THe have to rebalance this game.

It doesn't play as hockey. Too much control on Offense, too low risk/high reward plays that constantly go through.

Human Goalies should have a much better control scheme and a shorter learning curve, more forgiveness on inputs and rely on positioning, faster animation and reaction speeds, etc.

Poke needs to dislodge the puck more easily, while getting less trips. Remove that ****ingly annoying 'first drive' and instead set the DSS as always 'ON' the RS.

Ya that's likely a huge cost in the game, between gear, music, NHLPA etc. I wonder what % of their development budget actually gets spent on this.

Which brings me to a rhetorical question: Would anyone buy a "XYZ Hockey Simulator", a realistic hockey sim that was an online versus only "create your own team/player" hockey game? For people who dont care about say HUT and the other modes that rely on all this licensing. Sell it at a lower price point and/or don't make it annualized - no more paying full price for what often amounts to little more than an annual roster update.

Would anyone here buy a game like this?

• I hope hitting gets a much needed buff and tripping isn't still broken, or D-men & Goalies are getting the shaft this year :-/ (again).

They did mention Goalie control will be improved, we shall see.

In be a pro you have to hang out with your team mates or they won't pass to you as much.

Chel has "introduced practice mode" this is good. But shouldn't this read "reintroduce"...

This is like a bad joke...

The annoying James Cybulski now has his own radio show on be a pro...

I don't even...
Its been so long since the EA NHL Dev team had any idea how solve the problem of what does this game need. Every single year they spend time on junk that almost no one wants and definitely no one needs while ignore major areas that need work.

The moderators/community managers and even some of the devs come here and say they are listening but they don't listen at all. Game changer program is a complete joke and in general the game has just gone downhill since it was started.

Some aspects of gameplay have improved over time (although some aspects have gotten worse). But over all everything else about this game just gets worse every year.

For anyone that knows ANYTHING about hockey ... if you haven't already known this group is completely out of touch, the moment you saw the lax goal in the reveal should have been the final indicator to you.

all that matters is making a fun game that is fairly well balanced and accessible for as many as possible.

I guarantee this game with "feel" exactly the same just with more little things to exploit like LT/L2. And outside the gameplay the experience will feel like the increasingly steaming pile of hot garbage that it has been for many years.
To be fair, it seems quite obvious to me that EA has only allocated small budget for a super small team that is tasked with basically doing what they can to release a few selling marketing features alongside a glorified patch so that they can market this as a new game each year and get the suckers to continue buying it. From that point on, let the HUT gambler anonymous crowd make this a profit beast.

Its really sad.
if they are going to run it like an indie startup then they should start charging prices that reflect that.
Thats not our problem. They basically admit were getting a half **** game and theyre gonna charge full price..
• Wow, what's the point of pre-ordering the standard edition? You don't even get early access to it. :(

Actually the deke system was heavily frowned on for being terrible with basic moves failing too much and such. The right people did ask for more creativity.

Only thing I found worthy in the whole article was this...."You can also now select your server manually, so you can pick what’s best for your network performance." (In the EASHL area)

That last part is huge imo. It's been one of my biggest requests. I hope this extends to ultimate team as well.
• Wasn't the server selection for private games only?

That is correct
• Bad defenders are going to stay bad as well since you can't play practice mode as a defender

Not "Reintroduce". Its not even the same thing. You can't even use human defenders.

Absolutely shocking, even for EA

Why in bloody hell is there a practice mode that takes away half of your team?

So basically this is a practice mode for 3s?

Oh come on EA. This is just a new low.

Also noticed a new hotel rink for finals games in club? Getting away from the authentic arenas that people have been asking to see more of...

This is just such a downer. And at full price...
• I love how people are coming to conclusions on something they haven't even played yet. Give it a shot and then rip the game if you see that as a fitting result. Trashing a game you haven't played yet is like trashing a music album you haven't listened to yet. It makes no sense. It's hard to rip anything without testing it first. Maybe these moves will be incredibly hard to pull off and that will eliminate the worry as much.

The one move we'll have to look at closely is "The Michigan", that move could break the game. I really hope EA balances this well otherwise it'll just be overused to abuse the mechanics of the game. I mean I was watching the gaming championship the other night and it was disturbing how some of these goals were scored. It didn't replicate hockey at all, and as a huge hockey fan it was hard to digest that TV show (it was a 30 minute "highlights" type show).

I cant in good conscience, EVER give EA benefit of doubt ever again. Period.

Nothing really mather if the gameplay is bad, its out on the ice we are going to spend most of our time. The other stuff around the ice can definitely contribute a lot but in the long run worthless if you cant stand the gameplay.

I like that it seem to be more stats in 21, but so far I have no clue how the overall grade going to be, but im more at the positive side, best yet, that you can chip the puck and that they say alot of work has been put to get a more intelligent AI. I dont think they would say such thing unless they are pretty sure we are going to experience a clear visual difference in how AI act.
Cause people will be ready to call on that the very first minute if not so...

This is all for the LG guys that play their matches in private games. EASHL is probably going to get the shaft here again.

Not sure how new you are to the franchise but many of us are conditioned to react this way due to the rough past EA has with this game.

It doesn't inspire much confidence when they simply re-add old features and play them off as new. Not only that but this practice mode that is being put back into the game isn't even a real club practice mode it seems.

As I've stated before their actions are borderline dishonest and deceiving. I mean I'd say it is just out right.

To put a full price tag on this game every year is just shady in and of itself.

This product has not been worth full price since NHL 09. And since NHL 09 all we have seen is features removed and then put back in. Things that no one has asked for made to be a huge part of the game, meanwhile important things that have been requested for years aren't even addressed.

Actually, they make statements like this every year and still disappoint because they'll have the game playing great, a few streamers and gamechangers will cry, and they'll change it right back. You think its an ACCIDENT that if 2 forwards come at your d men, one of them steps up and out of the way for the easy cross crease? Nah...they left that there cus people cried about scoring being too hard cus they refused to actually learn how hockey is played and instead just like everything else these guys want instant gratification with goals.

We could have a game that resemble hockey. They proved it with the 19 beta. But guess what? People with no knowledge of how hockey goals are EARNED and noy a given, cry and EA gives them their way cus they have streaming fans, and those fans buy packs so if said streamer wasnt happy with how the game plays and stops playing....ut oh EA would lose a few bucks. Every decision they make little or small is a calculated decision on what will make them the most profit. Period. Its not about giving us a quality product. Never has been with EA.
