Is there going to be any performance boost with NHL 21 on ps5/xbox?

  • Menus definitely are not "lightning fast" haha.

Less than 1 minute 20 seconds to get from loading the game to the club dressing room. I think it was way slower on my One X. :)

Can we get an AMA with the person responsible for choosing to use Amazon servers?

Hehe what would your question be? 🙄

    1. What factors were considered when you made the decision to use Amazon servers?

    2. Are you aware that a large portion of the NHL 21 community has such difficulty connecting to those servers that the game is virtually unplayable?

    3. Is the interface (or menu screens) even compatible with the servers?

    4. Is EA contractually obligated to use Amazon servers? If so, for how long?

    5. Does Amazon plan to improve the quality of their servers?

There's so much to ask. The crippled online experience is the single biggest thing holding this franchise back IMO.

    Didn't need a PS5 to have faster menus on NHL 14 :)

Where did this idea that the Amazon servers are to blame and the Azure servers are any better? Unless by that they mean Azure has more datacenters with local presense and the idea is that this game is so poorly optimized that it needs to run as close as possible to you. Then that would be true, Azure does have more regions available.

Of course then you have the problem of splitting an already small game up a lot more. Have fun trying to find a club game in Dallas, outside of peak hours, if you only play in your region. Same 5-6 teams playing each other every time.

Anyway, its not the servers or the network, its the software. its been proven time and time again.

Depending on what you were on before and what you are on now, everything should be a little bit faster. Better system architecture, much better CPU, faster RAM. But the only significant increase should come from anything that reads from or writes to local storage. Hard to say what aspects of the game that is. Maybe the different menus are actually loading from disk every time. Maybe that is why they are so god awful slow. If thats the case then definitely should be quicker.

Of course that won't solve the fact that you have to jump through 20 menus pages to do something you should have been able to do in 1 or 2.
