Also noticed that sometimes, if i enter the offensive zone in a breakout on a wing, skating just "dies" and the d-men just catches up to you. Anyone else enjoying this new "feature"?

Can you get some video of this happening?

I don't want to sound like a jerk but why would we send videos? Isn't EA Sports supposed to be actively playing their own game?

I have a 90 ovr team and I could caught by silver players. It's obvious the difference between rookie to superstar. The computer's sliders are cranked to play like 99 ovr.

I am sure we all enjoy a challenge until it's no longer actually on a fair playing field when your cards are supposed to make a difference.

This isn't even a new thing. These kinds of problems have been talked about for years.

Yes. We do play our own game. I play on Superstar myself and it's quite a challenge. It's supposed to be. It's also been said many times that there is nothing built into the game that forces lower rated teams to win. They are taking advantage of the options you're giving them. They're very good at finding open lanes for shots and passes. So, if you play them aggressively, you're going to leave open lanes for them to take advantage of.

Video whos us the conditions under which you're complaining about. This is pretty crucial when looking for issues. There are many instances where someone says something shouldn't be happening, but after reviewing the game is behaving as it should. There are also many times we've been alerted to bugs based on videos submitted.

I´m playing SB right now. First I played a few games with an 82 OVR team and I won all the games easily with full points on superstar level. The game felt pretty ok besides that the CPU is allowed to magical things. Then i wanted to play with my best lineup so i switched to my 91 OVR team and immediately, big surprise my controller started to feel like it´s broken. I try to pass, the pass doesn´t register so i try again and the puck goes away but as soon as the receiver gets the puck he passes it in the same way the puck was traveling to no one. It´s the double input from the failed pass. How the hell am i supposed to record that and show it to you. We are time after time giving you examples of situations that feels wrong in the game and you are just going on about "there is nothing implemented to force lower rated teams to win", Most of us that complain does not even claim that lower rated team is unbeatable or is forced to win. I have not lost one SB game if i include replays, but still a 76 rated team can be 10 times harder to beat than a 89 rated team and we ask why? It happens a lot.

Also, yes superstar should be tough. I have no problem if it were tougher than it is right now as long as it is consistent and equal for all players. But right now it´s wildly inconsistent and it´s tough because the CPU can do unnatural stuff, my players are nerfed, the controller gets artificial lag, the physics is tilted toward the CPU. It´s sickening that the game gets worse when you use better players.

same feeling about broken controller sometimes. my player is also making pass without me pressing any button lol. I'm a SB high level 1and i would say the CPU sometimes is superman but i can manage how to change the game. Last night i was behind 5-1 in the middle of the game. The CPU was playing like two level above superstar lol. I asked for a timeout, change my strategies(it does matter in this game). AFter that the CPU was playing like at pro level. the final result 8-5 for me. i was proud but also mad cause CPU was not supposed to play like that. Since the beta game CPU has never been that good, its all changed after the 1.3 update, yeah something repair with the patch and it broke the game somewhere else

How many people have to say the same thing before EA acknowledges and more importantly fixes these issue. You say you play SB on SS, you don't see this "God Mode" AI? Your AI doesn't miss passes or skate off sides or change up leaving the opposing AI to skate in all alone? This is not about winning or losing a SB game , its about playing and enjoying the games. Right now, SB's has ZERO enjoyment for me.

Of course, I see how well they play. It's Superstar so it's going to be a lot more challenging. The AI are pretty amazing. I'm not debating that. SB games weren't made to be more difficult in the latest update. My AI are rarely going offside, but that could also have to do with how I like to break into my offensive zone. I also don't have players making too many unexpected line changes because I cover the puck with my goalie instead of passing it back out in most cases so I can get fresher legs on the ice. Then, I know they at least will make it down to my offensive zone so I don't have to worry so much they'll go for a change when I'm breaking out.

You could try lowering the difficulty. All-Star may be a better fit if Superstar is giving you zero enjoyment.
  • Squad battles is hard on SS but shouldn’t it be? When ever the AI scores on me it’s almost always as a result of me making a bad play. It does get frustrating because there are definitely goals the AI scores that feel pre programmed especially one in the last 15 seconds of the period. In the end if your consistently losing your just need to practice or play more and you will improve.
  • I just asked if the difficulty increased with a new patch because i feel a rather big difference in gameplay which makes SB harder. I agree that superstar should be hard, Heck it can be harder than now as long as it is consistent gameplay and equal for all. In theory, i should have an easier time beating low-rated teams the more time passes and i get a better team but in reality, it is easier to beat all teams when playing with a lower-rated team. So stupid....

Anyway, wanted to relax after a long hard workday and put on an SB game, and 5minutes in i just quit playing NHL and are going to play something else. I just can´t stand wasting 20 minutes of horrific gameplay for absolutely nothing in return. No joy at all, the rewards in this game is so bad it´s laughable. Wasting 20 minutes for coins that won't even get you a base gold player. Sure you can get some packs if you really grind the game like crazy and then you get absolutely nothing usable 99,9% of the time. To get you in top of SB chart you have to play 1,5h every day and 3h on weekends. It´s like 13 hours and you get nothing, it´s mind-boggling that so many do it, myself included. but i had enough.
  • I love playing the “I’ll play my lower rated squad guys because they play better” guys. It’s always an easy win. DDA is a myth but if you believe it I won’t try to talk you out of it. I thought Santa Claus was real for a big chunk of my life as well and quite frankly I’m still suffering the trauma of finding out it was all a lie. It ruined Christmas for me. I agree if your not enjoying it just move on not worth the stress.

It's a myth online, but it certainly feels like it if you have a stacked team and my connection problems, lol.

  • please EA do something. your CPU is much more playing like superman since the last update. its not fun at all and improving players in our team has no effect so why will we spend money in your game?
  • A SB question.. If I don't have time to 'claim rewards' before next week sometime. My SB that I play this week will not just go up in smoke and disappear? You have all the time in the world to collect you rewards ah?
  • I have been playing EA's NHL for roughly 25 years and currently I have an absolutely top end team (Lowest player is +85 ovr and distributor, spark, swarm, howitzer, speedster and light the lamp are activated). In NHL 20 I finished top 100 in SB several times and during the previous weeks of SB in NHL 21 I've been close to top 100 in SB several times. As such, although not being a pro of any kind I have a fair degree of experience and skill in game-play.

However, during the last week the CPU has become incredibly hard to beat on superstar as well as pro level in some games in SB (I only play pro or superstar). I can have like 25-30 shots and 8-12 minutes on attack and CPU can have 8-10 shots and 2-4 minutes on attack and still win. CPU can have absolutely amazing game-openings where they score three goals on three shots etc.

Some of the changes I have noticed is that:
    - my players suddenly loose the puck much easier and sometimes misses more or less open goal opportunities,
    - CPU pass interception has been boosted,
    - number of AI induced off-sides have increased,
    - my AI players positioning for one-timers in the offensive zone has been noticeably worsened,
    - penalties for "stick in-friction" has boosted,
    - my AI defense-men positioning and their attempts to prevent CPU from breaking-out have worsened,
    - CPU shots and positioning have been boosted most markedly,
    - speed differences between top-end players like for example Lafleur and the average 60-80 ovr player has been significantly reduced,
    - Some CPU goalies make absolutely heroic saves on shots that went in easily just last week.

I don't expect anything to be done about this, EA simply seem to either be to narrow-headed to admit that these things have changed or this is all just a big scheme to make us pay more. Or it´s something else. However, what it ever may be it´s real and it´s absolutely killing the joy in playing the game.
  • In addition my 88+ rated players have been regularly missing the empty net during the last 30 seconds of the game ... from as close as the top of the face off circle. And I am not doing slap shots ... Absolute nonsense to ensure the AI does not lose by 4 or the 5 goals.

Can you get some video of the missed shots? Make sure the replay controls are removed so we can see the controller overlay.

There are many people beating AI teams by 5 goals. It's a challenge for me on Superstar. I probably only hit that mark in 20% of my games, but it's certainly not impossible and we've seen reports from others that have no problem with it.

Here is a video detailing exactly what people are referring to:

    Need further proof?

I assume they would, given that's not even the game that's being discussed in this thread.

Oh, and because it shows no proof of anything.

I agree with you 100%. Not sure WHY EA will not address these issues. SB on SS SHOULD be hard, I agree, and for the most part I win all of my SB games on SS BUT...something has changed. 74 rate AI goalies are playing like all world all stars. They make ridiculous saves. My 93 overall rated team is now dealing with the following CONSTANTLY...
    - AI teammates going offsides AT LEAST 5 times a game
    - My players missing passes
    - My players fanning on easy 1 timers
    - My players missing open nets
    - My AI teammates REFUSING to pick up a loose puck
    - My AI teammates ARE Completely BRAIN DEAD
    - MY AI teammates ARE CONSTANTLY skating towards the puck carrier instead of getting to open ice and making themselves available for a pass. THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY, ESPECIALLY in a 3 on 3 situation
    - LINE CHANGES ARE STILL BROKEN. MY GOD, simply go back to NHL20 code for line changes, it wasn't an issue in NHL20.
    - And why even have poke checking in the game when playing SB's, EVERY SINGLE POEK CHECK is recovered either by the player you poked OR a teammate. Nearly 100% of the time.
    - Why won't my player pick up a bouncing puck? They did in NHL20. NOT NOW. The AI opposition picks up every bouncing puck.

MY GOD EA, simply play the game and all of these issue are SOOOO obvious.

And by the way, these issues are not just happening on SS, they are in Pro and All Star as well.

    @EA_Aljo
  • i call it they play higher than there mode difficulty. semi-pro level challenges are playing like superstar lol
