re completely beat before attempting to turn around and gain speed?
Here is a summary for NHL 21. There is no way that what I'm about to say doesn't happen so here it goes.
There will be some new shiny things that will get the teenagers and people in their 20's interested like new clothing, arenas/locations, dekes, maybe a new mode among other things and get them all excited because "hey look new shiny things".
There will be claims from the developers about new AI functions and how it's going to revolutionize the game though it will probably end up either/and A - not working at all, B - not working to the level they promised, C - not actually changing the game.
There will be changes to HUT that will make some people happy and some people mad.
The 3 on 3 will be the exact same as it's been the past two years (less sure about this one).
Going back to the AI, there will be some things that will be legitimately fixed and other things that for some reason reason that nobody understands are now broken. This also applies to things that were functioning in 1992 yet for some reason is now broken.
Goalies will still suck except for like, 5 of them.
The game will be populated by a high percentage of people that exploit things that shouldn't exist.
There will be raggers and L2'ers and people that do the same things over and over again even though it has no bearing on any realistic interpretation of hockey at any level because that's what developers want because if they didn't then things would be removed from the game.
There will be some of the above because people are crappy.
There will be a lot of racist names throughout the game because all that really matters is giving off the appearance of doing something rather than actually doing something.
DDA will still exist despite illogical claims that don't pass the smell test from people that it doesn't.
The packs and costs of things in HUT will be stupid but people will still buy it.
Physics will still be broken.
The servers will still suck for a lot of people (not an issue for me but it's not just about me. You have to think of everyone)
Hybrid control players will still get the shaft and not in a good way.
The game will continue to be unbalanced towards offence
There will still be a priority of short term money (packs) over quality despite the fact that if a good and balanced game would lead to more money because people will actually talk positively about the game.
The various forums where people will talk about the game will still be extremely toxic from EVERYONE involved.
I may have missed a couple of things but I think this is a pretty good summary.

Hehe excuse me if I laugh, you dont sound optimistic at all.. A win-win for you, if you're right, everything in order, if you're wrong, you probebly get happy.

My guess will be a new deke that will be exploted to no end .....the lacrosse style goal ...I really don't think 21 will be that much different than 20 hope I'm wrong

OMG This. How many times has my elation in a successful poke check been immediately dashed when the puck goes either right back to the same opponent, or the next closest one to him. Checking same deal; rub a guy out only to have him somehow come up with the puck before you and skate away .

Agree. Especially when the direction you are facing is so critical to executing things successfully (as it should be)
We're focusing on playablity lol. So essentially we will get nhl 21 and it will be the same old same old because they refuse to acknowledge what they need to take out because they claim it doesn't exist. Player counts shoul be an eye opener. Its been over 8 month since I found people to play with online. Name a year.....

Yeah I wonder what “late august” means. I’m very skeptical, but would at least like to see some info.
"only" 2 weeks left of August.. And a beta is about to happen too, before October. I guess we got some news next week, I want to believe that.
