Put my ping to 20 max, and I should only be playing games on the closest server which gives me 33-40 ping. But now I'm seeing games with 45 to 60 ping against players that obviously aren't in my region or something else is going on. It's not my connection because the issue is only against specific players.
I'm still getting half my games on the expected ping, but not being able to back out against people where it's beyond ideal or the connection looks like a heart rate monitor of someone having a cardiac arrest (again its not my connection it's just happening against specific players) is making me not want to even play online.
If I pick 20, but some guy in Quebec decides to play anyone so has his cranked up, will I still match him because I'm now within his search scope? I feel like that's what's happening. Why does my connection line look flat in every game except against those specific players? Servers do not stop a potato connection from ruining the experience. No different than playing drop ins where some random Australian or euro is in the game and it lags like crazy until they leave. Then it's fine(I've played in games like that).
I don't think the change actually fixed anything tbh. Seems to be worse outside of the first game I played immediately after the update.
*don't bother with the basic tech support of did you try this or that. That isn't the problem.
The max ping feature doesn't specifically look for a player with a ping that meets those requirements. If you pick 20, it's going to look for a server that is 20 or less but will connect you to the closest one if it doesn't find one that meets the limit you've set.
What is the of it point then? Isn't it doing that without that new "feature" or am I missing something?
Imo it should search for server that is under the ping limit I've set and if such can't be found, it just says "sorry bro, can't find what you asked, wanna raise your limit or keep searching?". But that's just my opinion though.
Btw is there any chance there would be smthn like that added to online VS in future?
It would be good if there was the option to enable being asked if you want to raise the limit. Hopefully, something like that gets added in the future. As for this coming to Online Versus, we'll have to wait and see if that happens. I don't have any news on it.

I think Online Versus would benefit of it even more than HUT, considering there are usually two (if in Europe) or three (if in NA) options (servers) to connect in HUT but in OVS whole wide world (www? 😏) is open for you.

I am hardwired, port forwarding set up, have a 1Gbps download / 300Mbps upload. Clear the cache. Hard reset. Uninstalled games and have 250GB of free space. Xbox one x with DVR disabled. No downloads or uploads running in background. No other apps open.
This is not acceptable.

Ever since this came out I have had my max ping set at 30 ms, everything was fine my ping was never over 30 and usually around 18-25 ms and always smooth game play. For some reason though since last Friday my pings have been upwards of 60-70 ms with choppy game play, I checked my settings and it still set to max 30 ms. What has happened?

Out of curiosity, go into WoC and the club search. See what it says for your recommended region, if it’s not what it should be, I’d suggest contacting your ISP and ask them to check your routing to a server in the same region. You can try rebooting all of your hardware as well.
Does anyone get booted out of the EA servers in the middle of a Rivals game only when you are winning? Everything good in squad battles, everything good if I am behind in Rivals but if I get up a couple goals the opponent pauses and all of a sudden, I'm kicked out.

That already happened to me, and then you lost the game :-( And as an answer to the question: I should check my connection !! And it is wired and has no failures! I think they have a trick, that has happened to me 3 - 4 times, you are in the front, you can't actually lose anymore, and then this :-(
