Toxicity

The absolute filth and toxicity of the online community of this game is incomprehensible, and its all been fostered by EA. It's become a 2 dimensional game of spam spam spam the poke check then race down the ice and ONLY force over the cross crease. Then message your opponent to tell them they suck.
I can honestly say that out of all the online games I play (fps, sports, RPG) this game has the absolute most toxic community I've ever seen.
Congrats EA, you've won another award, just not one I'd be happy about.

To gain respect from your opponent, you have to fight fair, and I think there's too many ways to get around that, by playing like a pig, rag the puck, circle back and forth all over the ice, manipulate every possible game mechanics to your own favor.
And the majority knows exactly how to do that, probably even better then how to play 'real hockey' in this game.
And with a gameplay were everyone thinks the opponent cheats, there's no respect to be found.
Best thing that could happen, in every categories, would be a game were your hockey IQ decide to 95% the outcome of the game. A game were true hockey is the only way to go and when you win, your opponent knows you were the better player and when you loose, you know you deserve to loose.
Fair and square without any chances of being a clown and get a way with it.
We could even talk after the game about situations from the game, like 'you remember that "cool stuff' that happen in 2nd period... Great move!", "thanks I was lucky"... And so on. There was a humility I haven’t experience in a long time, I miss that.
But I really do think, for that to come back, there can't be too many ways to 'cheat' your way to victory, people tend to 'hate' that. It gives you the feeling that the win was unfair and it also gives too many "excuses" to why you lost.
Real hockey skill would bring the humility back to life! ❤️
I think this year I've sent one gg message, and it was after a loss because it was a great game of hockey.
Bealive it or not, but I had some guys in this (21's)beta that was playing hockey, but after that I havent seen it.
Almost as I start to wonder if people actually know how to play this game "how you suppose", to get it as much hockey look alike as you can, but I know for a fact, it takes two of you, you cant get it hockey all alone if your opponent dosent want to play that way.
But thoose times were you match up against a 'hockey minded' player, I dont want to say too much, but I start sayin to myself.. 'oooh I like this guy'.. And if I win or loose isn't importen anymore, I just wanna have that 'hockey rhythm' going, and make it last forever.
But this rarely happens, 90% try to use the game on the same way as they always do, and that isn't much of hockey in that.
I hope EA found out a way that both will force everyone to play hockey and at the same time, teach everyone to play hockey.
This toxicity has to stop, and I wont blame 'the game' for everything in that, we all have a share in it, but I think that 'how you can use/play this game and still win, is the biggest problem for alot of people, take that away, and I think the people will follow after/do the rest.
Online gaming is just not worth it. People are awful, they play stupid ways, glitch the game constantly, rag, it’s just awful. Just wish they’d make offline more playable by fixing the speed glitch and making the AI a lot better than they currently are. They prioritize their interpretation of “position” way too much. It’s not human and it’s not even close to believable. Humans make mistakes usually be over-committing to the object of the sport, not because they over-committed to an arbitrary spot on the playing surface they believe needs covering.
i know how you feel,i was bad last year without speed meta. i like this year cause i can score more goal vs cpu. i like the squad battle. i was div 8 last year from july to the end and this year i'm div 5
Oh don't worry, it can still sometimes feel like you're getting punched in the face by the AI in offline mode with the right sliders.
In some of our other EA games, they have messages that can be sent out at the end of games from a list so you don't have to go out of your way into Xbox/PlayStation chat settings to send it. I hope we continue to see those options in the future.
GG
Great game, rematch?
We should play again sometime. Friend request?
You're really good
Just some examples that would be nice to send to each other.
Yes yes yes!
I have asked for an easy way after the game to just give a signal, that it was a good game. Like a Pat on the shoulder.
Even tough we my hate each other when we play, we should be able to thank each other after the game. Would probebly spare us alot of hate.
And to send messages through the usally way, takes to long time, too many steps.
It's all well and good that EA is implementing these quick-chat options in other titles with a hope it comes to NHL, but what is being done about players who rag the puck?
You will be able choose not to tell them GG.
That’d be the most anti-toxic, anti-rag deterrent they’ve attempted ever tbh...lol
No mather how good you are, you shouldnt be able to keep the puck in your own zone.
I must say I haven’t face successful raggers this much in 21, all though they do there best.
But it's a hard problem, especially if the players good and are using their own zone and bigger part of neutral zone.
Sometimes I have to pressure them forward to my own zone, by guarding the area behind he's last D.
But a good player will always be good at killing time, by having the puck to themselves. But the sad part, they don't even try to score...
Not tell them GG?
