I mean for a time the mods did endulge as well...not just us peasants. Speaking of the trailer, when's it coming @EA_Blueberry ?

Sometime between today and the release date. ;)

    Save yourself 10 mins:
-Hes expecting news late august early september from EA.
-He doesnt think NHL will be cross platform or cross generation of console (IE: xbox 1 games not linking to whatever the name of the new xbox console is.
-He doesnt think frostbite is coming because devs in fifa and madden hate developing on it so it would be harder to pull off for the NHL team basically to slap it on old and new gen console version of the game. It would be nicer graphics but a pain to work with. I think many have already voiced that frostbite may be more of a curse than a blessing if it does come.

Basically, expect a $80 patch again this year. If you re lucky and upgrade console midways, maybe $160! :)
For that price you'll get about 6 other teams to play against all year (cross console incompatibility will basically kill the online population big time....especially considering its already half dead)

Not much news but not much hope either.

When I was a moderator a decade plus ago, I was always chatting and talking to the members in a fun and informative manner. It was fun having that kind of interaction. Unfortunately, most of the others weren't like me which kinda sucked because they all had good personalities but limited themselves in the public eye. Perhaps I was naive, but I think having a good personality and some character was a great way to interact with the members in a realistic way.

I still do that to this day but I don't have the stress of removing naughty crap or dealing with problems like I use to so it's been more fun being a regular forum member. But I certainly respect what these guys have to go through on a daily basis.

Yeah I like listening to him - feels down to earth and truthful.

Biggest question - what engine, and how 'perfect' that engine will match up with hockey as a sport - If we're lucky - it be a homerun.

Also the same about the cover - it's fun beacuse people seem to make a big deal out of it, but frankly never been that huge for me - kiril kaprizov, I hope.

*cool room - with all the 'dolls' (?) and ofc Cole Caufield on the wall.

I'm going to sound so bad for saying this, but I found his voice to be so annoying it was hard to listen to. Though I think he made some good points.

Hehe Yup shame on you - but yeah - it's a special voice - but thats something we can't choose in life - and I have definitely heard worst in my days.

And yeah - he seem to know what he's talking about, so I rather listen to him, then not... 😜

I think a combination is best - alot of people takes 'what we do' pretty serious, but a good sense of humor is never bad.

But this community is almost the same principle as the society is - the EA people that runs the show and we are the 'hard-workers' that try to do the best to 'obey the law' without going out of line.

But humor is a good way to erase the boundaries between diffrent 'groups' - but also difficult - whats fun for you may not be fun for everyone - it's a tricky line..

It's 100% there won't be cross-gen or cross-platform this year. Now I'm sure the expensive bundle of NHL will sell both versions of the game for those on the next-gen consoles so they can play with their friends who couldn't get a new console. Pretty much it's the same for FIFA, Madden, NBA2K all doing this.

So no cross-gen and no cross-crease to 22....

beacuse nhl probebly is the community that would benefit most by making the cross-play possible - that should be a good reason to push extra hard for that process to come real.

I dont think NHL need to be last with every singel thing - If they decides that one thing is much more importen then another.

But I take gameplay and presentation any day - before cross-play, all though I will be glad the day crossplay happen - but mainly for thoose with alot of buddies through the cross consoles 'landscape'.

notice you asked what basic hockey things still arent in the game in the now closed thread. So ill answer it here:
    1.tip in dump ins
    2. Staple hitting
    3. reach around stick checking
    4. kick saves(sticking your leg out to the side is not a kick save)(pretty sure it isnt in)
    5. lateral crossover skating
    6. chip ins (saucering is either too strong or too weak for a chip in)
    7. you can use your feet to receive a pass why cant you use them for interceptions?

    Sounds good.

But what do you mean by staple hitting? - never heard that expression

But yeah - some addition with some cool new animations - could probebly make a pretty big, notable diffrent - to the bigger picture.

Make things more fluid - smooth thoose awkward movements over.

All really good points, these are basic things that happen a lot in hockey. You would think they would be added before the lacrosse goal, but no.

Yup it's good points - but I think it's easier to add a 'special deke' then to add small details to the gameplay to flow better.

Chip ins or reach around stick checking could develop to some sort of exploit - that could take the team a half year to figure out a fix for that. I think you have to move pretty slow, in the progress/building of a advanced hockey game - If you rush - it will come back at you - backfire.

At least the lacrosse move is working flawless - it's there to try, for thoose who like to be more 'sexy' but I barley see anyone use it.

Havent let up one singel lacrosse yet. Would be cool to see one.

Hehe lovely - yeah it's alot of 'thinking we know'.

It will be really cool to start knowing for sure... 😊👍

The racist crap is far from being curbed by EA, they still allow red hair on a black guy when that would require dye to accomplish IRL (they don't let white characters have blue hair....). There is 0 reporting tools for the terrible names that people use. I am really not sure what you refer to when you say they try to mitigate this because this is the game where I see the least mitigation yet. They could block #69 too if they wanted....not one NHL player ever wears that number anyways. You cannot report on XBOX for a name used in NHL, you can report for a name used as a XBOX handle.

Unfortunately, people are going to find ways to create racist content. There's obviously still work to be done, but every day across many of our titles I'm seeing bans handed out. I'm also seeing a lot more "Joe NHLs" in drop-ins these days. Which is probably a sign they were forced to change their name. We'll continue to do all we can to action these accounts.

We have a reporting tool built into the game. You can hit the report content option on the pause screen to report a player for an offensive name. The same goes for their club. You can find further assistance with reporting players here.

Hair and numbers are a different issue though. Those aren't exactly on the same level. We want to give people the freedom to create their custom players and I get that not everyone is going to agree with what others choose. While I do agree it's very uncommon to see real players with the combinations that are in the game, it's possible they could still be choosing something that expresses their own personal look or one they more identify with.

We're very well aware of the type of content people are creating and with the community's help, a huge number of accounts have been actioned. Please keep the reports coming. It's absolutely appreciated.

    Yah..
I dont think the devs play hockey. it makes no sense to me.
Its so much less about vision of the play, nice passes and plays and more about ballerina work and extreme (impossible) dekeing at 500mph.

Many of them do actually play. The dev team is extremely passionate about the sport and are continually trying to make the game as realistic as they can while also keeping it fun. Hardcore simulations aren't fun for all just like the more casual features don't appeal to the sim crowd. We're trying to make a game that is accessible to all and not just an elite few.

When pivoting was put into the game with the RPM skating system, it wasn't the intent to have it used in the manner it has been. It's also not the easiest thing to remove as it would affect people legitimately using pivots. The dev team is very well aware of the community's feelings on this. Hopefully, they'll find a good way to balance pivots so they're not used so unrealistically.

They must play is the most impressive, ridiculously skilled leagues in the world, like some secret underground that’s even better than the NHL if they think the default sliders in this game are even remotely close to reality.

Proves my point that they’re happy with their modern NHL 94, don’t understand sport past a casual fan level, and have no desire to learn. Just me my 1TEES and SNIPESSSSSS.
