Why is it that we can rout teams with the same, even better 1050+ CR than us with an amazing record (750ish-150ish), but the most trouble for us this year has come from teams with negative records and around the 400-600 CR mark.

One of the few times we scored a 2v1 goal. The team was solid, but our passing was on point. Our goalie was making great saves and our AI D-man actually did work.

Then we play lower tiered teams and our goalie, when it looks like he's going to make the save, he forgets he's playing against a lower tiered team and needs to let this one go in. Meanwhile, we're back to shooting on spiderman on the other end. "I've got this glove save! Oh crap, I really am going to save this, better pull my hand back."

The 'ol cross crease shot goal. Why is this so hard for the goalie to handle? No one is in front of him and he can see it the whole way from the circle. NHL goalies react quicker than this to a puck that's a foot away. Love how he brings the stick arm up like he's 80 years old. I also love how our AI D just backs away. Our AI D rarely, if ever, pressures the puck carrier on these and I usually have to do it myself coming across.

Oh boy. Slap shot from the point. The puck is going HIGH and WIDE. He sees it all the way. He just needs to let it pass. Nope. Let try and make this ridiculous save for no reason and put it in my own net.

TL;DR: Why do the goalies play like absolute trash when playing teams in the 500 range, but not when playing teams in our own 1000+ range? Where is the consistency?

Replies

  • Honestly, it's your own fault for letting them take a shot. (Joke)

I wish I could block all the shots, Dipsy.

    Offensive D-man fails. :(

This should NEVER be a goal. Clear LOS all the way in, no screen, no tip - well except off the shaft of his own stick (facepalm) - this is atrocious
    Dad. Gamer. Rocker. Geek.
  • LOL. We can post 1,000 videos. It matters not. Unless you are a Yes-man streamer, what we think means nothing. "You want total sim and not everyone wants that!!!!!!". It's not even true. We want consistency and, more importantly, FUN!
  • this should never be a goal. you can see this goal at EA sport hockey only. it is a fact EA devs likes loves cheese goals.

it's understandable the more you're at the computer and less on the ice, you want to score easier. if the game is too difficult for blind and disabled players, you must ensure that the goalkeeper easily gets the goals from the blue. this is exactly where the disabled and blind can always go.
  • LMAO. Man yesterday was a gong show. Lost 4 in a row to low ranked players, yet handedly beat two top 100's in versus. Pre-sales going slow for NHL 21 I assume...
  • Some nights ago, I played a versus game and I always manage my own strategies a certain way. When I started playing, I just knew immediately I was going to lose the game. All the old problems like skate in the mud feeling, bouncing off players after initiating a hit, passes going all over the place, shots going wide, my goalie playing at high school level....Somehow my guys forgot how to play from the beginning of the game.

So after I lose the game, I proceed to start another game but before I did, I checked my strategies and it changed ALL the strategy bars identically in all four lines. It's almost like the game modified my strategies without me knowing about it.

The swings in this game are just too obvious to ignore.

I watch 70 overall players catch my 99 overall cards regurlarly. Ea says its stamina and the line you skate in but when its the first shift of the game and im skating straight down the boards 10 feet behind the defenseman only to watch him pivot AND catch up to me, i call ****. They will deny deny deny but card rating are absolutely manipulated server side to level the playing field. They're right, theres no tilt...cus they just did something ELSE shady to manipulate the game so they can say "were not lying guys" and still have a clear conscience.

Also i think what people consider tilt is actually just years of half baked, unfinished ideas thrown together til they start working against eachother. When you play the game like hockey is supposed to be played and get robbed by their goalie all game but they come and shoot muffins and score 2 on 8 shots, people are gonna feel cheated. Its not scripted, its just poorly made to begin with.

The old EA games had momentum bars displayed while you play. EA claims they are not doing this anymore. Also there's a paper-trail for a system connected to EA called DDA (Difficulty dynamic adjustment). https://www.reddit.com/r/FIFA/comments/7hgg20/what_is_this_dda_everyone_is_talking_about/

It's a nasty can of worms and very debated but it explains why this game plays the way it does. If you read into the patent, you will see this as one of the parameters that can be adjusted "adjusting the responsiveness of controls."

Oh im well aware. I been playing hockey games since blades of steel lmao. I remember the momentum, and read all about dda. Thing is they claimed they rebuilt the game from scratch since then and weve already established that was a lie based on bugs from last gen remaining. That raises the question, what else is still working from legacy code that we dont know about? I mean there are some very telltale signs that they have lost complete control over their own game so who knows what else they tried to hide in the code that could still be working when they think its not. They think we're too dumb to see it, and then just silence anyone who calls them out in hopes they won't have attention drawn to it.

Yea I remember when Rammer said this. Like you said, the problem with that statement is that I've experienced "identical" bugs in EA NHL long before and after their statement about rebuilding the game. I'm pretty convinced that EA's management is the main source to why this franchise might be dying. The developers are just following orders. Any promise or claim they make is taken with a grain of salt in my book.

You nailed it. The guys we talk to on here are just doing their jobs and are paid to keep certain info from the public. Its not their fault. I get that, but it still doesnt make it right.

They also deny that 69 ovr can catch a 99 ovr on a clean breakaway but yet we see it with our own eyes. They act like were idiots that cant see and think for ourselves.

Can you get some video of this happening? I've asked for it in the past, but haven't gotten one that clearly shows it.

Actually i do think i have video. Ill go through my clips but, its clear as day when its happening. Ill literally feel like my guy slows down and isnt responding to by button presses until he catches me.

It happens to me as well ,not all the time only when playing lower rated teams ,I just come to except it

And they want videos...i have videos but i just looked and realized that the video doesnt show the players rating so its pointless. Theyll just say "we cant tell thats a 69 ovr because its during gameplay".
