Remove goalie lock

I've actually never seen a player that's better than AI goaltending because the position is so broken to play. Would anyone miss it if they just took it out?

Yeah sure if the position plays in NHL 22 like it does in 21 then I wouldn't miss it. Or just remove the ability to play goalie in the drop ins.

No! Wouldn’t be fair to the people like myself who are good goalies.

EA needs to do something though to discourage the goalies that troll and quit.

Then maybe just keep it in clubs? To many bad players play it in pond and it's a automatic loss

I enjoy playing G in drop-ins when I don’t feel like playing my usual D position.

I agree more should be done to eliminate goalie trolls as well as players who begin to shoot at their own net.

EA should hire people being present at births - and then right away start to teach people of the value of not being a troll.

Perhaps we could be able to see some positive result in about 12-17 years.

Do you mean goalie lock in Online Versus? Or the goalie position in Chel?

Mainly drop ins. The position is to janky to play and it's easy to throw games. If you get a goalie on your team it's basically over for you

I've played with some pretty great goalies in drop-ins. Also played with some not so great ones, but it's no guarantee that having a human goalie means your team will lose. I've been in many games where bad defense was more the reason for the loss than a bad goalie.

I hope one of the new x-factors is that a human goalie gets a stat boost in drop-ins after their defense lets the 5th odd-man rush develop :D:D

Hehe he would X-factor himself into a beast, even before the end of the first period.

When both teams have goalies its a differnt story but I genuinely don't think that having a human goalie can give you any advantage and only hurts your team. The position is just a lot of RNG anyway. You have no for sure way of stopping pucks you kinda just stand and hope your goalie makes the right animation. It's hard to blame the people who actually try and play when it's like 20% skill and 80% random luck. There are times where I tried playing it and ill drop butterfly because I see someone right infront of me going to deflect it so I try to close my 5 hole but for some reason i get animation locked in a glove save before it gets tipped and he opens his 5 hole. Like I did everything correctly and still couldn't guarantee the save. Even when sliding left or right on one timers you don't guarantee a stop. I understand the whole skill system but why not just remove the whole load out system for goalies in eashl and just make it a flat out high overall so the player has atleast some consistency when it comes to making saves.

I think if both teams had a goalie we wouldn't see the level of frustration on the forums like we do now. This is a complete catch 22 here. If you remove the ability for goalies in drop ins, Club players who take their ranking serious will suffer from a "learning period" where new goalies will need to improve. In my opinion, that would not incentivize people to play goalie and clubs would opt in without them.

I see where players are coming from with drop in goalies how some will take it serious while others could rage/troll to make that one drop in feel like a waste.

I'd love to see a goalie shootout option myself where everyone can quickly jump in to learn the controls for the goalie. Just have a skater pepper pucks at you non stop and it can even give you heads up display on what control to use in order to block the shot. Maybe a minute of that as a refresher each time and then it it's all up to instincts. You could even attach weekly challenges to them which will encourage people to jump, so if your goalie is busy that weekend you can have someone else on your team step in as a backup.

At that point, I can see the idea of removing the goalie from drop ins since there's an alternative way to improve. Until then, from what we know at this moment, Goalies aren't being removed from drop ins.
