This patch felt quite ok to me.. Puck bouncing after hitting players much more realistic way now. Also big thumbs up is those highlight reels on pause menu after periods and after the game three stars with video highlight moments. This is very much addition which i personally wanted to be in this game.
On Be a pro you cannot still see injuries and transactions list.. It's very important to update that.
Overall very good! A lot less mindless rushes up and down. Played two ovp and there are still horrible clipping issues and poor def awareness. Here’s couple examples: https://youtu.be/eTCZbENHWb8
Don't even bother wasting time uploading vids bro, just hope 2K makes NHL game for next gen. The puck going through pads been a glitch since NHL 15, these guys don't know how to fix it. Or how forwards can come up close and shoot where their stick goes through ur entire body and equipment.
They also been saying for the longest time that human goalie stances are cosmetic only, and now on the patch says "fixed save animations for various goalie stances". If stances are cosmetic only why does it have to be fixed for only "various stances" instead of it being universal? These guys don't even know what half the stuff in their own game even do.
I absolutely love it, despite being robbed. I can't beleive my own ignorance, to be honest. I kept arguing about defensive tools, not buffing passive interceptions and never once considered that the goalies needed a buff. Good on EA!
Some have been arguing for this for the longest time but EA will always cater to making goal scoring easiest way possible to keep guys with no skills happy. Idk about 1v1 modes but human goalies still don't have limbs in 6s. They don't make reaching saves anymore.
Played a single game of play now. Superstar, 5 min periods, full sim:
Pros:
1. The CPU, for the first time since the steam engine was invented, beat me without "CPU cheating".
2. Was able to vary my attacks.
3. Goalies were better on one-timers.
4. Had NO problem intercepting passes.
5. A few cool pick-up animations were made better.
6. Seemed much more fluid.
7. Definitely better than 20.
8. (edit) Puck seems more lively.
Cons:
1. Special teams movement still needs work, although it may have been improved.
2. The flip dump needs work. You should only "Murphy dump" when you hold the button really long. High off the glass should be a go-to play if you are having a hard time breaking out under pressure.
3. PLEASE MAKE FACING THE MIDDLE WHILE STOPPING A TOGGLEABLE OPTION (I know I mentioned this to @EA_Aljo , but I cannot stress enough how annoying it is when your guys auto-face).
4. The AI has the ability, still, to make crazy no look passes under duress. It seems like they know how to manipulate the physics. I guess that is a difficulty thing but it would be nice if they abided by the same rules I do.
Overall, NHL 21 has been an improvement. This is my opinion, obviously, but I can back that up by saying after playing 1 or 2 games in a sitting I usually want more. In 20, I couldn't even stomach this game after a single period. Keep up the good work.
Default settings? No change in sliders? I’m trying to find the right settings to finally start my franchise mode. You’re not having issues with being able to hustle past AI defensemen with ease??

Full sim, default. I mean, yeah, you can burn by guys but it is not as frequent as it was. Sliders can help with that though. When I get down to it and start a franchise there is no way I will use their settings. I adjust skating a good bit because I hate the speed of this game. I play a slower, realer style

absolutely agree with number 2.
the problem with "human" dump puck... there is no mechanic for any quick dump at the offensive zone.
"CPU" can do a quick dump everywhere.
we need R1 button do more balanced for this situation. the same as puck physics at this situation still not look as real. especially if CPU is doing dump from defense zone. it looks still more as script without any fluid (real) movement under press.

Encouraging to hear you feel it's an improvement.
Going to sticky this post to gather more thoughts for the NHL team. Just logged into the forums from the weekend, so hoping to see this conversation still going after you all have had some more game time in over the weekend to get a better idea of results from the patch.
Why is it that people get 'stuck' after a while when they put full blast over a time and then if they suddenly gets forced to attack on their right side of the rink they can't move forward anymore on that side .. Instead they glide into the board with the puck as far out as they can on their backhand and then they pass the puck backwards...?
What is the reason for this to happen? Does it has to do with them never taking a new grip on the controller or what is it? Always the right side it happen on too.
Anyone know what I mean..?
* might be that they think that they are going to get hit if they keep going on that side. So instead of just try to go for it, they try to turn back and move up on their left side instead.
Is it that bad, to just take a hit...? It's hockey... 🤔
It may be more about how you are reading the notes and grouping the changes together.
These are three unique notes from the patch notes:
- Animation improvements to various goalie stances
- Added glove down butterfly proximity for old school goalie stances
- Various goalie save animation improvements
The improvements to the goalie stances were cases when a goalies stance itself could be more authentic. It didn't have anything to do with saves. For example a goalie that doesn't hold their glove hand as high as we had it or a goalie that overlaps their leg pads a bit more or less, etc.
The glove down position was an update to make sure the old school stances look more authentic as the upper body layer for tracking the puck position was build around the more modern high glove so the new update supports the various stances better.
The save animation improvements are separate from the updates for stances and the goalies still blend out of their custom stance/postures ahead of the save frames leaving the custom stances cosmetic as far as actual save ability is concerned when it comes to arriving on time but to add to that, we have also always said that the puck hitting you incidentally as you are blending to a save or not reacting in time could vary with the different stances as you are moving your limb from one space or another to the save location and the puck could physically hit you on your way there or even when late to arrive to a save frame on time.

So that just means how the goalie stands nothing to do with the save animations?
Also why did you guys nerf reaching saves so much? Especially to the glove side. Previous year if you read a play a slide across in time when they shoot off cross crease or cross ice one timer to top corner glove side and if you react and butterfly slide across in time goalie goes into this splits windmill save animation where he makes a really nice windmill save and sits on his **** after. I played close to 150 6s game so far and yet to see the goalie make that save...never seen opposing goalie make that save either. I seen that animation trigger here and there but 0 times he actually grabs the puck, it triggers way too late after the puck is already in the net. Either you guys nerfed goalies reaction time bigtime or increased shot power/accuracy big time while keeping goalie the exact same.
Has anyone mentioned that this patch broke line changes and substitution in franchise mode? If you have an injured player when you try to substitute a scratched player the game gets stuck and nothing you can do can get you out of the screen. Lost 2 games now because of it not saving and getting stuck. I’ve tried workarounds and they kinda work but make the game really frustrating.
I feel that the game is so close to being thaaat good, at least for me and the way I prefer to play. Some short moments here and there, in the game, really - is- hockey, when everything match up perfectly. But there still some missing pieces.
What disturbe me the most, but its so much better now then earlier, is how people can glide/turn away from the heat and still somehow come away with it.
People still jam the gas without control, they won't give up that tactic easy, but I feel it's getting tougher and tougher to do so. Im so excited for that day when it will be all about hockey.

The developers are aware. This was addressed on Twitter several days ago but for some reason we’re still waiting for a fix.

- Improved some Defensive AI gap control cases while defending against the rush
No. Nothing has improved. It's worse. It's hard enough playing with an AI D-man. It's even harder when it constantly gets beat on the rush, but not only that, they get beat on the inside cut as well (Thanks to the pivot nerf). It's just this every, single, time. I'd rather not even have the AI on the ice, without it in the way, I could probably defend the 2 v 1 better, because it's just basically a 2 v 1 every time
This discussion has a lot of eyes on it so we're going to continue having it pinned at the top of our boards to gather general feedback on the game post Patch 1.2.

I mentioned it on the day the patch came out last week in this post: https://forums.ea.com/en/nhl/discussion/265686/franchise-mode-new-issue-in-patch-v-1-20#latest
Hopefully they can get a quick fix out.
I'm guessing no, just because it is an emergency patch that fixes a major issue with the game
I've been arguing for goalie fixes since October.
