Well given they don't consider 5000 survey responses a large enough sample size to make decisions on, I am not very hopeful that the couple dozen rabblerousers we have here on the forums are taken much into consideration, unless we are confirming something the team already knows/is planning to work on.

I think this is my favourite quote to come from this site

And when clappy wrote on twitter 80% wanted custom build back but did we get it 🤷🏻‍♂️

A bit unreasonable to think that would make it into this year's game even if they were doing it based on the poll... dontcha think?

You asked what people expect because you didnt like that people were complaining that it seems like a patch, so people tell you about things that have been major complaints on this site and others for years, EA was told people wanted them in their surveys, but then its unreasonable to think it makes into the game this year?

So people arent allowed to complain its just a patch. People aren't allowed to say they need to clean up the broken aspects of the game that have been there for years. People aren't allowed to ask where the improvements are like custom classes even though that's been a major complaint since they were removed years ago. Please let us know what were allowed to complain about Mr. Lion.

    1) I didn't ask anyone anything except why they were asking ME to point to what was fixed when I was merely pointing out that OTHER people (i.e. not me) were saying NHL21 was a patch. That said, I may have a list of things once I have played it enough.

    2) Nor is it true that I "didn't like that people were complaining that it seems like a patch".

I was simply amused by the "damned if they do/damned if they don't" dilemma EA is in with it's fans.

People complained on here that they were adding all this stupid stuff into the game like clown gear and outdoor rinks (which I am not a big fan of either btw). Changes no one asked for and many, many people said they would be better off to stop adding dumb stuff to the game and that they would just be happy if EA fixed the broken stuff.

Well... when they attempt to to do that, people complain that it's "just a patch". So it seems no one can really agree on WHAT they want... so is it small wonder they ignore poll results?

Regarding which: While people here have been clamoring for it, the poll was the first "hard data" I am aware of that EA had regarding bringing back the card system. The context of the discussion was "they saw the poll, why isnt this in NHL21??" I was pointing out merely THAT was an an impossibly short length of time to get that change - even if they chose to make it - into this year's game. In any case, they already stated on here that the sample size was too small (face palm).

I am not saying I agree with any of it - I am not even taking a side really, but how can one not see the irony of the conflicting cries of:

"stop adding new stuff we hate" vs " the series is stale"
"just fix the bugs !!! " vs "NHL 21 is a patch"

Again, complain about whatever you want but I am certainly going to comment on any irony that might arise from such discussions. #devilsadvocate

It just struck me funny. -shrugs-

    3) You can call me "Ice". Mr Lion is my Dad.

PS: I am not the enemy here. Do you think I wanted the flippin michigan goal in the game instead of them fixing DSS etc. or a dozen other horrible things in the game?

  • Even if the game was balanced, there will be far too many complaints from the pre-teens and YouTubers that anything positive in terms of balance between offense n defense will be nullified with updates and patches to appease the casuals and bad influencers.

In all honesty, this year's iteration isn't even a concern as next year's on the new gen consoles will surely incite quite the debate.

Gameplay needs to be the primary focus and once that has been achieved, all the gimmicks, cosmetic add-ons and circus acts could be added in.
  •
NHL 21 will be the year that killed EASHL. Mark my words. All these new stupid animations for the offense, good luck thinking anybody that values their sanity will want to play defense and/or goalie. 6s will be a thing of the past.

So on top of the L2/LT exploit, defenders have had to deal with, players banking passes to themselves, flipping pucks up to themselves, dropping pucks n picking them up along with the new ridiculous lacrosse goal that looks like his stick above the crossbar anyways n wouldn't count in the real world. I guarantee these new animations will draw nothing but interference penalties non-stop.

Has EA lost their minds during the quarantine to even fathom this will be fun? I understand people have to work from home under these crazy circumstances but EA can't and has not made a competent hockey games in ages with every tool available to them at their work facility. Who thinks this year's iteration is going to be acceptable when they are developing the game from their homes?

I can proudly say, I will not spend a single cent on this game, won't even play it when it becomes free a month after release because it's gonna be a horror show. I would rather spend the time and create all the new players manually in a 25 year franchise mode, set the settings completely opposite to EAs default settings and play NHL 20 for the next 5 years.

It's becoming a real joke and I have read these forums since PS3 days. Year after year there's a ton of posts about how the offense is overpowered, how there's no balance between offense n defense, etc, etc, etc. Nothing has ever been done. In fact the reverse is what happens. Then you get these people on here who talk about skill gap and all that other nonsense n try to justify and brainwash everyone.

Don't worry, I've copied n pasted this and will be taking screenshots periodically for all the censors out there that like to silence people and don't allow people to share their thoughts n opinions.
Well said! I couldn’t agree more, nor could my 4 other friends who aren’t wasting their money on this insanity. I’m over the same things each year frustrating me to no end, just to have new goals thrown in our faces instead of making actual changes. Maybe stop only focusing on scoring more, and make a good balance by including new defensive moves and goalie improvements. I suppose that would take to much time and effort. Playing defense is a nightmare in NHL20 with the many exploits and aren’t being addressed, and goalies are still letting the same dumb goals in. I can’t play anymore games where I’m doing everything right only to lose because my goalie is 50% from letting in goals that would send him down two minor leagues. I don’t care you’ve had to work on the game from home, that doesn’t justify charging full price for a product you only put half the effort into.
  • I like the changes this game feels like a patch and they add stuff that they say is new like banners that was in 2014 lets hope on be a pro still think this game its the best you can play defence were they can not backhand forehand through your legs still need som fixing with forehand and backhand glide and some more agility to bigger players and lowerd for speedy

In regards to 1, you literally said ea fixed stuff and people complained it was just a patch.

I don't think you meant to imply what you implied but it really wasn't an illogical response for people to ask what fixes you were referring to. It would be like me saying "some kool-aid flavors are great" and then getting defensive when people ask which flavors are great.

Fair point. I understand that assumptive leap.

So to be clearer, I was simply working from a position that assumed if people were claiming "it's a patch" that indeed, they perceived some things were fixed.

    Does that make more sense?

@renamed57635 you nailed it. i don’t understand why they don’t have two separate divisions of play online. arcade/casual or full sim. the children can have their fortnite version of the game and we can battle out 2-1 games. i feel like this is a step toward making everyone happy.

They can't have 2 divisions anymore. Nobody likes real hockey...or so I'm told
