<winces> I think I speak for everyone when I say we don't want to hear what "makes you hot" LOL

I will keep that in mind...😜
  • So there's no official statement from EA itself that this frostbite is going to happen...?

It's "just" this misstake from the engineer we have to rely on..all tough it seems like pretty strong source.

Is it August it usally comes out.. "only 4-5" months left.

Im already excited.. I wonder how I will feel after the first trailer. 😱

There is typically zero news about the next game until at least the NHL awards (June).

I peeked just today and saw they are *still* trying to fill the NHL Lead UI Designer position and quite a number of various Frostbite positions so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much for this year...
  • Cool reading.

"The company can feel a bit too big at times, and you might feel like you're not doing meaningful work. But that's like every other big company"

"Sometimes things can be messy as it's developing games can be hard. So sometimes, you'll have to hack some things together to make it work. Then a gamble on whether that technical debt will be addressed."

    Aint easy being devs..

I will hold my thumbs for 'Beginner's luck'...😏✊

EA doesn't say a thing until the NHL awards then its an arbitrary system of dishing out little tidbits on a very slow schedule.

For the most part they learned to not show their hand until almost release time.

... And thats the best strategy to get us the most excited?

Cause if we got to 'see/read' more news earlier, there's a risk we would get 'tired' before the realese?

Im just 'thirsty' for news, especially this year, when it feels like their can be some 'bang for the bucks'.

And on the flip side sometimes its because half the game won't be there and they don't want you to find out until after you receive your pre-order. Ok once, but that was shady marketing at best.

I'd rather get more info quicker personally but I understand some of it they are still waiting to see if they even have time to complete it before release.

Yeah me too. But im that guy that will buy the game no mather what circumstances.

You could say im an easy target that way hehe..

And it would definitely ease some pressure if I just could get a 'rush' now and then... Instead of waiting.. And wait some more.. That stuff is killing me...

  • they clearly lack the desire to produce high quality sports titles

    UFC is a superb game.

FIFA/Madden/NHL are high quality products. IMO - any game that gets daily play from thousands of users is high quality.

I think it's unfair to say that the development team doesn't care about putting out a high quality product.

Didn’t say the dev team, said the suits. The suits dictate the yearly release model and “high quality” is very subjective but I will say that both games are objectively NOT simulation games. Maybe they’re fun (well idk about fun either), “high quality” arcade games, but they are not high quality simulations.

I disagree. NHL is a high quality simulation. It's not perfect, but there isn't a single sports game that is.

MLB the Show is a high quality simulation that isn’t perfect. People complain about 90-man vs 115-man rosters, generated prospects not looking right in franchise mode, and some injury replacement/rotation confusing the CPU has. Those are nitpicking items.

NHL has defensemen literally stand still and let offensive players blow by for open passes. They can’t cycle to save their life, they prioritize random spots on the ice over the puck, and scoring revolves around simple one-timers and gliding at specific angles to pick a corner because shooting isn’t realistic.

We are FAR away from getting to The Show levels of nitpicking about generated prospect attire and minor personnel management items in NHL. It can be fun at times, sure. It’s not a simulation though.

So the question then becomes, why is EA so far behind in that department? The nitpicking? Players in this game should be wearing the gear they endorse, which someone estimated to be only about 20% accurate. Or player likeness?. Or simple things like wordmark jerseys? That's all my question is, not to start something
  • I think they been busy trying to hack the L2 abuse with alot of other defects in the gameplay section.

But I dont know if thats an excuse. Something like wearing the right gear dosent sound - that - hard to do, but I dont know.

player likeness is awful, feels like it's still the 90's. But im pretty sure that the frostbite engine will give us more buzz around this type of things.

It can only be better, in some departments.

I think the main reason is that they believe real hockey has the physics of bubble hockey players on an air hockey table for whatever reason. That combined the AI not being able to do even the most routine of plays consistently means the actual “hockey” displayed by this game is pretty fundamentally flawed.

The show has fundamental baseball down. People nitpick at gear all of the time and team management logic, but at least the game plays a good game of virtual baseball.

One year they showed gameplay and all the goodies like 3 months before the game was even coming out and people were begging for more information or something. I mean look at movies how they pretty much start trailers a month or so away from release. It's the right amount of time to get their interest and hopefully keep it.

Yeah thats the right way to go no mather how good it would feel to get some news earlier.

This year feels more special, cause of 'all the changes', therfore im even more eager.

This 1 each year realeses is lining up pretty frequent too.. Not so much time for the developers to play with.

I wonder how long time it takes to get a game ready for realese. But that might be diffrent from time to time...? I guess.

  • I really want to see NHL come back to the PC. It has been since NHL 09 since EA made a NHL game for the PC and Frostbite would be a huge jump for the NHL franchise to come back just like Madden did. The last Madden PC game was Madden 08 and I love playing Madden 20 on my PC. PLEASE EA BRING NHL BACK TO THE PC! I would rather spend my money on my PC than any console. I have PS4 only because I love playing sports games and now that Madden is back on the PC there is only 1 game (NHL) that I would play on a console and I can't justify spending 400 bucks on a PS5 just to play 1 game.

If EA wants to bring NHL to PC, they absolutely must leave it out of cross play. Reason for this is look at a cross play CoD...within two weeks Warzone was INFESTED with hackers and cheaters. I'm all for it on PC as long as cross play stays between consoles.

For the most part Madden on PC isn't infested with hackers n cheaters. NHL doesn't really have huge ways to cheat.

Ya it strikes me that NHL would be one of the "safest" games for crossplay tbh. I'd take it if it meant a larger player base.
