The puck drop timing should be variable.

Clean wins shouldn't happen very often.

Centers who are struggling should be able to give up the responsibility to wingers.

Skaters should be able to move around their pre-drop location.

Defenders should not be caught flat footed during puck reception or forwards need the same delay before being able to charge at them.

Don't throw players out of the circle online.

You can't spam the stick anymore and win. Pretty much if a person jumps on the face-off and the other doesn't they are losing the face-off. The whole throwing the person out of the face-off circle was talked about years ago and dismissed as simply a waste of time that prolongs games even more. Hell when the periods were 5mins instead of 4mins people said the games lasted way too long.

I wonder why everyone is in such a hurry, is next game that importen...? 🙄

Because in eashl there is nothing done to deter trolls, deter quitting or keep the super powered idiot ai from doing its thing so after the 2nd period once everybody has quit the game isn't fun and we want to start the next one to get to the fun part again.

Hehe round and round it goes 😏
  • I win far more than I lose but it does suck if your connection drops or you're on a bad server and you just lose 95% of them.. it also sucks when there's no feedback as to why you lost or you feel you lose almost EVERY tossup. I've not played any other hockey games so I don't have many ideas for how to improve the system but I do think it shouldn't be so heavily based on timing with the state of EA servers. With this in mind it's WAY worse if you have to face a cpu when the connection to the server is bad. I lose far more to a cpu than any human then due to poor timing.. hard to beat the timing of a CPU that has perfect connection when I'm running at 60. Just more problems with CPU's though..

All that being said I think custom setups would be amazing! I also think it would be AWESOME if in your club you could adjust strategies from the club editor menu. It would be nice to have which faceoff stuff we want to roll out with when we start so we don't have to remeber to adjust that when puck drops.
  • Some new shiny servers till 21 would make my world spin around.
  • 2k had the faceoff penalty and their faceoffs didn’t take super long even on a delay. Decrease the time the ref sits there heavy-breathing with the puck and you’ll cut down 3-5 seconds per draw on the ref alone. That can makeup for actually have FO penalties.

More FO options too please. Controls can stay the same to switch them, but should probably be more than 3.

Yup. And in 2K, where the puck ended up was random or rather the result of good physics. And yet in 2020, the face-offs still go right to the D-man if you win it back.

Likely as to not add more time to the overall gameplay. I get that and can agree to some degree but it would be nice to have (at least fully implemented offline as an option and with ai "jumping the gun" sometimes. Too stale and static right now).

Perhaps a more practical solution would be to have the "center" not be so tied to taking faceoffs all the time and have an option to switch off with his wingers before puck drop?

This way if your normal center is lagging / weak / or whatever another teammate can give it a go. This can setup strategy for handedness as well depending on the side of the faceoff. Just a thought.

Yeah, im afraid thats right, but its sad the game has to take so much in consideration just beacuse how 'we' are. Almost feel like they cant do a to advanced hockey game beacuse we dont have the time and the will to learn and therefore just put out a simpel, fast game that looks like hockey and that everyone can learn to play the first week they have it. I say take hockey serious and do a game where everyone that want to be good at it, have to put some time and effort into it.

Other then that, I like what you said! 👍

I don't know if you've seen me say this before but ea does nothing to deter trolls in eashl where I spend all my nhl time ;)

Don't want to deal with the extra time, especially when an idiot and/or troll does it every faceoff all game long. Better yet when 2-3 trolls want to see how many tosses you can get per faceoff etc.

Understand. I wonder why EA hockey attract this special behavior. Maybe works the same way in other games too, I dont know, but sometimes I feel its a very young crowd that play this game, or at least, I hope so.
  • try to imagine two big circles.
One circle is the zone where the puck ends near the attacker without the possibility of reaching the defender. there is a fight for the puck.
The second circle is the zone around the defense in which the puck ends without the possibility of reaching the attacker.
The defender can move a maximum of 1 meter forward or 1 meter left or 1 meter right ...

And it's crucial that it sometimes looks like the defender is just standing and pulling out a stick for the puck.
Until the puck bounces off the center hockey stick, everything is actually right.
In my opinion, everything is even right if we are talking about circle number 1! EA is doing right circle 1!!!!

But if we are talking about circle number 2, the "random" one is missing right here.
Should the puck end up in circle number 2 with the option to end up anywhere in the circle?
It would always make an extra defense move. And yes, it was much more realistic, but it's still not an extra second ... But those 50 milliseconds are not enough for the attackers from circle 1 to react to this movement of the defender ....
Unfortunately, EA is not only missing "random", but unfortunately EA is also missing the processing of the puck, which of course the defenders will fly to the hockey stick with different intensity.
And that's another 50 milliseconds to process the puck.

1 second is enough for the attackers to react to the movement of the defender.

It works the same way in other games too but sports games in particular have a hard time coming up with fixes for this behavior.

Call of duty can turn off friendly fire, let you shoot through teammates, run through teammates etc. Sports titles don't have a lot of those options. You have to get more creative.

As much as I complain about the trolls my problem with the NHL team isn't that those people exist in their game or that they can't figure out the right solutions, its that they haven't been trying anything other than the team play kicks which have been completely inneffective for years now.
  • I don't play much Chel, and obviously only drop in, so what does it mean when I have been 'removed from lobby' prior to the game starting? I always assume my 'team' decided I wasn't good enough and booted me. That's not a thing..?

No you can’t be booted by teammates. It’s usually because someone backed out at the last second or quit the app and messed up the server sync.

Let’s stay on topic though please.
  • Why does the winger get to defensemen faster than the puck gets to the defensemen when a center wins the face off. I never have time to do anything as the guy is on top of me before I even get the puck. It’s been like this for years.

While I can accept the fact that not every clean win on the draw should automatically go to the winning side 100% of the time, I absolutely hate how easily the opposing team can just steal the puck (especially in 3on3) when you try to forehand it to your defense.

Because their physics engine is terrible and the wings let their opposing wings just fly past them either due to a lack of physics or the offensive wing just letting him through to the point untouched. Wings tie-up in real faceoffs, not in this game though.
